Bonnie the sweetheart! She likes to bask in partial sun and watch us do all the yard work; she later has to come by and inspect everything, during and after!
She will bark and always let us know when she needs to go out. She won't even use it in the kennel, when we are both out. After going on a few trips, she has it in her head if we go, she goes! Especially after the much needed greyhound hike! Such a sweet girl is waiting for her forever home. This shy girl will be a wonderful addition, let her get to know you, she gives great hugs!
It's hard work being so cute! I'm having fun, and learned so much since we last talked. I have learned how to sneak up and give un expected kisses, and how to let you know when to room with me. Take a look at my pic! Ready for you to snatch me up!
My name is Bonnie, pleasure to meet you! I can't wait to find my perfect match. What am I looking for you may ask? Well I'm a retired racer, so I like a nice balance. I love to play with Mr. Bandit, he's my squeaky squirrel toy or my purple rubber ball, it squeaks too. Oh did I tell you I'm a bundle of energy, so may be too much for very small children.
But don't worry, I can be independent too, like when playing by myself and lying around. I love to greet people with a smile when you come home from work, or run your errands. When I'm done playing, I like to lay in my soft comfy bed and dream of running and playing in the field of my dreams (I'm too cute when watching me run in my sleep)
I like to investigate and watch everything you do, you would have my attention! I have soft fur, and love head rubs!
Are you the lucky person to start a wonderful life with little ole me?
Each day she gets to know you, each day she shows another different side..
She loves to eat, play, and put on a show. This pup surprises me everyday, she's aware of everything. She barks when wanting to play, get your attention, or make you aware of what is going on.
Her favorite toy is anything that squeaks! I love to see her jump at the ball when playing by herself, and when she wakes in the morning, she is a happy bouncing jack rabbit.
Bonnie does great on hardwood floors as well as carpet, and is great when at home alone. She will whine or go to the door when needing to go out. She is a sunshine girl and will make her forever match a happy home!

Bonnie Blue (as I've dubbed her) is still a doll. She is always such a happy girl and is always up for a new adventure. I wish I could provide her with those adventures!
No, really, she isn't high maintenance at all. She loves walks, bird watching, squirrel hunting, and especially chipmunk hunting. These are her passions.
She also relishes a good nap and, of course, a good meal. Treats are just that, treats. She enjoys them when she gets them. Her favorite? A marshmallow, of course! Yep, it's what a lot of race trainers give their pups when they've completed a race. Bonnie did not complete many races, 21 to be exact, so I think she just likes marshmallows. And who doesn't? Check out her race record here.
Yes, I said that. Bonnie Blue, as I call her, is a doll. She is such a sweet girl who is still a bit unsure of herself. She's learning, though, that no one here is a threat to her or her space and every day she is more confident than the last. She would definitely do well in a home with another Greyhound who will let her be the alpha dog.
She's so darn cute, though, it's hard not to fall in love with her, it truly is. Who couldn't love a face like that? And she's such a petite thing. At only 52 pounds, she's almost the size of a large Whippet - seriously!
She's learning the fine art of chipmunk hunting here at my house, thanks to Gwyneth who takes her outside every chance they get to hone their hunting skills.
As you can see, all that activity is wearing her slap out! Just kidding, she would do well as a coursing Greyhound, I believe. Her small size, agility, and speed would do her well on the coursing field. Just my opinion, of course!
Stay tuned for more of Bonnie Blue's antics! I'm sure there will be lots more to report!
Bonnie's inmate trainer says working with Bonnie has been interesting as well as enjoyable. She still has some aggression issues with toys and it takes her a minute to warm up to strangers but she has come along way since first entering the program ten weeks ago. She is a very smart Greyhound who has a happy-go-lucky attitude most of the time.
She was tested this week and passed her basic commands test. Her appetite is good and she is in good health. Her inmate trainer thinks she will make a good family pet and companion for a lucky family.
Besides the basic commands, she has learned "paws up" (where she puts her paws on your knee while sitting), "shake", "back", "fetch", "drop", and "give". Overall, she is a sweet puppy and she is still a puppy who will turn two later this month.
Happy birthday Bonnie! Here's wishing your birthday wish to find your new family comes true!
Swap week time! At this time in training the inmates swap Greyhounds to work on commands and the hounds get to experience receiving commands from new people and time away from their primary handlers.
Bonnie’s temporary inmate handler says that Bonnie is a very happy and playful girl who loves to chew on toys and play fetch. She is a high energy girl, but not an unruly girl by any means. She enjoys calmly laying on her bed during the day during downtime. Bonnie seems to prefer to run around outside by herself or playing with a toy on her own. She knows all of her commands well and did not have any problems being away from her primary trainer.
Her temporary trainer says that Bonnie made the week easy and enjoyable. He has no doubts that her forever family will love this sweet girl!
Bonnie is a fast learner and a very affectionate girl. Her inmate trainer says that Bonnie wants to be the boss at times and prefers not to share her toys, bed, or kennel. Her inmate trainer says that Bonnie will trade a toy for a treat anytime! She dreams a lot at night and will wake herself up with a yelp. They play country music for her which seems to help her sleep.
Bonnie learned the belly command this week! Twirl your finger in a circular motion and say “belly” when she is in the down position she’ll roll over onto her back for belly rubs!
She has become fond of a yellow softball sized plush squeaky toy that looks like something off of Angry Birds. She loves playing fetch with a tennis ball and lap is her favorite command. Her second favorite is the sit command.
