The Ultimate Pet

Wings passed his final test with flying colors!  He has officially reached the next level of dog:  A Second Chance Greyhound; the ultimate pet.  His trainer was glad for the extra week with him for the holidays because he was not ready to say goodbye yet and it helped him have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  Out of all of the dogs his trainer has worked with in the program, he has felt closest to Wings.

Wings has had an amazing journey with his trainer but will be ready and eager to soar on to new grand adventures with his adoptive family.  As an extra trick, Wings has learned to “Shake” hand/paws, which he loves!  He can “Roll on his Side” to show his belly on command and is probably waiting to get that belly rubbed too.

Wings is a wonderful friend with a fun personality.  His trainer cannot imagine a better-looking greyhound.  He is a well-muscled, perfect sized dog with a great coat coloring and the handsomest face.  Wings has the cutest smile when he lies on his back to be petted.  His trainer had already grown attached to him from the first day they met and will cherish the memories they have shared.

Wings is loved so much and is going to be a best buddy to his new forever family.

Look At Me

This past week was Swap Week for  Wings and an alternate inmate training team.  His alternate inmate trainer said that he enjoyed running through the commands with Wings.  He’s highly treat motivated and ready to work anytime you’re ready.  He uses his eyes to tell you what he wants and if you’re not paying attention he’ll stare a hole right through you till you get his point.

What’s a Swap Week you ask?  Well it’s the time in training where the inmate trainers swap dogs for the week.  They test to see how the dogs do responding to commands given by someone other than their primary training team.  They also see how the dogs do away from primary team.  It’s all part of the process of getting them ready for their forever homes! And Wings did great!

Second Chance Champion

Wings’ trainer is excited to share his enthusiasm for this guy once again this week, because he can’t say enough good things about him! Every time he looks at Wings, his heart swells with love. He is such a handsome guy and you could just hang out with him forever. He enjoys being around his trainer, and is always looking at him, rolling around on his belly, or doing his classic quirky antics just to be cute whenever he sees his trainer is watching.

Wings has also shown significant improvement that has been amazing to watch, and he has improved on his behavior and manners, too. He’s ready for adoption right now in his trainer’s opinion! He has skillfully performed his commands for a while now, and he has also learned to be more patient. He walks by his trainer’s side without my trouble, and his trainer considers him a Second Chance Champion!

One thing Wings does that’s funny is how he gobbles up his food; he could win any contest for fastest eater ever! His trainer is thankful to have Wings as a companion during this holiday season, and although he will miss Wings, he can’t wait to hear all about him going to his new family! He wishes he could keep him for himself, but is so happy that some lucky duck is getting to adopt this most excellent hound.

Tasty Treats = 1 Happy Hound

Wings has had a great week! His inmate trainer says that Wings knows all of his basic commands! He has acclimated well to daily life at the prison. He enjoys laying on his bed relaxing the day away. He’s treat motivated so he doesn’t have any problem learning things in exchange for a yummy treat.

Wings is the kind of guy who likes to investigate his surroundings. He loves to sniff and explore. He loves to get lots of attention for everything he does. He wants everyone to pet him and provide treats at all times. His inmate trainer says that Wings is a truly a king in his own mind.

Unforgettable Goofball

We are halfway through the session, and Wings’ trainer knows why time has flown by so quickly: there’s no better dog to train than this guy! All of the dogs in this class are doing well, but Wings is definitely a favorite. He already knows his commands and does very well when it’s time to do them for other trainers, so he is sure to breeze right through final exams to get to the graduation stage.

Wings’ trainer says that it’s been both rewarding and hilarious to watch his behavior and manners improve. He has such a voracious appetite that he looks like a cartoon dog inhaling food like a vacuum sometimes! He is so quirky and loves to gobble up his food, and is so treat-motivated that it has made training him a breeze. He has learned to be more disciplined since he arrived, and his trainer is happy that the program and regimen have worked so well at instilling self-control and manners.

