Gimme a Hug!
/Mya's inmate trainer has seen a lot of progress with this cutie this week! She has gotten much better at leash walking. She was pulling a lot while walking on a leash, so every time her trainer noticed her pulling ahead he'd stop and make her heel, so she picked up on heel pretty quickly, too. As for sit and down - well, they've been a little tougher. Mya really isn't motivated by treats, and when she sees a toy she loses focus. She is doing "down" but is a little slow about it. But she has started sitting all on her own! As a reward, her trainer gives her a really good petting.
Mya loves - and I mean, LOVES - petting and attention. She does this thing where when her trainer kneels down and opens his arms, she'll come in and bury her face in his chest or under his arm. He's tagged it as an extra command called "hug." He doesn't work on it very much because he's still waiting or her to master all of the basic commands before confusing her with any bonus ones. Mya is a very loving, sweet and playful Greyhound. He is looking forward to getting to know her for the remainder of the session. He knows she is going to make a great addition to some lucky family!
