First Time's a Charm!
/It's a new year and Judy has made a breakthrough - she's doing ALL of her commands on the first try except for "down", which is one of the trickiest in the book. And the edge has worn off of her excitement. She rarely pulls on her leash and if you stop walking she either backs up or automatically "heels." Of course she does sometimes fall back into her old ways and indulges in excitement and toy obsession, but who doesn't? If you assert yourself and work with her, she gets right back in line.
Judy also learned how to play "fetch" which she really enjoys! Make sure you cherish that, because not every greyhound gives such a hoot about fetching.
Judy's trainer says that he thinks it would be a good idea to have a kennel cover for her since it helps calm her down by making her feel like she's in her own little space, like a cave.
Until next week . . .
