Polishing Commands

Another week has passed and Miss Mya is doing great. This is the halfway point in the program for the Greyhounds, and during the halfway mark sometimes they will act like they forget how to do their basic commands. Mya is no exception! She has started to be a little bit of a diva. Some of the things she has tried to do is walk ahead on the leash, do halfway heels, and being slow to respond on some commands.

The reason her inmate trainer mentions this is because it happens almost every timeand he wanted to tell you how to fix the problem if it emerges when she reaches her new family. This is always fixable. All you have to do is stay constant with the commands. Don't settle for a half heel; make her do a real heel. While walking on the leash, change speeds at random times. Keep her on her toes. It won't take but a couple of days and the problem will be fixed. The main reason her inmate trainer is letting you know this is because Maya is so cute and sweet and when she looks at you with those adorable eyes, you won't want to correct her. Then, before you know it, she will be running the house.

As for her commands, she is doing very well with all of them. She especially loves the jump command. Her inmate trainer has also been working on extra commands such as hug, leave it, roll over, and he recently added shake. Her favorite extra command is rollover. She's still learning shake and her trainer is hoping by next week that she'll have it down.

Well that's it for now, so check back next week for more updates on the cutest Greyhound around!
