Kisses: Imminent!

Well, folks, we're already at week 10! Where has the time even gone? It feels like this sweet boy just arrived yesterday, and now it's time for Radar to go to his forever home. He is still the same big bundle of joy and can put a smile on your face any time of day, any day of the week. Oh, and not to mention that he will shower you with kisses!

Radar passed his final exam with perfect marks, getting all 10s on all the basic commands. Of course he aced it! He is so smart and sweet. Everyone in the nursing homes and hospitals will love him if you make him a therapy dog. His trainer is certain that he will make the best therapy dog ever. He's been preparing Radar for his forever home. and he is going to be so excited when he meets you! You really are going to enjoy this sweet boy for years to come.

Fantastic Mr. Radar

This week was swap week, and Radar got to hang out with a new trainer. This guy has lots of energy that he loves to spend running and playing. He was so much fun to be around! Radar is so sweet and playful and he adapted to being around his swap week trainer so quickly. His trainer had a ton of fun with this handsome guy, and to top it all off, Radar got all 10's during show and tell, which means he has no problem doing commands for a new person - like you, his future forever family!

The Einstein Of Pups

IMG_9276.JPG

Well guys, it's week 8 and Radar is still the most loving and sweetest creature to be around.  He'd give you kisses every second of the day, if you'd allow him to.  Radar is still the dog version of Einstein!   He should have be named Albert...  Get it?  Albert Einstein.  He is so smart and loves to learn new things.  Radar has learned over a dozen extra commands.  MR. BRAINIAC!!!  The commands "visit", "shake", "rollover" and  "paws up" will be show stoppers at any meet and greet, nursing home, airport or hospital.  His trainer said he will be a great therapy dog and everyone will love him.

P.S. Radar learned the command "scoot" this week, which is code word for  back up.  He is also learning "cover" or "cover your eyes".  He is picking it up very quickly.  He hasn't mastered the last one, but he is well on his way.  I wonder what else his trainer is cooking up for Radar to learn...

Radar, The Magnificent Greyhound

Can you say AWESOME?  Yes Radar is all that and so much more.  He is incredibly smart that he is learning even more commands as the weeks progress. It's quite the list, so get ready to write them all down.

Radar has recently learned "spin" and absolutely loves it.  He loves it so much, he makes a show out of it.  If he is really excited when he "sits" or "downs", he will turn it into a spin-sit or spin-down.  He has also became a master at "bow" to the point he will now do a bow - stay!  He's incredible!!!

This week Radar's trainers started working on "visit".  It won't be long and he will be a pro at that too.  He is such a wonderful hound and totally LOVES kibble.  He can get excited at times, especially around feeding time, if he hasn't had any opportunities to burn off that excess energy.  Radar's trainer knows he has mentioned it, but wants to stress the point.... Radar is a licker!:)  He can't seem to keep it to himself.  Be prepared for a big 'ole wet, smacker to the face or lips.  It's going to happen... ready or not!

Most Loving Boy in the Known Universe!

Well, Radar is hands down (or should I say "hounds down," hehe...) the smartest, sweetest dog his trainer has ever worked with. He has progressed so well with his basic commands and has already learned TWO extras! Roll over and bounce.

Radar's intelligence still amazes his trainer. He is an over-licker as well as an overachiever. He loves to lick all the time, but this goofy boy who can't seem to hold his licker will brighten up your day with his gentleness and grace. He is such a sweet boy! Radar just loves everyone he meets.

He had another session with the stairs this week, and just like he did with his commands, he knocked those stairs outta the park. He is so confident and smart. I don't think there's anything this brainiac couldn't do! Maybe slip a Calculus book underneath his kennel bed... Hey, maybe he'll be able to teach YOU about derivatives and integrals in exchange for some tasty treats!

Radar's training overall is going extremely well. He will continue to polish his commands while being the SWEETEST, most LOVING dog possible!

Next Top Dog!

Another week down and what a productive week it has been for Radar!  Considering how well Radar has been doing with all of his basic commands, his trainer figured it was probably a good time to start working on everyone's favorites... EXTRAS!

