Time for hugs!

This week, one of our training teams was spoiled by having a calm, gentle and affectionate girl greyhound... Miss CJ! This was swap week, where trainers trade dogs to test for separation anxiety and obedience (performing commands from new people). CJ did just as expected: no difficulty whatsoever!

Even though she's not motivated by food or treats, she IS motivated by praise and love. She did all of her commands perfectly during show and tell. She doesn't really play with toys (hey, she's an old lady, and those are for rowdy kids anyway), but that doesn't seem to be an issue since she prefers to lie around and be loved on!

Her swap team trainers let her wander around the dorm off leash a few times, and every time she just strolled up to people to be petted and hugged. She is by far the most loving and laid-back dog her trainers have ever met! Her forever family will feel beyond blessed to add this gorgeous, sweet girl to their family!

Long Girl, Big Heart

CJ continues to dazzle with her proficiency in commands and thrive in her environment. She just enjoys life and being loved on by everyone! It's really the simple things that make her feel at home. She is getting ready to go to another trainer for swap week (it's so hard to give them up for those 7 days!) and she'll get to show off to a brand new trainer. "See? You CAN teach an old girl new tricks!"

Oh, and you know who else she's getting ready to meet? HER NEW FAMILY! That's you! She's been practicing really hard not just on her commands but getting ready to love you to the moon and back!

Shake. Shake. Shake, CJ

This week CJ worked with an inmate trainer who had not yet had the opportunity to work with her.  She did really well working with someone different giving her commands.  She also worked on stair training and…. Started playing with toys!!

CJ is doing great with her commands and knows a lot of them with verbal and hand signal ques.  She’s started working on the “shake” commend and picking up fast!  The treat rewards are not a bad deal either!

Basking in Retirement

Another wonderful week with Miss CJ and she has continued showing that she knows her commands and continued stealing hearts. She's an easy-going dog and she's one of our older girls, and boy does she have lots of love to share. CJ doesn't really care for running or toys - her activity of choice is to be petted and loved on! She could just lie around all day and bask in retirement while you read a book or catch up on all those things in your Netflix queue.

Be sure to check back next week on sweet CJ. She'll probably still be lying around and being precious, but you never know... her adorable factor could double! Or even triple!

Ready To Steal Your Heart

CJ has been working hard this week on her basic commands and has improved so much.  She impressed the judges at "show and tell" and is well on her way to mastering them all.  "Bed" is still her favorite command, but who doesn't like a little nap now and then.

Hey CJ fans out there!  Are you looking for a loving girl that likes to kick back and relax?  Has never met a stranger. Loves being petted. She will listen to your troubles, give you loving and not talk back.  Then CJ is your gal!

Sweet Loving Girl

CJ is a sweet loving girl! She loves being around people and enjoys time in her kennel.  She’s doing great with training!  Her favorite command is “bed.”  This is retirement after all.

She hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet and seems more interested in watching others over exert themselves with play.  Her inmate trainer had her work on the stairs this week and she did really well!  They also tackled “jump” which she handled nicely. She’s well on her way to mastering all her commands!

Old Dog, New Tricks

Well another week with CJ has come and gone, and she is coming along very nicely with her commands. She really enjoys the day bed and being around people. She also loves roaching in her kennel, and it's so cute to watch! So far the extra command she is learning is "leave it," and it's coming along well. CJ may be an old girl, but she proves that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Especially when treats are involved... ;)

Affectionate Girl

Cj is coming right along with her commands.  She’s laid back and seems to be really enjoying retirement.   Her inmate trainer says that she’s an affectionate girl who loves attention.  She’ll use those big brown eyes on you and you can’t help but dish out all the attention she wants.

She’s doing well with her commands and has caught onto hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, wait, here, sit, down, stay and bed.  Heel, sit, and jump are still works in progress but her inmate trainer has no doubt that she’ll have those down soon enough.