Wings and his trainer always have fun when they’re together, and his trainer especially loves watching him run and play. There isn’t any sight in the world like watching a greyhound run – even if they aren’t coordinated, it’s like watching something from another planet glide over the earth! His trainer loves him so much – his fur is so soft and his eyes are full of intelligence and gentleness. Just looking at him makes you want to pet him all day long! It will be hard for his trainer not to be a part of this special guy’s life forever, but he knows that Wings will be such a special blessing to your family. He is not just a greyhound, he’s a GREAT hound! He is one dog who is impossible to forget, and whichever family is lucky enough to get him should know that he brought so much joy to his trainer’s life in just the first 6 weeks of this program. You have a whole lifetime to fall in love with this fella!

TV Watcher

Wings has had a good week.  He knows all his basic commands, so now his trainer is working on his response time.  He’s doing better on the leash and not pulling as much. He still gets excited when people are around, but with a little correction he’s back on track, walking beside his trainer.

Wings loves lounging around in his bed.  He will roll over onto his back begging for all your attention and hoping for a good belly rub.  He loves to watch TV.  He will stare at it, trying to figure out how to get whatever it is on the screen.  It’s so funny to watch.

One Smart Boy

Wings got to run in the big yard this week and loves it!  His inmate trainer says that Wings makes a remarkable silhouette against the dawn sky.  His current running mates are two girls dogs.  He says it’s fun to watch them play and have a good time.

His leash skills have been showing great improvement!  So far he’s only mildly curious about toys, but he’s always excited to get treats!

His inmate trainer says that it took about 3 weeks to introduce all the basic commands.  Wings knows them all now and performs them very well at Show and Tell.  His trainer believes that it’ll be easy to iron out the details because he’s such a faster learner.  They’ll focus on consistency and treats of course.

Wing’s inmate trainer says that Wings makes him feel full of hope and inspiration. He said that one evening they were watching TV and Wings rolled onto his back and right off the mat.  He got right back up and put his paw on his knee so she could hold his paw and console his injured pride.  He told Wings not to be embarrassed no one was watching.

Wingman

Wing’s inmate trainer says that Wings is going to be a top graduate.  He says that Wings is a great buddy and wingman.  Wings did great at the dog show responding really well to all of his current commands.   The next commands they will work on are: down, jump, and toy etiquette.

Wing’s inmate trainer says that Wings is curious about everything and is very smart.  His leash walking skills have improved and he’s “heeling” on command without a lure!

Wings maintains a fun and loving demeanor.  He’s docile when getting his nails trimmed and doesn’t seem to mind having his teeth brushed.

Angel Of A Dog

It has been a great week with Wings! They had their first “dog show” to check how they are progressing, and Wings showed off his skills, doing everything his trainer has taught him so far.

Wings had a birthday on the 22nd! His trainer gave him a Kong filled with peanut butter! Yum. Happy Birthday Wings. Enjoy your special day. You deserve it.

Training has exceeded his trainers expectations. Wings stands out in the pack as one of the smartest dogs in the program. He is learning “heel”, “sit” and “stay”. Wings is an angel of a dog with a sweet and friendly disposition. He is laying in his kennel, totally content, feet in the air. Daydreaming of his new forever family!

Life Is Good

The new canine trainee is everything his trainer would look for in a dog.  A real winner.  The name Wings suggests speed and grace of flight and the personality of an angel, and it’s true.  He is a dog with great all-around character and health, craving adventure, yet loving affection.  His beautiful reddish-brown coat with a darker face, makes him one of the most handsome dogs he’s ever had.

Training so far has been filled with early successes.  Wings enjoys training time and is easily motivated by food.  He is already good at “bed” and is showing progress with leash walking and waiting at doors.  He is a fast learner and loves treats and attention for doing a good job.

This week, Wings turns 2!  Happy birthday and enjoy your special treat!  I hear there are some extra belly rubs in store too!
