Master of Stay, Future Master of Shiny Floors
/Great progress on commands this week with Adele! She's pretty much mastered sit, down, here, and bed. She still needs to work on staying on her bed, and she's doing great at kennel. Plus, she's staying for the most part when her trainer walks straight back and forth. She still needs to shape it, by extending the "stays" further back and having her trainer do a 360 around her while she stays put.
She's doing great with jump, which she had flat-out refused to do it first, but after a few days starting from a low rise, she worked her way up to about two and a half feet using only kibble as a motivator. She is really motivated by kibble and food treats.
There was a slight setback this week on the shiny floor in the hallway; she had slipped one time on the floor and now is a little scared to walk on it. Like a lot of dogs here, when she loses traction, she gets spooked and puts her toes out which is the worst thing to do because then you get even less traction. So, this is something that her trainer will be working on next week. She does fine if she hugs the wall all the way, so they're doing that for now. Also, her trainer is going to take some time on the weekends when nobody's out there to practice walking in the middle. She just needs to get her confidence back and her trainer is up to the challenge and believes in her 100%. How could you not believe in a girl this gorgeous, sweet and smart?
