Full Of Love

Yep. It’s true. Darcie is one of the sweetest dogs yet! It just melts her trainer’s heart to watch her being petted and cuddled, because you can see she really enjoys it. She is truly full of love. Oh, her trainer can’t forget her famous happy tail! It’s non-stop! She’s so happy to see you when you have been gone for a bit. She acts like you have been away forever.

As far as her training goes, she executes her basic commands with perfection. Darcie wants to please her humans by doing her commands and more! She loves to shake and spin for love, kibble and even the occasional squeaky toy. Her trainer says he simply loves Darcie and knows you will too!

Swap Week Shenanigans!

Swap week!!! This week, a new team got to spend the whole week with Darling Darcie. She was such a pleasure to work and spend time with, and man is her coat silky soft! It’s like a Persian cat’s fur! Darcie went to Mac’s primary trainer, and it was a big change - she’s about 20 pounds lighter, but like Mac and the rest of her classmates, she is very sweet. Darcie did a great job doing her commands for a new person and proved to be very passive and easy-going with her swap week training team. Mostly, this week was about testing for separation anxiety and how they handle sudden changes in their environment. She showed no signs of separation anxiety, which is a fancy way of saying “getting upset.” Her trainer went through all of her commands a few times a day and got to play a lot with her, and she loved it! Her swap week trainer’s bunk bed is closer to where there is more foot traffic in the dorm, and Darcie loved the attention!

After the week was over, Darcie had to go back to her primary trainer. Her swap week trainer is going to miss her; ten weeks is a short time when the dogs are this lovable!

Awesomesauce!

Awesomesauce! That’s what Darcie is. Her trainer can’t find anything bad to say about this amazing girl! She has a charming personality and is very attentive. She aims to please, so is such a great learner. She knows all her basic commands with verbal cues and most with hand signals too! Darcie is going to be a fun girl to have around. You ARE a lucky family if you chose Darcie! A couple more weeks and she’s all yours!

Delightful Darcie!

Another week down in the books and another successful week for Darcie! Every Thursday is “show and tell” for the greyhounds. It’s a time to show off what they have learned so far and where they need to improve. Darcie is very smart and picks up things really fast, so it’s no surprise she scored all “10’s”! She has also learned a few extras like: “spin”, “bow” and “shake”. Next week on to a few more extras. What shall her trainer teach her?

Darcie is showing more interest in squeaky toys. She’s not toy crazy, but likes to toss them around a few times. She also enjoys her run on the big yard with the other greyhounds. After she’s done running she will find a nice cool spot in the grass to lay down. She will lay there until it’s time to go back inside.

Darcie’s trainer said she is a true blessing and is so much fun to train. She loves attention and affection. She’s an honest to goodness sweetheart! She has given her trainer so many memories that will be with him forever. Are you ready to create your own memories that will last a lifetime? Darcie is!!!

Happy Happy Girl!

Okay, let’s just put this out there… Darcie is an amazing dog.  There it’s been said and the truth is out everywhere.  She’s an amazing girl who has adjusted really well to the facility and everyone around her.  She has quickly learned all of her commands.  She’s a girl who works hard to see her human happy.  Darcie is laid back and happy.

Her inmate trainer says that you can’t help but smile with Darcie around!

Eminently Lovable!

The session is already halfway over! Darcie has been so much fun to train and to be around in general. She is such a people person; she will approach anyone, ready to love them. And in return, of course, she likes to be petted and loved on. Darcie loves affection! She has been such an amazing greyhound to train and the family that gets her has NO idea how lucky they are!

Darcie knows most of her commands really well. She does a great let's go, here, stay, and bed. Kennel has improved and she now goes in on command. Release is going to take some extra work, as well as sit and down which are two big toughies. She does a great leave it and jump - she jumps with no problem! She also worked on stair training this week and she did an excellent job. Her training team is going to continue working on her commands to fine tune them so that she performs them like a professional.

Darcie has grown on her team so much - how rapidly do you think she'll grow on you?! (Hint: super fast!!!).

Non-Stop Tail Wag

Darcie has been at the Second Chance Greyhounds Academy for higher learning for a few weeks now. She is definitely a smart girl. She knows all of her basic commands well. She is slow at times to respond to “sit” and “down”. There is plenty of time to sharpen up these commands before graduation, so no need to worry. She is also slow to respond to “hurry”. She doesn’t get in a hurry to relieve herself outside. She takes her good ole sweet time. Hey. You can’t rush a lady.

Darcie is low-key most of the time. She hasn’t shown any interest in toys, except to use it as a pillow on her bed. Those stuffed toys are pretty comfortable to lay your head on. The highlight of her day is when you have been gone for awhile and come back. She acts like you have been gone forever! Her tail is going 100 miles a minute. It’s too cute!

Darcie’s trainer said she is a wonderful greyhound and he wouldn’t trade her for anything in this world. He is definitely going to hate to see her leave, but is happy to hear she has a forever home to go to after graduation. Darcie is going to wow you and win your heart.

One Smart Cookie

Darcie jumped into week 3 with all four paws! She is such a friendly and sweet girl, with a gorgeous dark brindle coat. It’s very, very soft, so when you start petting her it’s hard to stop. She loves to be loved on and petted so it’s a win, win for everyone.

Darcie worked hard on her commands this week and did her first “sit” on her own. She also learned “down”, “wait”, “here'“, “stay”, “heel”, “leave it”, “bed” and “kennel”. Darcie is now going into her kennel on command. Once she’s in there, she is looking like, “hey bud, where’s the treat?” When you come back after being gone, she is so excited to see you. Tail wagging like crazy!

Jump and stairs was introduced this week. Darcie did jump and went up and down the stairs on the first try. She is picking up on her commands pretty fast. No surprise with a smart cookie like Darcie.

Darcie likes to run on the big yard. After a nice run, she likes to take a break and sun bathe in the sun. It’s too cute! Darcie has shown no interest in toys yet, but that I’m sure will change. Her trainer said it’s been a fun few weeks with Darcie and looks forward to the coming weeks. She has made a positive impact in his life in this short time. Darcie will hit you like a hurricane with her love!

Sweetest gal around

Darcie is starting to adjust to her new environment; she started out nervous and slipping on the shiny floors here, but now she walks so much more confidently on them. No more slipping!

Darcie has picked up on a few of her commands so far, and her best is “wait.” Her leash walking is coming along really well, and her “heels” are improving. Darcie isn’t the biggest fan of going in the kennel right away on command; when her trainer says “sit,” she looks down and waits for a treat! What a cute little scammer. She is a slower learner, but slow and steady wins the race - and graduates!

She is great at the bed command and it was the first one she picked up on. Soon she will try down and jump. It’s still very early in training and Darcie is studying hard. So many commands! She is a very, very sweet greyhound and she loves to be loved on. When you leave her in the kennel for a little while and then come back, she is so excited to see you. Her tail goes bonkers! Too cute. Darcie is a very sweet and gentle girl and will add so much joy to your family - is it yours?!

Darcie, reporting for training

Time for a new training session!  Darcie has arrived for training!  Her inmate trainer says that Darcie is a dark brindle girl weighing 59 lbs.  She’ll be 3 in October and seems like a great girl!

She arrived for training and agreed to walk down the hallway with its shiny floors.  She did really well for her bath and teeth brushing. Her inmate trainer feeds her by hand to work on bonding and started working on some commands that are used during potty times: wait, release, let’s go, hurry, and kennel.  Once she settles into her new environment they’ll start working on the other commands.  So far, she’s picking up on the intro commands well!  She knows her name and wags her tail when she hears it.
