Top Pupil

Hey Second Chance family, Olivia’s Secondary Trainer wanted you to know that she had her final testing this week and once again received perfect scores across the board on everything she has been expected to learn and know during her training.  Olivia has constantly been the top pupil of her class and has exceeded above and beyond all expectations of her.  Olivia is extremely smart and willing to please and obey her trainer.  She loves to just be with and near her trainer to give and receive affection.

Olivia has been such a blessing and her trainer has received so much joy and had lots of fun working with her, watching her learn, grow and come into her own personality.  Olivia has become a companion and friend in the short time she and her trainer has spent together and he is sure she will be that for her new family for a lifetime.  Just one look and Olivia with steal your heart.  The look in her eyes seem to penetrate and flood your heart with love and make everything fade away and put a smile on your face.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Here comes Olivia!!  Congratulations!!!

Smart And Outgoing

This week I spent it at a strangers kennel, but I’m back now. I had a blast visiting. These guys saved a bunch of special treats just for me. Yep. I’m special. They also knew about scratching a pup’s itchy spots, so I felt just like I was at home. Speaking of home, I can’t wait to get to yours. You are giving me the best present I could have for Christmas and that is a permanent home and a new life with your family.

Gotta go. Training time is calling me. By the way, I’m one of the smartest and most outgoing dogs in this place, so be prepared for my Awesomeness!!! See you soon!

Friendly Gal

Hey everyone! It's been a pretty relaxing week for Olivia. She and her trainer have mostly just been working on reinforcing the commands that she already knows and doing a little bit more work on play dead. She picked up on play dead very easily, just like she did with everything else, so now it's added to her extras list. She also had a couple play dates on the small yard with her classmates Aspen Sunset and his brother Aspen Snow Storm. She really enjoys having a friend to play with and it has helped her open up and enjoy playing so much more. It is great to see her become more and more playful every day; she can still be very uneasy around new things and unsure of herself sometimes, but she has made great progress. She really finds comfort in having a companion, whether it's a person or another dog. One of her favorite things to do is go around and greet everyone!

She also loves learning new tricks, but that may just be because she gets a reward. She has started walking around the dorm with her alternate trainer this week and should have him leashed trained in no time. Well, that's all for this week. Check back later!

Greyt Choice!

Hey Second Chance Family and all my other followers! It’s me, Olivia, here to update you on another week of training. I want you to know I’m doing great! I have lots of fun learning and experiencing tons of new things. I’m getting ready to come join you at my new home, so I can be the best well-mannered, loving friend ever. I have been working on perfecting my commands and tricks that I have been taught here and I’m making everyone so proud of me. I know you will be too. I love making people happy and seeing how pleased they are with me is a reward in itself.

My trainers tell me what a joy I am and brag about how smart and what a good girl I am. I really love all the attention and praise I get here. So I guess you could say that I’m exceeding all their expectations. I can’t wait to come and show you what a great choice you have made in choosing me to adopt. We are going to be such good friends! See you Soon!

Olivia

Star Student

Hey everyone! It’s Olivia reporting in on my progress for the week – and oh, boy, do I got a lotta stuff to tell you about!

This week, I was tested for my mid-session progress (like mid-terms for human students), and out of my whole class, I was the only one to get perfect scores across the board! I have even added a few extra tricks: spin, high-five and good-bye. I am so dang smart! Look at me go.

I have also been given the opportunity to perform all of my commands with many of the other trainers to see how well I respond and obey someone different than who I am used to obeying. And of course I aced it!

I had another toy session and let me tell you, I think I am starting to see how much fun these things can be once you get used to them! I really had a ball with a stuffed teddy bear and had a blast playing with him all week.

We had the week off from stair climbing, so I’ll have to get back to you on how that’s going, but I am sure that I will get the hang of it! Shiny slick floors in our hallway sometimes still freak me out a little bit, but I am continuing to get used to them. Like everyone, I have good days and tough days. And sometimes both in the same day! But every day I am making progress, and my trainer tells me that is what counts. All in all, I had a great week and am getting to have so much fun while I learn. I get to give lots of love, which is my most favorite activity. Well, it’s bath time for me – I’ll tell you all about it next week! Later!

Olivia Wants To Give You A "Kiss"

It’s week five and Olivia’s secondary trainer took her to show and tell and she did great for him. They are continuing to work on distance and duration. She understands that she is to hold a command until released or given another command. She’s a very smart girl.

Olivia learned “kiss” this week. This was an easy one for her since she is so loving and affectionate. Next week, on to the “spin” command. She had her second attempt at stairs today and made some progress from last week. Her trainer is sure she will show improvement with more practice over the next weeks.

Play time on the small yard was fun this week. She got to play outside with her buddy, Eli and she loved it. That’s all for now. Check back next week.

Slow and Steady Wins Your Heart

Hey everyone! We have some great news about Olivia. She got all perfect scores at show and tell except for sit, which her trainer thinks was a goof on his part, so don't worry - she sits just fine! She has learned down, jump, and off this week, and she did amazing. They have also been working on give and shake which she does perfect every time.

This week she made her first attempt at the stairs and she did good for her first time. She is not sure what to think about these stairs, but she will get better with practice and persistence. Her secondary trainer has started going through the commands with her and she is performing as well as expected. They also went through all of her commands using hand signals to ensure that she knows them all well, and she sure does. It has been a busy week for Olivia as you can see, and she has done a great job of adapting to all of the changes. She also started running and got introduced to toys. She was not super interested in the toys, but she sure loves running! Well, until next week - later!

Olivia Loves To "Sit"

Hey everyone! As usual, Olivia has done great this week. She is starting to become more playful as she gets used to everything at Jenkins. This week she learned how to sit. She didn’t quite understand what her trainer was asking of her, but she figured it out and now she loves to “sit”. Her trainers have also been working on distance training with “stay” and “bed”. Olivia wasn’t very thrilled with being left alone at first, but realized her trainer was coming back. She has started to “down” on her own, so they are starting to work on that command this week also. She is right where she should be in her training. Catch ya later.

Jumping Right In To The Training Routine

Olivia’s inmate trainer says it’s been an amazing week!  Olivia has been exploring and settling in to her new environment.  She was a little timid at first but has settled in nicely.  She’s made great progress with leash walking and is doing better on the shiny floors.

They’ve been working on “hurry,” “wait,” “release,” “kennel,” “heel,” “bed,” “stay,” and “leave it”.  She knows her name well and makes great eye contact.  As her confidence builds she’s lifting her head more and wagging her tail with happiness.

She had her nails trimmed for the first time this week and didn’t seem bothered by it all.  She doesn’t mind getting her teeth brushed.  So far her favorite thing to do is lay around on her bed or go around to everyone for attention.  Her inmate trainer says that he has no doubt that Olivia is going to do great with training!

Sweet Girl

Hey everyone!

It's Olivia's first week and she is doing pretty well. She did great while getting bathed upon arrival, along with getting her ears cleaned. She has been going around the dorm checking everything out while meeting all the new people. She is progressing very well and seems to be a pretty smart cookie! She has a little bit of trouble with the polished floors in the hallway (spooky shiny floors!) but she will be getting plenty of practice to help her get used to them.

Olivia is so loving and affectionate. She has a beautiful black and white coat with a light copper color on her back half - like a penny! Her trainer can't wait to see how well she does this session and looks forward to updating you every week with more tidbits from her new life!
