Hector The Happy Hound

Well, we’ve reached the end of the 10 week training program.  Hector’s inmate trainer says that he’s truly enjoyed working with this smart boy.  You can’t help but smile when you’re around Hector!

Hector’s the kind of guy that if you’ve got treats, he’s got time.  He loves to relax on his bed and playing in the yard. His inmate trainer says that he believes Hector is going to make a great addition to his new forever family.

Swap Week Superstar

If you’re following the Second Chance blogs this week, then you’ve probably heard that we just had our swap week! One lucky team had Hector. When he came under their care, he was noted as being a ‘single-handler’ hound who liked his personal space. It seemed a little shaky at first, but within 24 hours Hector had accepted a whole team of people during feeding, playtime and general handling. With consistent bonding time and a few reminders when necessary, Hector quickly realized that they weren’t there to give him a hard time, but to make it better! Hector performed all of his commands extremely well during swap week and his team loved getting to spend time with him!

Hector spent four of the five days of swap week with his team, calmly coexisting. He even relaxed enough to be flat-out lazy! Hector is always a ravenous eater, but even then he was well-behaved. He has a hit or miss level of interest in toys, but he can be a real energizer hound when the mood strikes. This certified Good Boy is going to bring so much joy into your home - prepare your hearts!

Hector The Investigator

Hector is doing great with his commands!  He loves to run and play with toys.  His inmate trainer says that he will do just about anything for a yummy treat! He says that working with Hector has been a truly rewarding experience for both of them!

Hector is the kind of guy who keeps in the know.  He’s aware of everything going on around him and doesn’t mind doing a little investigating, if his human has a little time for exploring.  His inmate trainer says that he believes Hector is going to make some lucky family very happy!

One Week Closer To Forever Home

Hector’s inmate trainer says that this week has been fantastic!  Hector finally played with toys this week!  He’s very close to mastering sit.

His inmate trainer says that it’s been amazing to watch Hector change and grow.  He arrived distant and cautious. Now he’s stepped out of his shell and open to new things.  He takes his time warming up to new people.  He likes to think about it a bit before jumping in and trusting.  His inmate trainer says that it’s worth the wait because Hector has so much love to give!

Sweetie Pie

Hector is a very loving boy!  He loves food and will do anything for a yummy treat.  He loves to run and play and retirement seems to suit him just fine.  His training is going great and he really enjoys laying around on his bed relaxing the day away.

Hector’s inmate trainer says that he’s enjoying training this sweet boy and he can’t wait to see what he learns next.

Living the Carefree Life

It’s week 5. Wow! His primary trainer can’t believe it’s been that long since Hector got there. Time flies when you are having fun.

Hector enjoys running on the big yard. He also enjoys being loved on. Whenever Hector has a spare moment you can catch him lounging around on his bed. He is a very carefree and loving guy that is sure to win you over in no time. Just look at that cute face!!

Training is going well. He knows most of his basic commands well. He hasn’t quite figured out sit and down, but his trainer isn’t worried. He knows he will have them mastered by graduation. He’s very food motivated. Thanks for checking in on Hector.

Mega Sweet Boy

This week has been a great week for this sweet pooch. Hector is enjoying his time at Second Chance Greyhounds Academy. He loves being able to roam around freely and play with his toys, but nothing compares to the love he has for his bed. Relaxing during retirement couldn’t be sweeter for Hector.

Training is going well. He knows hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, here, stay, bed, jump well and needs to improve on wait, heel, sit , down and leave it. His trainer is confident he will have them all figured out in no time. It’s only the fourth week of training and Hector is on his way to becoming a pro at his commands.

Those Eyes Will Get You

Hector has been enjoying his retirement by soaking up all the attention he can get.  He’s not a big fan of loud noises. He doesn’t understand why anyone would want to disturb the peace.

He loves to wonder around and check things out. Laying around in his bed is one of his favorite things to do.  His inmate trainer says that beware of Hector’s eyes… he’ll pull you in and before you know it you’ll be at his beck and call!

Hector the Teddy Bear

This week has been great for Hector and his exploring here at Second Chance. Hector has been working hard learning his commands and some are easier than others. His trainer noticed that this big fawn guy loves the company of others, and especially loves the attention. At first he was very hesitant when it came to being approached by new people. That obviously didn't last long; this guy is growing into his personality very quickly. Hector is a big pooch on the outside, but trust us when we say he's just a big teddy bear on the inside!
