Ready For Graduation

As Dart’s days are coming to an end with his trainers, and he comes closer to going to his forever home, his trainer is reminded at how far he has come since arriving at Pulaski. He had to be carried across the floors and hung out in the room. Now he is running across the floors and visiting rooms. Dart has made leaps and bounds. His trainer said it is always sad at the end of the 10 weeks, but knowing he is going to a forever home, makes it all worth it.

Dart’s trainer said it was definitely an adventure with Dart and she will miss him. He’s another blessing she gets to pass on and she hopes you enjoy him as much as they have. Enjoy your new life Dart!

Enjoys A Parade

Exciting news this week! The dogs of Second Chance Greyhounds got to be the Grand Marshalls in the parade at Pulaski! The dogs lead the parade off and got their first chance to be on the compound. Dart was super excited. The dogs were made special Santa hats for the parade. Dart’s big head broke the strap on his, before they even started walking. It was funny. The other inmates seemed to really enjoy the dogs being on the compound. There was a lot of cheering, clapping and of course petting so they walked around all of the dorms. Hopefully they will get to do it again.

Dart has continued to do well with his commands and has even picked up a couple of tricks. He seems to love the cooler mornings to run and play. He still enjoys playing with the soccer ball until he can’t play anymore and goes to lay down.

With the time approaching to say goodbye, the team has no doubt he is going to make a wonderful addition to his new family.

Sweet Disposition

Dart is still the happiest dog around! He has mastered “Stay” and the trainers are still working on the “Heel” command. Dart has bonded very well to the alternate trainer and is very comfortable in his environment.

His favorite toy to play with outside is a large blue ball. If doggy soccer was a real sport, Dart would play all positions and play them well. When he doesn’t have the ball, he is the first to initiate running and the other dogs are not far behind.

Dart’s newly adopted family will love his energy and sweet disposition.

Talk And Play

Dart has been polishing up on all of his commands along with learning some tricks. He is still very hesitant about doing the “Heel” command. His trainer will continue to work on it, but other than that his commands are there.

He still enjoys his time outside, especially when it comes to the soccer ball. Dart will play with that ball until he has worn himself out. He is very vocal when playing which can sound scary, but he is just a big puppy.

His trainers are looking forward to the weeks ahead with Dart.

Puppy Play

Dart really seems to enjoy the cooler weather as his puppy streak has come out more and more. He plays with the balls outside until he literally falls over in the grass. Then he will just lay there with the ball until it is time to go inside. He really enjoys laying in the sunshine as long as it’s not too hot.

Dart is a pleasant dog to have around even though he forgets his size at times. He is working on a couple extra commands, “shake and kiss”.

Soccer Star

Dart is a silly boy, bouncing all over the place and ready to play at a moments notice. He has really enjoyed playing with the soccer ball during exercise times. Dart tends to play more than run at these times, but when he plays he plays until he is out of breath.

Dart and his trainer have been working on “Stay” and “Heel” lately. He is getting the hang of “Stay” but can’t get the concept of “Heel.” She’s sure he will have it figured out soon. They have also been working on some fun commands in between their serious commands. They have been concentrating on “Kiss,” “Speak,” and “Shake” which he is getting “Kiss,” not so much “Speak” and “Shake” right now. Dart is a really good dog.

Big Puppy

Dart continues doing his best when working on commands with his trainer. He has pretty much learned them all, some he responds to, quicker than others.

Dart has taken a very big liking to a large nerf like ball when outside. He enjoys running with his buddy Tony. Dart is absolutely beautiful when he is standing in the sun, ears up and intent on what he is looking at. When he takes off in full stride, he’s gorgeious!

Big Bundle Of Joy

What a difference another week makes. Dart is the complete opposite of the scared dog who wouldn’t even walk on the floor three weeks ago. He now runs across the floor, hops, chases toys and greets anyone that comes into the dorm.

Dart really enjoys playing with plush toys. He will get the toy, take it back to his kennel and will play with it in there for a couple of minutes, then come back out for another toy. He is not a fan of sharing his new toys, but his trainers are helping him see sharing is a good thing.

Dart’s basic commands are coming along very nicely now that he isn’t afraid of the floor. He is getting quicker at responding. The dogs were able to run this week, although Dart did more trotting than anything. His trainer said it was so nice to see him out there and interacting with the other dogs again. He had a great time.

Treat Motivated

What a difference a week has made. Dart is no longer terrified of the floors, although he still does slip from time to time. He is able to trot, play and even hop on the floors without a problem. Dart is five, but he has just as much energy as the younger ones.

He has taken to playing with plush toys. He will play by himself more than with his trainers right now. His trainers have started their basic commands and he is very treat motivated which is a plus. He knows the following basic commands pretty well: “Hurry,” “Let’s Go,” “Kennel,” “Release,” “Wait” and even a couple more. Dart is doing really great.

Handsome Fellow!

Dart is a handsome fellow! He is doing good getting used to his new environment. He’s not a fan of the slippery floors in the dorm. His trainer is steadily working with him on this. It’s a work in progress, but once his paws hit the grass, he is more secure and walks with his head up high.

Dart also is very curious when taken outside but he doesn’t leave his trainer’s side. He likes to explore with her. He does have a couple of toys that he has shown a little interest in. He is a wonderful pup and his trainer can’t wait to see his personality blossom.

Dart is now working on his basic commands with his trainer. He knows “Let’s Go” and “Bed” so far.
