Forever Family. A Dream Come True.

Hey, guess what??  The next time I walk out of the prison door, I will be going home to my forever family!!  I found out I'm adopted.  Isn't that great?  I can't tell you how excited I am, but my face says it all.  I love to love, and now I will have people of my very own to love forever.  I will have my own bed, toys and family all to myself.  Dreams really do come true.

I owe a lot of my success to my inmate trainer.  He has taught me so much over the past ten weeks and I will never forget him.  I hope he never forgets me either.  Baron here.  Until next time..

Quirky Boy

This week was swap week, and Baron's swap week trainer had a blast with him. Baron is a loving, very playful, and quirky dog who is a little bit shy around new people. He's a little bit hard to win over, but once you do, he is an amazing companion. He has such a vibrant personality and is one of those dogs you would see on America's Funniest Home Videos doing something super silly.

Zoom Zoom!

Baron had a ton of fun this past week. His energy level is a lot higher than when he arrived, which is a good sign - he adapts and gets comfortable pretty quickly, and should have no trouble adapting to the wonders of his forever home. He is so entertaining to watch in the yard. When it's his team's turn to have fun, he takes off full speed until he comes to the volleyball court, then circles it as fast as he can (I wonder if that's an old habit from the track! Gotta run in a circle!). Baron brings a smile to everyone around him and is sure to bring a smile to you, too!

Next Walmart Greeter... Baron

Baron has really opened up since he arrived at the prison.  He was a friendly boy from the start, but is now playful as well.  He loves toys and will wear himself out in a few minutes of intense play time.  Baron has never met a stranger and feels he must greet everyone around him.  Beware if you are sleeping.  Baron likes to surprise you with a nose and licks (kisses) to the face!

Baron's training is going well and he had no problems with jump or stairs.  Baron has a great personality and his trainer hopes whoever takes him home enjoys him as much as he has.  He's a keeper.

Ladies Man

Baron has a good time this week and is progressing well in his training.  He knows all of his commands well, except heel and sit.  His trainer will work extra hard this week on those two.  He's sure he will have them figured out in no time.

Baron loves his time on the big yard and will run with his team to the point of total exhaustion.  He's a ladies man on the yard and his two girlfriends will take turns trying to chase him down.  He loves the thrill of the chase.  LOL

Testing on the basic commands was this past weekend.  Baron did very well, even though he wanted to stop and love on everyone he saw.  Baron has a very sweet personality and any family will be lucky to get him.  He's a true gem.

Baron, Ruler of Toys and Cuteness

Baron discovered toys this week! They didn't have some of these kinds of toys at the track, so at first he was unsure of what exactly he was supposed to do with them (friend or foe? Hmmm...), but after a few play sessions, he was like, "oh, I got this." After each training period, he plays for a little while with his trainer. He gives it his all for about 5 minutes and then collects all the toys on his bed and just lies down with them. He's really living up to his name: Baron of the Toy Kingdom.

Baron is also a very friendly dog with every person he comes into contact with, and gets along great with his four-legged classmates. He does not have a dominant personality and is a quick learner. Tune in next week to find out how his toy empire is growing!

Tail Wagging Pup

Baron has done very well this last week.  He is opening up more and more as he gets more comfortable with his new surroundings.  At first he did not want to leave his kennel, but now he feels more secure and likes to walk around and visit with everyone.  He's such a happy boy and his never stops wagging.

Baron's trainers started working on the commands:  "bed", "kennel", "down", "here" and "sit".  It is going well.  "Sit" is not a natural position for a Greyhound, but he's catching on to the idea.  Baron is a friendly Greyhound and his trainer is looking forward to watching this sweet boy blossom over the coming weeks.

Happy Shy Sweetie

It's only been a few days, and Baron is still a little shy and unsure of his new environment. But this is very normal for a Greyhound in a brand new environment, and he is an absolute sweetheart. Baron is more motivated by praise than by food or treats, and has already started to feel more comfortable in his kennel. He has what is called a "happy tail," meaning that he wagged his tail with so much force that it broke against something and had to be partially amputated - but don't worry! This is actually fairly common with Greyhounds and their long dragon tails and friendly dispositions. It doesn't cause him any problems, and when he gets his excited, his cute little half-tail wags and wags!

Tune in next week to see how Baron is adjusting to his new life of learning and getting loved on!