Radar is a natural when it comes to obedience commands, which surprised his trainer.  Given his high energy level, his trainer assumed he would become distracted easily, but Radar does a great job maintaining focus during his training sessions.  The first extra they started on was "roll over".  At first his trainer had to physically flip him over, but now he has gotten to the point where he just has to lure him slightly and he will completely "roll over".  It's still a work in progress, but Radar is doing an admirable job.

"Paws up" was the next extra.  His trainer can't even really say when they started working on it.  First try, his trainer said "paws up" while giving him a treat and he did it no hesitation.  His trainer's have a few more extras in the works, so be sure to continue following Radars steady progress.  He is one astounding pup!!

Goofy Genius

Well, as always, Radar's training is progressing at an astonishing rate. He had yet another go at the stairs this week, and yet again his trainer is amazed at his proficiency climbing them! Especially considering the fact that this was only the second time in his entire life that he's had to deal with that type of obstacle. Although, even more impressive than his stair-training session was when he tried "jump" for the first time - I do declare, this young man must have been a grasshopper in a previous life! He had to be coaxed on the initial attempt, and that was it. Jumping is second nature to this glorious goofball. Radar went from not knowing "jump" as a command in the slightest, to being a leading expert on Jump Studies after TWO attempts!

This just goes to reinforce our past claims about how incredibly smart this sweet boy is. He is having some minor issues with those pesky laws of Physics. Darn you, Isaac Newton! Radar learned Newton's first law of motion this week - "An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force." Put this in a physics textbook: Radar ran, couldn't stop, slid, and BOOM! Down goes Radar. He brushed his little shoulders right off and is doing great after that hiccup. Until next time! Let's see how Radar handles the next law of physics...

I dare you not to love me!

Well folks, Radar is off to the races! This boy must not have gotten the memo that he's tired because when he's let off the leash for turn out, he tears that field UP! The same could be said twofold about learning his commands. He's doing better than his trainer could have even imagined. He might even start pre-Calculus by week 6!

This young handsome dude's personality is just amazing. He is a lover through and through, and capable of brightening up anyone's day. ANYONE. Even Squidward. At the drop of the hat, your day can be made with one easy payment of loving Radar.

Radar still isn't quite sure how to go about playing with toys, but for training purposes kibble and treats work wonders! Radar LOVES his food. He's going to start learning "settle" this week, and "wrong" as a corrective command. His trainer believes he will catch onto this easily, with awe-inspiring speed, just as he has with the rest of his repertoire of commands. His trainer can't wait to give you more updates on Radar's astounding progress, so until next time! Au revoir!

Sneaking a Smooch

Well, after Radar's incredibly exciting intake process last week, this week may seem dull in comparison! Radar is settling in nicely and learning his commands at an incredible rate. I daresay he may be the canine equivalent of Einstein! Minus the whole physics thing, of course. He's not that up to speed on inertia, or that trying to take off at a dead sprint on a shiny floor does NOT work (no grip!).

Radar is such a sweet and affectionate boy with a great personality. He is always happy and ready to go. Warning: licking is imminent! It's true, Radar cannot hold his licker. It's not a constant thing, nor is it sloppy when it does happen, but be aware that he will sneak up and plant one on you when you least expect it! He has begun working on his basic leash-walking manners, wait, heel, bed, leave it, release, here, and sit, all of which his trainer is tempted to say he has already mastered.

He also did some stair training this week and his trainer was amazed at his proficiency. Between you and me, he did better than some humans I've seen! ;)  Did I mention those ears?  Don't you just love them??

Radar is doing extremely well and we can't wait to update you next week on his progress and licking shenanigans!

A Whole New World

Well gang, I don't know what I have gotten myself into! Radar here sending out an S.O.S. to anyone listening! I always pictured retirement in a much different setting than this. There are no beaches, no golf courses, or five course meals of peanut butter. No bacon strips, or low-fat yogurt. What gives?!

Well, it turns out that I was in for a lot of pampering! The trainers were very impressed with my hygiene, but I had to take a bath with a bunch of OTHER NAKED dogs! Ahhhh! Wait a second.... I'm always naked...

In just 10 short weeks, I will be prepared for my real retirement - my forever home! Until next time, Radar signing off!
