Exploring and Learning

Drake's transition from week two into week three has his trainer impressed to the max! Drake has come out of his shell and has become much less jumpy around others. he still gets a little scared when it comes to sudden movements and loud noises, but he's adapting remarkably well and improving each day. His ability to handle these sudden movements and sounds shows a huge improvement from when he first arrived at Second Chance Greyhound Academy.

Drake is also doing amazing with all of his commands. Sometimes he will tug on his leash during walks (what's that? I have to smell it! And what's that? I have to pee on it!). But a light leash check assisted by the heel command and he'll correct right away. He has shown immense progress on sit and down, two of the hardest ones for greyhounds to master due to their long noodle legs. He performs both without assistance and once he is placed on the bed, he can be alone for minutes at a time without moving! He's quickly grasping stay and before long he'll know all his basic commands, and learn some extras to show off to his new forever family!
