Making New Friends

Chase is showing improvement here at the prison, and his colors really shine when he gets outside! It's a wonder why he was moved to retirement because he runs almost nonstop when he's outside. Because he is very timid by nature, the focus this past week has been introducing him to as many people as possible. While he's not quite the social butterfly, he is allowing more people to approach him than he was before.

During the quiet part of each morning, his inmate trainer allows him to roam freely around the dorm in hopes that he will gain confidence. Chase is still not a big fan of sudden loud noises. Of course, who can blame him? We all enjoy some peace and quiet!

Chase has all but mastered "heel," he stays on his bed well and has started responding to his name and coming when called. His trainer is so proud of him and how well he has performed when going up and down the stairs. After a couple of test runs, he now trots up and down them with ease. This sweet and gentle boy teaches everyone at the prison that despite how uncomfortable we might be, we should all persevere, as there's always a chance to grow and learn.
