Curious George, ur, I mean Gabriel

On one of our walks recently we came upon this concrete Lion statue. Gabriel was cautiously curious and didn’t quite know what to make of it! Such a sweet boy!
Gabriel and I took our first walk the other day. I have to say he walked beautifully on leash. Here is a snippet showing just how close he was to me. You can see the top of my left shoe in the frame on occasion. He did very well!
Gabriel has passed his final test and he passed with flying colors! His training team is so proud of him; they all worked very hard to get Gabriel to the finish line. Gabriel has been a real joy to work with. He is very gentle, polite, and easy-going. He’s easy to groom and pretty much lets you do whatever you need to do to him!
Gabriel enjoys running, chasing and exploring. It’s no wonder because that is what greyhounds are bred for, but these really are his favorite things. When his team takes him out for some off-leash time, after running with the other dogs he comes up to his trainer for some human play time! He chases his team around, hopping and skipping around the humans. It is so comical to watch!
Gabriel’s trainer has learned so much from him, as he does from every dog he trains. Every greyhound is different, from personality to size and temperament. Gabriel has been the most easy-going and gentlest of all the dogs his trainer has worked with, and he’s ready for his forever home!
Swap week has gone by so quickly! Gabriel has been an absolute dream to work with: a dog who is friendly, outgoing, and loves to be where the action is! This week consisted mostly of going through commands, playing in the training room and running around on the big yard. No pressure this week, and Gabriel took the changes in his training team in stride. His swap week team saw no signs of stress or separation anxiety.
Gabriel’s swap week trainer has a slightly different feeding schedule for his primary dog, but it only took him a few days to adjust like an absolute champ. Nothing seemed to bother him! The thing he enjoyed most was running in the big yard and playing with the other dogs in his class.
Gabriel is going back to his primary trainer today and his swap week trainer is really going to miss him. He and his future family will have lots of happy years ahead of them, and they should feel lucky to get such a great friend in Gabriel!
This week Gabriel’s training team has been ironing out any little glitches in his performances. He knows all of his commands, so he’s learning a couple new ones - Bow and Kiss. These are just two entertaining tricks and Gabriel learned them easily. His team is confident that he is ready for his final testing before going to his forever home.
Gabriel is a gentle and polite greyhound that has been well behaved from the beginning of his training. He is an easy-going dog that just goes with the flow. His trainers couldn’t be more proud of this boy.
Gabriel is a very polite and gentle boy. He does really well releasing his toy when he’s given the “give” command. His inmate trainer calls him a gentle giant.
They started stair training three weeks ago and he’s now climbing them as if he’s been doing it all his life. When he first started he was shaky and unsure, but by the third time he had much more confidence. His inmate trainer says that he’s very proud of the progress Gabriel has made!
When Gabriel arrived six weeks ago he was unsure about this new place. Once he started training and got into a routine he found a comfort zone and confidence grew by leaps and bounds.
Gabriel took to his lessons very quickly. Once he found out treats were involved it was game on! He’s still working on “sit” and “down,” but his inmate trainer believes he’ll have those figured out in no time.
He loves running in the yard with his friends and he’s right up front with the pack. His inmate trainer says that Gabriel is a laid-back calm dog with a serious side. But when it comes to eating the excited silly boy comes out.
Hi everyone! This is “Good Boy” Gabriel. I’m really enjoying my time here learning my commands, being around the other dogs and trainers. While being out of the kennel for training is ok, especially for the treats, I like laying on a bed, relaxing, giving and getting attention the best. As nice as that is, I’ve heard in a little while I’ll be going to a better place called a “forever home” with only a few people. I can’t wait to meet you and love on you the rest of my life! I hope you are up for that. Until then… hugs and kisses from your “Good Boy” Gabriel!
Gabriel continues to knock his commands out of the park! He still has 3-4 that he needs to master, but his inmate trainer is not worried. He knows Gabriel will have it down pat soon enough. He did a bit of stair training this week and gave an impressive show of going up and down them!
He also got into playing with toys this week! He didn’t really toss or chase them but really enjoyed chewing on them especially when they squeaked! He loves to run and play in the big yard with his grey pals. His inmate trainer says that Gabriel is a calm and easygoing guy who enjoys relaxing and watching TV.
Gabriel had his first Show and Tell this week. This is where the hounds do their commands in front of the entire dorm. Gabriel did great and continues to improve daily! He’s very food driven which helps with training. He also likes to see his human happy, so he doesn’t mind learning new things. (well the treats help too)
His inmate trainer says that Gabriel’s attitude is wonderful. He’s always happy yet never gets overly excited. He’s a joy to be around! Some lucky family is in for a special treat with this guy!
Gabriel’s inmate trainer says that the first full week has confirmed that Gabriel is a smart one! He’s caught on to all but two of his basic commands! He’s already mastered “kennel,” “here,” and “stay.” Way to go Gabriel!
Gabriel seems to be happiest when he’s out of his kennel and hanging out with the humans soaking up all the attention he can get. His inmate trainer says that Gabriel has a great temperament and believes that he will find his way to relaxation pretty quickly in his new home.
The first four days have gone very well with good boy Gabriel. So far he seems to be very even-tempered and mellow, and he likes to be out of his kennel and around people. He is quick to wag his tail, especially during “stay”. Of course that may be because he is anxiously awaiting his treat reward. No matter the reason, it's hard to resist his golden brown eyes and happy face at those moments. Besides learning stay, he's done well learning his other walking and kennel commands, during which he has shown that he is a quick learner and eager to please. He's also been very good while being handled for brushing his teeth, cleaning his ears, etc.
His solid, stocky build shows his race name is appropriate (his trainer did a great job with his pet name recognizing the 80's song!). But his loving, happy and relaxed personality makes him just a big ole teddy bear. All of that leaves his trainer confident that Gabriel will quickly settle in with his forever family and earn a special place in their hearts, like he's already doing to his trainer’s heart!
