King of Your Heart

Rex has finished his training program, passed final testing, and exceeded his training team’s expectations! The only thing they're sad about is that this is their last week with him. They have seen so many improvements in him. At first, he was bewildered by what these humans were doing, but he has grown accustomed to them and become an amazing friend. And that's what this program is all about! It was a pleasure for them to work with Rex, and they looked forward to walking him and petting him every day, and watching him play. He really loves his training team, but his new favorite person will be you! His trainer is jealous because he wishes he could adopt him and have fun with this swell guy forever. Rex is an absolutely perfect specimen. He enjoyed the companionship of other dogs out on the yard and also loves getting attention from people. Rex will be one of the dogs that his trainer will remember the most, and although he doesn't want to part with and he's happy to know that he will now have a forever family that loves him as much as he does.

Swap Week Shenanigans

This week all of the trainers swapped dogs, so a different training team worked with Rex. The only signs of separation anxiety that he showed were a little whimpering and whining the first day or two, but then he was fine for the rest of the week. He also did okay with his commands, he was just a little too excited at feeding times; but when he calmed down, he did very well. He also did his commands well. Rex adjusted very well to his new trainers and showed his loving and affectionate side very quickly to them.

His swap week training team is confident that after a little bit of time to settle into his new home, and especially with his new pack, he will be a loving and cherished member of his forever family!

Yep. I'm Cute and I know it.

Rex has had a great week! He knows all of his commands, but doesn’t like to wait for permission to come out of his kennel.  He’s excited to see what the day has in store for him and doesn’t have time for all that waiting nonsense.  LOL His trainer is working hard on the “wait” command and Rex is starting to entertain the idea. Anything is possible when treats are involved.

He loves to lay in the bed chewing on his treat filled Kong toy.  He likes to keep an eye on all things happening around him.  He’s been playing a bit more this week.  Swap Week is just around the corner and his inmate trainer is looking forward to seeing how Rex does with his alternate training team. He likes to speak to anyone walking by the door or window.  He seems to be saying Hi look how cute I am!!

Handsome Hound

Rex has made remarkable, swift improvements in all of his commands this past week. His trainer was honored to guide his performance at the most recent doggy “show and tell” within this past week, because he did so well and even got some applause!

Tall and powerful, Rex is a devastatingly handsome dog who looks born to be king of the greyhounds. He has a beautiful coat color, a light brown that is almost bronze. It is such a pleasure to work with him that his trainer always looks forward to seeing him every single day.

Rex seems to have grown more relaxed around people and is very charming; he goes up to everyone he sees so they can pet him. His trainer has seen a drastic difference in his obedience not only over the past two weeks, but over the session as a whole. His trainer is sure that he will be ready when graduation day arrives, and probably even before then. His trainer is so glad that he gets to spend some more time with him until then because Rex is a great friend. They have more and more fun together with each passing day and on every walk!

Best Friend: Incoming!

Rex has had a great week this past week. He has come out of his little shell and plays with the other dogs a lot more. He enjoys running and is so fast! He does all of his basic commands, and enjoys doing them for his trainer. His trainer thinks it's just the wonderful tasting treats that he gets after doing his commands that motivates him.

He is so curious about things that he has never seen, smelled, or tasted before, so he always has to check them out. He enjoys his Kong with peanut butter while watching TV. The TV amazes him so much! He has no problems letting you brush his teeth and is relaxed while getting his nails clipped. It's like he knows it needs to be done. He gets so excited when he is coming out of his kennel and bounces up and down, but he calms down after a few bounces. His trainer wants to thank you for the time he's getting to train him to be your new best friend!

Big Man on Campus

The name Rex means "King," and it suits Rex the Greyhound because he is strong and handsome. His trainer immediately admired his light reddish-brown coat and his look of a mighty, rugged adventurer. There are only a few males in the current class, so he gets to be the Big Man on Campus!

Rex is friendly and enjoys affection. Lots of love is the key to helping our doggy friends acclimate to a human-filled environment, and it is amazing to see the changes in their personalities as they learn to become companions and friends. His trainer feels as if he already has a bond with Rex, and that he will remember him as one of his favorite dogs. All the other people in the dorm love him, too! What's not to love?

Rex has improved in his training very much so in just a few weeks. His trainer sees him getting better at doing commands every day, and he thinks that Rex will be ready to show us that he knows it all forwards and backwards on the final test at graduation. His trainer wishes he wouldn't have to leave! He'd like to keep him forever, but he is glad that he will have a family to love him and be as proud of him as he is.

The run team that Rex exercises with consists of just him and three girls, so it's a dream come true for this fella! His trainer looks forward to his happy smiles on more fun days ahead.

T-"Rex" Can Sit

Rex has had a great week. He learned to “sit” and now he sits for everything while in the training room.  His inmate trainer plans to continue working on “sit” around other dogs and people using the distractions to help him focus.

Rex enjoys alone time on his bed while watching TV.  His inmate trainer says that Rex has come a long way since he arrived.  He enjoys running with the other dogs in the big yard. He can do all of his basic commands except for “down.”  His trainer plans to start working on it next week.  The next goal will be to have him responding on the first request.  He’s a smart boy who enjoys training time so he’ll have it figured out soon!

TV Time!

Rex’s inmate trainer says that Rex is a sweet, loving boy who is a great companion.  He is learning his commands on time and seems to enjoy the yummy treat reward system.  He doesn’t get some of the commands on the first cue at times, but his inmate trainer says that he knows Rex will get if all figured out before going to his for ever home.

Rex is still amazed by the TV and enjoys laying around in his bed with a Kong filled with peanut butter. He is curious about everything and wants to check everything and loves to investigate.

The Joy of Discovery

Rex has had a great week! He is still unsure about the change, but he’s adjusting. He has already taken notice of so many things, like the TV – he’ll just lie in bed and watch it like a person would! Sometimes something will fly across the screen, and he will jump up like he wants to find out where it went. It’s so fun to watch him discover new things. He is a great dog and will make a wonderful companion in any home.

His trainer has not found any aggressive behavior towards anyone or anything. He loves his Kong with peanut butter while resting on his bed, and has started to notice that when he responds to commands he gets a tasty treat. This has made training MUCH easier. He has no problems learning, so he is sure to graduate from his training with flying colors.

Nice To Meet You

Rex’s inmate trainer says that he can already tell that Rex is an exceptional dog.  So far he’s been very calm.  He hasn’t shown any interest in treats just yet.  He’s very interested in his new surroundings and likes to check things out.  His inmate trainer says it’s funny to watch him in action, sniffing everything out.

He’s adjusting well and as he becomes more comfortable, more of his personality will emerge and his interest in treats will pick up a bit.
