Get Ready To Fall In Love

This past week was swap week.  Swap week is where all the trainers swap dogs for a week to make sure they take commands from others and to see if they have any separation anxiety.  This trainer had the pleasure of having Trigger for the week.  He had to tip his hat to his primary trainer.  Trigger does all of his commands with no problems and he does them with enthusiasm that would rival that of a kid in a candy shop on free lollipop Wednesday's.  LOL

Swap week is also usually a time spent missing their own dog/best friend.  That was true in this case, but the blow as softened by Trigger's infectious, loving personality.  His swap week trainer found himself enjoying every minute he got to spend with Trigger.  Trigger is a true, one of a kind, that will steal your heart the instant you meet him.  Get ready to fall in love...

All Around Greyt Hound!

Trigger is an alpha male and proud of it! He likes to lead if he can get away with it when he is being walked, so his trainer is working on that. He's also been working on teaching him to shake hands. He has picked that up fairly well for the short time he and his alternate trainer have been working on it. You are going to love this super cool dog! Trigger is smart, healthy, well-mannered and a beautiful animal.

Peekaboo!

Trigger has spent this week learning an extra command. The command he is learning is called peekaboo! The command works like this: he goes behind a person and pokes his head out from between that person's legs. Since he is highly motivated by treats, it was an easy command for him to pick up on. He got the command down and only two days! He is extremely smart. He's going to spend the next week mastering this command and his trainer is extremely proud of him!

Ice, Ice, Trigger

Trigger's training is moving along well.  He knows all of his basic commands well.  Here they are:  hurry, let's go, kennel, release, wait, heel, here. sit, down, stay, bed, jump and release.  He's a handsome boy that loves playing with toys and running on the big yard with the other greyhounds.

His new true love is... ice cubes!  It won't take him long to figure out where they come from.  I bet when he gets to his forever home, he will be sitting by the refrigerator waiting for his treat!

Check in next week.  Extra commands are coming...

Splish Splash

This week has been an interesting week. Trigger has found his new favorite place on the recreation yard - the water fountain! When his trainer releases him to run, he darts toward the fountain. He loves his water! Now, his trainer gives him ice cubes as a reward for him along with dog treats. Trigger is such an exciting and fun dog to help train. He is going to make a wonderful addition to his forever family!

Will Work For Treats!

Trigger is an amazing Greyhound.  He's cute, sweet and smart.  He has picked up on the basic commands quickly.   He knows most of them well, but is a little slow to respond to wait, stay, bed.   No problem though.  He's got plenty of time to sharpen up on them.  Trigger is highly treat motivated, so I bet he will have them all mastered in no time.

He loves his toys and makes friends with everyone.  His trainer said it's been exciting training Trigger and looks forward to the week's ahead with him.  Till next week...

Happy Boy!

Trigger is coming along so well. He's doing great at heel, and heeling both with and without a leash. He's getting much better at waiting and stay. His trainers focusing a lot of attention on sit and down, since he's side-saddling on both. These are the two toughest ones for Greyhounds though, and it's only week two. He does very well with kennel. He loves to play ever since he's recognized what toys are and he gets along well with all the other dogs. He is an extremely happy dog with lots of energy.

Learning The Ropes

Trigger is a happy greyhound that is very social with humans and pups alike. He has shown some interest in toys and does not seem shy at all.

Trigger learned "bed" on his first day at the prison. His trainer is working on his name and teaching him proper leash etiquette. He's getting the hang of it already. Training is going well with this handsome fellow.  Check back next week for more updates on Trigger.