Bonnie’s inmate trainer says that they all love this sweet girl and hope that she finds the perfect home.
Bonnie is a very special girl! She has improved so much since her arrival at the prison! Her inmate trainer says that she performs her basic commands with a fair amount of happy tail wags. He says that sometimes her tail wags so much that it almost throws her off balance!
Bonnie has learned a few extra this week such as backup, take it, and tug! Backup should prove to be very useful when walking down narrow hallways. Take it is great when play with toys. Her inmate trainer says that you can ask Bonnie to “take it” while holding a toy in front of her then use the command “tug” and she’ll start a game of tug with you! She absolutely loves playing this game. Once the game is complete you can request her to “give it” and she’ll let the toy go! If she’s not ready to stop playing she will complain with a whine about stopping, but will obey.
She’s doing great with grooming and teeth brushing these days. Her inmate trainer is very happy to see Bonnie’s progress! He says that she has so much love and affection to offer her new family!
Bonnie is learning so many new things this week. She has learned "paws up", "lap", and "watch me". Her inmate trainer says it is so cool to watch this little girl learn and have fun at the same time.
Other extra commands she has learned include "leave it", "drop", "give", "fetch", and "bow".
Bonnie still struggles with sharing her toys and she still wants to pitch a fit at times, but she is less than two years old so these behaviors are expected at this age. She will mature and grow out of them in time.
This week Bonnie decided she didn't need her dew claw anymore (she only had one to start with) so she chewed it off. Yes, as you can imagine, it bled and bled but it was wrapped with some bandaging and all has been well ever since.
All in all, he says it has been a great week. Everyone loves Bonnie Blue! She is truly a dream boat who is loved by everyone!
Bonnie is coming along very well with her training! She has fallen in love with toys. Her favorites are really plush toys and treat dispensers. Anything that squeaks will also get her attention!
Bonnie always sits for her meals and can’t wait for the release command! She isn’t a picky eater, but adding a little water to her food keeps her from choking.
Bonnie dreams a lot and sometimes will yelp in her sleep and wake herself up. Her intimate trainer says that her feet move like she’s running away from the Bogeyman and then she’ll let out a yelp like a scalded squirrel!
Bonnie is a young energetic girl who enjoys a good romp in the yard. She loves to play and chase tennis balls. Her inmate trainer says that it’s a true joy to see Bonnie so happy.
Bonnie is doing much better with having her teeth brushed and being groomed! Her inmate trainer is working to help Bonnie build on her strong attributes to overcome her weaker ones. She loves to play with toys of any kind and they will keep her occupied forever. Her favorites though are toys that dispense treats.
Bonnie has become pretty efficient at fetching! Her inmate trainer says that Bonnie is always in a playful mood and that everything about her speaks of fun. He says that some of her crazy faces make him laugh out loud they’re so cute.
Bonnie is working on sharing her toys and acting like a lady while being groomed. She sometimes wants to flop down and whine when she’d rather be doing something else. Her inmate trainer tells her that she’s pitching a fit like a kid and not acting like a lady. Not to worry though she’s showing great improvement with grooming and her trainer has no doubt that she will overcome this behavior.
What’s up?! Bonnie here to tell you all about this new gig I have. You know, I used to race for a living. Now I listen to my inmate trainer and get treats! What a sweet deal! Okay, so here’s the deal. I come into this new place and they want to give me a bath and brush my teeth, what’s up with that? But, I will admit I’m finding that it’s not so bad. Okay, so maybe I even like having my teeth brushed now, but we really gotta talk about this toy sharing. So, my inmate trainer gives me these awesome toys to play with and now he wants me to share them? I’m still thinking about this one. It just seems wrong, ya know? Okay so here’s the story, my inmate trainer straight up took my chew bone out of my crate! I admit I got a little vocal, but hey that was mine! I didn’t see him over there chewing it so why remove it? I mean a girl’s gotta have her chew bone! Now, to give him credit he does give me a treat in exchange for my toy, but I’m not sure that it’s sufficient payment. Maybe if he added peanut butter….
Okay, for real though, I think you should know that I’m a real sweetheart. I love attention and really, come on, just look at me I’m adorable! AND to top off this sweet looking exterior I also know how to respond hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, here, and bed. I’m also learning all about responding to wait, heel, sit, down, bow, fetch, give and drop! I think I may need a crown! Move over world I got it going on!
Bonnie is adjusting to prison really well! She enjoys being around people and other dogs. Her inmate trainer has been working on the sit, down, stay, and wait commands. She is doing well and enjoys her treat rewards!
She doesn’t mind being examined for medical checks. She usually doesn’t mind having her teeth brushed, but when she’s not in the mood she’ll cry to see if her trainer will stop. She’s also used the crying technique during training. Her inmate trainer can give her the slightest touch and she’ll cry to show she’s no longer interested.
Bonnie is starting to interact with toys! She’s doing well with the bed and kennel commands as well! Her inmate trainer believes that as her confidence increases she’ll do really well with training!
Bonnie has arrived! Her inmate trainer says that she’s a little sweetheart! She’s adapting well to her new environment and he believes she’s going to be fairly easy to train. She hasn’t been too crazy about having her teeth brushed, but her inmate trainer believes she’ll get used to the process. She’s not a big fan of pesky flies. Her inmate trainer saw her snatch an aggravating fly right out of mid-air! Needless to say, it will not be bothering Bonnie anymore!
Her inmate trainer says that Bonnie loves affection and will do anything to please her human. He believes she’s going to be great and can’t wait to see how far she takes training
