Ready for the Future

Cooper knows all of his commands very well and will do them without a problem.  He’s an active guy who loves to run and play with the other dogs while in the big yard.  His inmate trainer says that Cooper is an absolute must have!  He’s very friendly and full of love.  He says that once Cooper is bonded with you be prepared to have a four-legged shadow!

If it’s raining outside he doesn’t waste anytime getting down to business.  If it’s really nice weather he loves to lay out in the sun and relax.  His inmate trainer says that he going to miss Cooper very much, but knows that his new forever family will fall fast and hard for this great boy!

Time To Swap Greyhounds

Time for swap week!  The inmate handlers exchange dogs for a week!  The dogs get to experience commands from a new person and time away from the primary trainers.

Copper’s alternate inmate trainer says that Cooper is a big sweet guy who is gentle and easy going.  He responded to all of basic commands with no problems.  He doesn’t mind sharing his food or toys.  When it’s time to play with toys he’ll play with them for a few minutes then seems to lose interest.  He would get a little excited at meal times and forget to hold his “sit” and “stay” while his inmate trainer placed his food in the kennel.  After working on the commands a little he learned that patience gets him a yummy reward.

Cooper didn’t mind being away from his primary inmate trainer this week.  His alternate trainer says that Cooper is a loving dog who is going to brighten the lives of some lucky family.

Boys Just Wanna Have Fun

Cooper has made wonderful progress!  He knows all of his commands!  His inmate trainer says that Cooper is the best dog he’s trained so far and that he absolutely loves Cooper’s personality!

Cooper’s inmate trainer says that when the dogs play in the big yard that Cooper is one of the fastest, if not the fastest dog out there!  He says it’s a beautiful thing to see Cooper run.

Copper is an adorable 2 year old who just wants to be loved on.  His inmate trainer believes that Cooper will be great with kids. His inmate trainer says that working with Cooper has been a true blessing and he is thankful for their time together.

Free Spirited and Loving

Ahem, Cooper here to tell you have things are going.  As you know by now I’m retired from racing and now training for basic obedience; correction, retirement – I’m learning basic obedience.

You know, the world is a great place.  For the first part of my life I got to enjoy the chase and now I have this inmate trainer dude who gives me treats in exchange for understanding human English!  It took me a little bit to understand that he was talking to me in a different language, but now I’m going through my treats . . . errr, commands really well.  I’m not too sure about these stair things my inmate trainer wants me to do.  I mean, really he should get down on my level and take a look at those monsters!  So anyway, I tried it because he asked and the first time I went up I tried to jump off instead of walking down.  But, I swear I thought I was going to roll over on my head trying to come down those things!  I mean do doggie paws stick to do those steps or will my hiney just flip right over my head??!  My inmate trainer played it cool and helped me to realize that it’s not so bad!  I still need to think about it a little more, but I’ll get it all worked out.

If you’re looking for a sweet guy who’s friendly and loves being the center of attention then look not more ‘cause I’m your man!  I’m free spirited and I love to run and play with the other dogs.  If you would, please take a look over to your side… you see that open spot?  I could fill it.  Imagine that, me standing/laying by your side supporting you in life.  Now that’s a dream come true!

Training? No Worries, I Got This!

Cooper is doing really well with training!  He’s improving with the “kennel” command and while “heel” and “stay” need a little more work he's catching on great!  He’s doing a wonderful job with: “down,” “bed,” “here,” “wait,” “let’s go,” “release,” and “hurry.”

Cooper is great around other people, but can be a little shy at times.  He loves to be loved on and can get bouncy and silly at times.  His inmate trainer says that Cooper is a great dog who is going to make a wonderful companion for some lucky family.

Making Progress

Cooper is doing well and making progress every day.  He enjoys playing, treats, and affection. Now that he’s leaving his shy side behind he gets really excited at times and can be a little stubborn about his kennel.  His inmate trainer wonders if maybe his size makes the kennel a little uncomfortable.

Cooper’s training is going really well, too. He’s doing great with “down,” “bed,” and “let’s go.”  He has a little trouble with “heel” but his inmate trainer believes that Cooper will have it figured out in no time.  He also performs “paws up” and is starting to learn how to catch kibble or a toy.

Cooper’s a fantastic boy well on his way to passing his final exam!

Cooper - The Man

Cooper is doing really well with his basic commands!  His inmate trainer sees much improvement with Cooper’s “down” and “heel” commands.  They also worked on the stairs this week.  At first Cooper didn’t know what to think, but with more repetitions he was showing improvement.  His inmate trainer believes that Cooper will have it down to a science in a few days!  He is also doing really well with the “bed” and “jump” commands.

Cooper loves to play and can get a little mouthy while playing.  He doesn’t bite down and his inmate trainer is working to correct this behavior.  Cooper can be a little shy when in a large crowd of people.  He doesn’t mind grooming time and seems to love to play in the bath water!

Next week Cooper’s secondary inmate trainer will be taking a more active role in the training progress.  This will help Cooper to understand that it’s okay to take direction from someone new and it will also help the secondary trainer build on his training skills.

Goofy

Cooper is a goofy boy who loves to run and play in the big yard.  His inmate trainer says that he’s like a kid being silly and goofy while training.  His young at heart personality can make training a bit of a challenge.  He gets a little stressed if training sessions go on too long so his inmate trainer works to keep training short and fun.

This week Cooper was introduced to stairs and it was not an introduction he was fond of.  His confidence will improve once he understands the one foot at a time step method.  He is doing really well with several of his basic commands: hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, wait, and here!

His inmate trainer is very proud of how far Cooper has come in such a sort time!

Warning: Absolutely Adorable

Cooper’s training team has been working on bonding and building trust.  Cooper has been unsure of this new place and large crowds of people.  If strangers approach him while he’s on the leash he will stop and stand still.

Progress has been made over the last 11 days!  Cooper has been happy go lucky and playing more.  His inmate trainer says that when Cooper gets really excited he snorts a lot and will run right up to the person he is seeking attention from.  He picked up a toy and tried shaking it, but it hit him in the face so now he’s thinking twice about the shaking method of toy play.

Cooper doesn’t have any problem with shiny floors and seems to be picking up his commands really well.  He knows kennel and wait pretty well already.  He walks nicely with a loose leash and understands let’s go and release.  He’s responding to his name and will stare down his inmate trainer until he gets a treat! (subliminal messages received!)  He’s working on learning bed, sit, and down.

Cooper’s inmate trainer says that Cooper is a very loving and friendly boy.  He loves to be the center of attention!  He’s absolutely adorable and uses all the cuteness to receive attention from those around him.

Training for a New Life

Cooper has arrived at the prison for training! His inmate trainer says that Cooper is a very loving and caring boy.  He is a friendly guy who wants to explore everything and meet everyone! When he first arrived he was a little shy, but now his trainer cannot go anywhere without him close on his heels.  His inmate trainer says that you couldn’t ask for a better dog than Cooper who turns 2 on 12/24/15.

Cooper has picked up on his name really well and already has the “heel” and “wait” commands well in paw… er… hand.  He is a little reluctant with the “kennel” command.  His inmate trainer will place him in the kennel for 2 hours or so then spends 15-30 minutes training and 45 minutes to an hour playing or relaxing.  His inmate trainer is looking forward to the days ahead raining with Cooper!
