Social Butterfly

Comet has been a social butterfly this week. He never meets a stranger and is always more then happy to be petted by other inmates and especially the staff. Around males, Comet is calm, usually inching his body close and laying his head in their lap. He loves a good ear rub. Occasionally Comet becomes a bit excited around the female staff, so that’s something his trainer is working on as training progresses.

Comet is a fast learner and a master at eye contact. The other day, Comet was laying on the bed, half asleep. His trainer was talking to another trainer and said “Comet is a great dog and any family would be lucky to adopt him”. Upon hearing his name, he jerked his head up, looking right at his trainer as if to say, “I know you are talking about me. What’s up?” See. He already knows his name. Comet is making quick and steady progress.
