Lounging Is Top Choice

Frankie’s inmate trainer says that working with Frankie has been a great pleasure.  He’s a smart and loving boy who passed his graduation command test.  He loves to run and play, but relaxing around in bed all day seems to be his top choice.  He loves to be loved on and a treat now and then doesn’t hurt his feelings either.

As another session comes to a close, his inmate trainer says that Frankie will be forever remembered and missed.  Knowing he’s going to a forever home makes it all a little easier.

Eager To Please His Human

Swap Week has arrived!  Time to see how the hounds do with alternate inmate training teams… and to see how the inmates do with alternate dogs.

Frankie’s alternate inmate trainer says that Frankie was a true angel.  He said that he enjoyed having Frankie’s company.  He said that Frankie is very smart and catches onto everything quickly.  He’s obedient and eager to please.  Frankie loves to be praised for a job well done!

Frank LOVES Everyone!

Frank gets along with everyone and loves to hang out on his bed.  He’s also a big fan of playing, running, and attention.  Frank’s a friendly outgoing guy who calms easy.  He’ll do anything for food!  His inmate trainer says that he’s enjoyed every minute working with Frank, and says that he’s looking forward to seeing what Frank learns in the days ahead!

He's Everything You Could Ask For

Frankie’s inmate trainer says that Frankie has enough good qualities to turn a non-dog person into a dog enthusiast!  He believes that Frankie is everything a family could want in a hound… obedient, smart, playful and loving!

So there is one thing you should know about. Frankie may have a slight narcissist side… Last week he did a great job during Show and Tail.  They were headed off stage and everyone started clapping… Frankie made an immediate u-turn to speed back to center stage and excitedly greeted the judges with his tail wagging like crazy.  It was one of the most adorable moments ever!

Good Times

Frankie is doing wonderful with his commands. He need to work on sit and down, but has the others mastered. He loves to play with toys and run, but calms easily after playing. He also loves to lay around on the bed. Frankie will do just about anything to be loved on and for treats. He loves to be brushed and hugged. He is a super sweet hound and his trainer can’t wait to see what next week has in store. Until then…. over and out.

One Smart Cookie

Frankie’s trainer said the most rewarding part of dog training is the moment when a command you’ve been working on clicks in the dog’s mind and he does it on his own. It’s a feeling of accomplishment and a proud moment.

There are dozens of little nuances involved in shaping certain behaviors that a trainer might spend days training, but they only take Frankie one session to comprehend. This week Frankie’s trainer started teaching him “jump” using the station they assembled in the day room. His trainer pointed to the jump station and said “jump”, then lured Frankie with a special treat. He tried it again a couple minutes later (this time without a treat) and he immediately jumped. Of course, once Frankie was up there, he played down and looked at his trainer with those big brown eyes expecting a treat. Just like “bed”, getting him up there is the easy part. Getting his lazy self off? That’s another story. For now, that still takes a bribe (treat). LOL

Frankie is a one of a kind hound and whoever adopts this smart boy is in for a real treat.

Fetch Frankie

Frankie has mastered kennel, wait, leave it and here. He enjoys playing with toys. His trainer can throw it. Frankie will play with it for a bit before bringing it back and dropping it at his trainer’s feet to throw again.

Frankie’s trainer introduced sit into his feeding routine, which has helped him grasp it better. They also introduced stairs. He can already climb and descend stairs with very little difficulty. Frankie is a smart hound and catches on quickly. His trainer is happy with his progress so far.

Curious Couch Potato

Frankie’s personality has really began to show this week. He’s a curious, couch potato hound with small bursts of playfulness. Followed by more greyhound laziness.

Frankie is continuing to make steady progress in learning his commands. He’s almost mastered Kennel, wait, and leave it. He has now started learning how to sit. Next week his trainer will introduce more commands.

Toys were introduced this week. Frankie enjoys playing with them for about 5 - 10 minutes before returning to his bed. Frankie practices good toy etiquette, showing no signs of possessiveness. In fact he’s very submissive . Until next week…

Handsome Guy

It’s been a busy second week!  Frankie has been working on kennel, bed, wait and leave it.  His inmate trainer says that so far Frankie’s favorite command is bed!  Frankie seems to be taking retirement very seriously.  Teaching bed was easy, but teaching him to release from bed has required a bit of yummy motivation in the form of treats.  Thankfully, he’s very treat and affection motivated.  He loves attention from anyone.  His inmate trainer says that Frankie is a very intelligent boy and is making training seem like a breeze

Intelligent Hound

Training time for Frankie!  According to Frankie’s inmate trainer he’s got soulful brown eyes portraying a calm intellect beyond his two years.

Frankie was very cooperative during the bathing/grooming intake process.  Within the first 24 hrs he adjusted to his new environment, seeming right at home relaxing in his kennel.  Frankie is already showing rapid progress in his leash walking capabilities.  He seems to be a natural learner.  His inmate trainer says that he’s excited to have the opportunity to train such an intelligent hound!
