Quincy the Goof

Quincy has made many small strides this week in training. He has improved his response to basic commands and his trainer is even considering teaching him a trick or two. Quincy has also become more submissive with giving up his toys at playtime. He is working on the drop it command to aid in retrieval of toys and other items that he may be reluctant to give up. Drop it tells him to freely release the item from his mouth and abandon it so that you can pick it up and remove it safely. This helps when Quincy is being a little bit stubborn and wants to play keep away instead of giving up his toy. It is not necessarily a corrective command, but it should be said in a firm authoritative voice so that he knows that playtime is over and he needs to give up his toy.

This coming week, his trainer hopes to improve Quincy's response time and see if he can find ways to increase his focus on his handlers. He also wants to see if he will be able to learn any extra trick commands. Quincy is doing great and improving every day.
