Russell continues to make excellent progress as he builds on the skills he has learned throughout the program. He is becoming more consistent in following commands such as "sit," "down," "bed," and "here," and is showing greater patience and attentiveness during training sessions. Becoming a Wonderful Companion

Russell continues to develop into a well-mannered and affectionate companion. His inmate trainer has noticed improvements in his ability to follow commands, remain attentive, and settle into his daily routine. Although Russell still has plenty of energy and enthusiasm, he is learning patience and self-control. His confidence has grown tremendously since entering the program, and his progress reflects the time, dedication, and encouragement his trainer has provided. Russell is proving that retired racing dogs can learn new skills and thrive in a loving home environment.

Making Great Strides

Russell has made great strides in his training and continues to impress his inmate trainer with his progress. He is becoming more focused during training sessions and is improving his responses to commands such as "sit," "down," "bed," and "here." His walks are becoming more manageable as he learns to balance his excitement with better listening skills. Russell is also making progress with his feeding routine and becoming more comfortable in his new environment. His playful spirit and loving personality continue to shine.

Learning and Growing

Russell is showing steady improvement in both his behavior and training. He is becoming more familiar with daily routines and is responding more consistently to commands. Russell enjoys receiving affection and praise, which encourage him to continue learning. His confidence is growing, and he is beginning to understand what is expected of him as he prepares for life with a forever family.

Building Confidence

Russell continues to make wonderful progress as he adjusts to life beyond the racetrack. His energetic personality and enthusiasm for walks remain strong, but he is becoming more attentive and responsive to his inmate trainer. He is learning basic commands such as "sit," "down," "bed," and "here," while developing better manners and patience. His feeding routine continues to improve, and he is becoming more comfortable with his surroundings. Russell's affectionate personality and eagerness to learn are making him a joy to work with.

Progress

Russell is really responding well to the leash during walking and potty breaks, staying on my left side and walking WITH me! He continues to exhibit some anxiety as it relates to the squirrels that are EVERYWHERE when we are walking.

This week Russell and his inmate trainer have been working on the “stay” command while out on the big yard. This consists of the inmate trainer dropping Russell’s leash and attempting to get Russell to stay in place verbally reiterating “stay” and then using his name to get him to come to his inmate trainer. This will eventually evolve to the “stay” and “here” command without using his name.

Training is definitely a work in progress which has really just begun. Many more weeks to go!

With daily training sessions, Russell will eventually know all his commands. He’ll be ready to become an outstanding part of his forever family.

Welcome Russell!

Russell’s first week has been full of adjustments but he is doing remarkably well, his inmate trainer states. Initially his personality has been strong and distinctive!

He’s always smiling, especially when you pet him on top of his head. That’s one of his favorite things! He also loves to sniff you all over! His inmate trainer suspects that’s his way of getting to know you!

Russell enjoyed his inaugural bath upon his arrival, standing perfectly still with no resistance at all. He seemed to really like it!

His inmate trainer is looking forward to working with him through the weeks to come and teaching Russell all his commands!
