Check Out Trixie!

Trixie’s first week in her new foster home was full of a lot of new experiences.

Her first day she had to spend a couple of hours in her kennel, which was something she didn’t do much of in her previous home, but she was a total champ!  She was happily entertained by a Kong toy with peanut butter and had no stress about it.

On Monday she went to day care for the first time.  She was a little confused and shy the first day, but she hung close to her foster brother and by the end of the week she was having a blast.

There have been a lot of people coming in and out of her foster home this week; it was her foster mom’s birthday so there were several evenings when they had company over.  She was super friendly and happy to meet new people each time.  By Friday night she was laying calmly in bed while the humans ate and socialized, completely comfortable with the idea.

Trixie is fantastic on her leash, and loves to go for long walks.  She got to go on a hike last weekend, and even though it was very cold she still had a great time.  We also tried going for a jog around the neighborhood and she loved it!  She also loves car rides, and will stand up looking out the window and smiling the entire time.  Her favorite toys are stuffed animals that have squeakers in them.  She has not shown any destructive tendencies towards the toys yet, and doesn’t chew on anything besides her toys.

Trixie would be an amazing match for an individual or a family that has the energy to make sure she gets lots of exercise and play time.  She is a very curious dog, but when she is exercised she is much less interested in trying to investigate places and things that may be off limits.  She is still a greyhound, so she of course loves long naps after she’s run and played.
