Trax Is The Best!

Trax has been polishing up on his commands and extras during his last week at the prison.  He also mastered the "shake" command in just a short time.  His trainer has mixed feelings about him leaving.  He is happy to know he is doing to a loving family with a greyhound sister, but knows his will miss him.  If only he could stay...

Trax is a greyt greyhound with a very loving and playful personality.  It's never a dull day with Trax.  He has made the past ten weeks a joy for his trainer and he will never forget the greatest greyhound ever!

Happy-Go-Lucky

Swap week with Trax went great.  He had no separation anxiety at all.  Trax is a happy-go-lucky dog who will be happy anywhere as long as there's playtime.  He is a bundle of energy that loves toys, attention, and most of all playing!  His trainers for the week would take a toy (a stuffed cow) and toss it back and forth.  Trax would jump from one side of the room to the other until he wore himself out.  You could tell by his face he was having a ball.

Trax's swap week trainer said he went through all of his commands with no problems and feels he will do fine in his new home.   He's ready for his next step... Forever home and family.

Meet And Greeter

Another fun and exciting week with the amazing Trax.  He is the one to beat when it comes to show and tell.  This is where each greyhound goes through their list of commands in front of everyone.  Trax is on top with 20 commands that he knows well!  Shake hands is the newest command he is learning and he seems to have the hang of it already.  He's a super smart boy and loves to learn new things.

Trax has been getting more yard time this week.  He loves to run and he sure can fly!  He runs up to the other dogs and tries to get them to run with him.  He runs wide open for a bit and then he's ready for a nice long nap.

There are some new faces in the dorm this week and Trax has greeted everyone.  He is a friendly greyhound that has never met a stranger.  Trax would be an awesome pet therapy dog.  He's a born entertainer and loves to meet and greet new people.

This upcoming week is "swap week".  Trax's trainer is sure he will do well.  Tune in next week to see...

Cool, Calm and Collective

Time is flying by with this fine, friendly, likeable hound, Trax.  Everyone at the prison always wants to stop and pet and love on him.  He has such a great personality and everyone loves him.  Nothing seems to bother him.  He is comfortable around crowds and all the noise that goes on at the prison.  Trax is a cool, calm and collective greyhound and his forever family is in for a real treat with this guy!

Trax's training is basically complete.  He knows all of his commands and is very eager to obey.  Trax's trainer says he learns so well and so quick.  There's nothing he couldn't learn and it's been a pleasure working with him.  He is the best greyhound ever!

Master of Fun

Once again, Trax has had another productive week! He has greatly improved on his heel command, which is can be tough for greyhounds since they're sighthounds, and when they see something they want, boy can they go for it! But it's nothing that Trax can't handle. He's been polishing up his other basic commands, and has made massive strides with both duration and distance for the "stay" command. His trainer can walk behind him and out of sight and Trax stays This is yet another feat particularly for greyhounds, who are lovingly called Velcro dogs by many happy greyhound parents.

He worked on stairs this week and still has no trouble going up and down them. Since he's doing so well with his basic commands, he's been focusing on his extras, too. He now has mastered spin, bounce, and speak. His trainer says he won't be surprised if Trax has them mastered one week from now.

Sometimes Trax is having so much fun with a toy that it's like he's on the astral plane, and must be coaxed down to earth with us mere mortals, and relinquish a toy. So, his trainer asked several other trainers to practice "give it" with Trax, and Trax caught on quickly that hey, if I obey this command, I'll get treats from MORE people? Deal.

Wherever Trax lands when he falls from heaven and into your home, you are so lucky to get this bundle of unconditional love and energy and fun. Stay tuned to hear more about how Trax does with mastering those extras!

Happy Days With Trax

Training is half way over with sweet Trax.  His trainer wishes time would slow down a bit.  It's hard not to get attached.  Trax has such a friendly attitude and playful nature.  He'll be one that is unforgettable to the trainers.   Hopefully his new forever family will send pictures and updates on how Trax is doing in his forever home.  The men love to hear about their dogs they train.

Trax is doing great with his commands.  He pretty much knows all his basic commands and quite a few extras, such as speak, spin, bounce, give it and "hup".  Hup is eveyone's favorite, including Trax.  This is where he will jump through a hula hoop.  Show that one to your friends and they will be amazed.  He is so eager to please and loves it when it's time to do a training session.  The sky's the limit on his training.

Toy training is going well also.  His trainer has Trax sit or down before he throws the toy to him.  He doesn't allow Trax to take the toy from his hand.  This helps prevent him from snatching the toy out of someone's hand.  Sometimes Trax forgets his manners, but a quick correction easily fixes that.

Trax makes his trainer happy everyday.  Trax' motto is "Don't worry.  Be Happy!"

Jumping through Hoops (Literally!)

Trax has made great progress this week and has almost mastered all of his basic commands. He only has trouble with two of the basic ones, heel and stay. He is getting better with them every day along with working on the basic commands and a few extras. The extras are spin, speak, bounce, and hop. Hop is the one that his trainer is most proud of. He holds a hula hoop in front of him and says hop and then Trax jumps through it. With bounce, his trainer holds his hands closed in fists, sticks his thumbs up, and says bounce. Then Trax will jump in the air. They have a thing called show-and-tell every Friday, and this past Friday Trax got the chance to show off his extras to some staff members. They were very impressed with how well he performed. Not only is Trax super-smart, but he is also a softie. He'll be just as happy playing with a toy or curled up on a bed getting a good petting. Whoever is lucky enough to get Trax will not be disappointed. See y'all next week for more updates!

Super Greyhound!

What a productive week with Trax!  He pretty much knows his basic commands, so his trainer is working on perfection. Trax is such a smart boy and loves his name.  His tail starts wagging when it's mentioned.  Stair training was on the agenda this week and once again he did great.  Only once did he try to be "Super Greyhound" and jump half way down the steps.  Silly boy.  Now he takes them slow and steady.  Slow and steady wins the race.

Trax loves toys!  His trainer has introduced give it and drop.  Trax either has to sit or down before his trainer will throw the toy.  If he jumps, his trainer will correct him and tell him to sit.   He has picked these up very quickly.  Check back next week for a couple of special extra commands Trax is learning.  You won't be disappointed.

Ready To Impress

Another week has come and gone for Trax and he is picking up on his basic commands very well. He already sits, downs and does bed without being lured with treats.  That is awesome and it's only week two!  Stair training was also on the agenda this week and Trax had no problem going up or down them.  He did have a look on his face like, "what the heck are these things?"

The dorm had a surprise visit twice in one week. One from a gentleman and one from Ms. Patti.  Trax got to show off just what he has learned, and he did not let his trainer down. He got in front of everyone and did his commands almost flawlessly. They were impressed. Trax is such a smart Greyhound.  Whoever adopts him is one lucky duck!

Loving Life!

It’s the beginning of another 10 week training session and Trax is adjusting very well to his new temporary home.  He’s a handsome little boy with the cutest face, and is in doggie heaven when someone gives him scratches under the chin.  He is a very friendly guy that already walks well on a leash with his tail constantly wagging.

Trax is picking up on the basic commands very well.  He is already starting to sit and down on his own.  He also discovered toys.  He loves toys.  Did I say he LOVES toys??  He loves them so much.  His trainer is working with him to sit or down before he receives a toy and is also working with the give it command.  Check back next week for updates on the sweet boy called Trax.
