Delightful Days Ahead

Dolly is a very loving and obedient dog. She performs all of her basic commands very well, and loves to perform! She loves attention, too – she’ll hold an audience’s attention and smile the whole time. The more people watch her perform, the bigger her smiles. Two of her trainer’s favorite tricks for her to perform are play dead and high five. She enjoys playing with her toys, and her favorite one is a squeaky toy monkey or a squeaky chicken. She also enjoys playing hide and seek with her toys – take the toy and hide it under a pile of bed mats or blankets and squeak it! Then watch her zero in on the sound and try to find it – it’s so cute!

She also enjoys lying on her bed and watching TV with you. Throw a blanket on her when you cuddle up, and you’ll have a perfect night in. Some of her favorite treats are popcorn, marshmallows and peanut butter. Filling a Kong toy with peanut butter and kibbles is the way to this girl’s heart. Get ready for a lifetime of joy with Dolly!

Zoom zoom!

Dear forever Family,

Dolly's trainer would like to take a minute to tell you about your new girl. She is a very playful dog and she is very smart. She will look right in your eyes and wait for a command, and enjoys doing them when it’s time - she especially loves the attention! She's a great dog and is bound to be a great pet. Her trainer enjoys watching her run in the morning, and says that she looks so free and happy doing exactly what greyhounds are best at - zooming (and then snoozing)! She will brighten your days and make every one of them special. Dolly is a wonderful dog and will make a wonderful companion!

Say Cheese!

Here it is. The end of week 7 and Dolly has made so much progress! She learns exceptionally fast and is always ready to train. Dolly also has a personality that’s out of this world! When she gets around new people, she likes to wag her tail, shake her body, kick her head sideways and smile. Yes. You read it right. This girl actually give you a smile when she is very happy to see you.

Dolly’s trainer is spending a lot of time on the quality of her training and she spends a lot of time showing off just how smart she is. She knows all her basic commands and a list of extras that include: Give, shake, high five, play dead, speak and hoop jump. She can’t wait to show you what she has learned. Her trainer said working with Dolly brings joy to his heart and a big smile to his face. Dolly is one of a kind and he will never forget her.

The Best Gal

Dear forever Family,

Dolly's trainer would like to take a minute to tell you about your new best friend. She is an active and playful girl, and loves to play with her favorite toy, a teddy bear. She will chase and play with it all day if you let her! She does not bite her toys, it's more of a nibble - and that's a good thing. She likes lying out on the dog bed and watching football on the TV. Dolly is a very outgoing dog who is always watching and studying everything around her. She does very well with leash walking, and stays beside you during a walk and stops when you stop. Dolly is such a loving dog and her trainer looks forward to working with her more and more every day!

Gentle Sweet Girl

Dear Forever Family,

Welcome to the end of week 5. This week, Dolly has made a ton of progress. She got tens on all of her commands except for leave it and down, but next week they're going to make up for that loss. At night, Dolly's trainer lets her lay on the bed beside him while he watches TV, so to make that time rewarding he has also been working on her first extra command which is speak. And it has got to be the cutest little bark she can muster! Her trainer will look at her and give her the hand signal while also giving the verbal command, and she just stares at him for a minute. Then her tail will start wagging while giving a low soft "woof."

Her trainer thinks that Dolly is one of the most delicate, gentle greyhounds he has ever had the pleasure of working with, and he is positive that she will fit right in when she gets to her forever home.

Darling Dolly

Dolly has been in training for one whole month!  Her inmate trainer says that Dolly is progressing really well.  She takes her time learning new things, but once she’s got it she has it.   She tries to sit for everything thinking she’ll earn a treat for being so cute.

She loves to play with toys and is very easy and gentle to play with.  They’ve been working on leash walking, as Dolly likes to lead the way exploring all things.  She’s learning that she’ll still get to explore and that walking next to her human is the ticket to yumminess and exploration time.

Dolly. The Sit Master.

This week has been the best week yet with Dolly! Her trainer has been working with her on “sit” for the last week and a half and she finally got it. And when I say she got it, I mean she got it. Now everything she does, she sits first thing. Her trainer is one happy guy now that things finally clicked with “sit”. Now on to bigger and better things!

Dolly was introduced to toys this week and her trainer doesn’t think she have them figures out quite yet. She found a squeaky toy that looks like a crazy chicken and she will nibble and lick it to death. She is so sweet, she doesn’t even want to bite a toy.

Dolly is a very sweet and loving greyhound and her trainer is enjoying working with her everyday. He knows you are going to enjoy having her around just as much as he does. See ya next week.

Please Pet Me!

Dear Future Forever Family,

It is the end of week two and Dolly’s trainer is happy to report that she is progressing very well! She works hard and enjoys each training session with eagerness and anticipation. She has an enthusiastic personality, is always happy and sometimes so friendly that it is difficult to hold her attention! However, she is so smart that they tend to cover plenty of ground whenever her trainer does have her full attention. Recently, they have been working on “sit” and sometimes her trainer cannot help but smile because when he gives her the command, she looks amused! She has such a sweet little puppy face.

He has also been working on socializing her; this week, he wanted to make it fun for her, so he put her on a bed in the day room and next to her put a sign that said “p-p-p-p-lease pet me!” Not only did the dorm enjoy that, but she loved it even more! The cutest thing about it was that every time someone walked by and didn’t pet her, she would look up at them like one of those puppies on an animal charity commercial – so needless to say, not many made it past without indulging her with some affection!

That’s it for this week but be sure to check back next week for more!

Happy-Go-Lucky

Dear Future Forever Fam,

Thank you so much for choosing to adopt a greyhound as the next member of your family! If you are reading this, you will be learning about a wonderful hound who has been named Dolly. This dog understands exactly what’s going on here! He has only worked on leash-walking and the name game with her, and she is already very responsive to both!

As far as her personality goes, she is extremely friendly, loving and happy-go-lucky. This dog not only wakes up with her tail wagging, but she somehow sleeps that way as well – must be having good dreams!

Dolly has a beautiful white-ticked and red coat with hypnotic brown eyes. With a perfect combination of personality and charisma, he is looking forward to working with such an amazing dog for the next 10 weeks. He will keep you posted every week about her progress. Thank you again for choosing a retired racer – they’re truly one-of-a-kind creatures!
