Yep. She Be A Keeper! Just Like Her Race Name.

The time has come for Cheyenne to move on to bigger and better things….Retirement life. And Cheyenne is going to make the most of it.

Cheyenne has come a long way since she first stepped paws in Jenkins. Her trainers are so proud of her accomplishments of mastering all her commands and being such a sweet, bright and loving greyhound. She’s also the fastest greyhound in this group. She leaves all the others in the dust.

Here are a couple of tips for her new forever family: Cheyenne loves peanut butter kibble. She will do anything you ask, as long as peanut butter involved. She also loves to be petted and rubbed on. Her favorite spot is under her arm pits. Yes I know it sounds silly, but she really does love it!

Take great care of Cheyenne. She is one of a kind and is going to win a place in your heart. She Be A Keeper! (just like her race name: Shebeakeeper).

Cheyenne Will Fill Your Heart With Happiness

Swap Week has arrived!  What’s that you ask?  It’s the time when inmates swap hounds.  Wonder why?   Well, the teams see how the hounds do with their new training team.  Are they missing their primary trainer?  Do they take commands from the new team well? Are there an issue that the alternate training team can help work through (delayed response to a command, etc.) It’s all part of the plan in preparing the dogs for their new home.

Cheyenne’s alternate inmate trainer says that working with Cheyenne was a pleasure!  He said she’s one of the most beautiful and sweetest girls he’s ever trained.   She’s got the most adorable ears and fun personality.  She didn’t have any problems being away from her primary training team.  She performed all of her commands beautifully and without hesitation.  Cheyenne is a true sweet heart who is going to fill her new forever home with happiness.

Fastest Gal in Town

Hi there, it's me Cheyenne, AKA the cutest greyhound in the world. If you doubt that, just try adopting me and see for yourself!

There is not a lot to report on this past week, so I'll just hit you with the highlights. Popcorn has officially been upgraded to one of my favorite treats. My primary trainer was eating the yellow pieces that are loaded with butter, and giving me the dry crusty white pieces. We switched roles and got that little problem straightened right out. I'm all about popcorn now!

In other news, it's really hot here at Jenkins! I'm chilling with the air-conditioning right now, but my bathroom is outside in the grass. They should really think about some indoor plumbing for us dogs! Last of all, let's talk about running. Charlie, Taylor, and Sugar tried to dethrone me this week, but instead I smoked them and left them eating my dust!

Well, that's all for this week; see you guys and gals later.

Dog Days Of Summer

Well it’s week seven at the Second Chance Greyhounds Academy, and I’m almost ready to go home. To my forever home that is. In cace you haven’t met me yet, I’m Cheyenne. The cutest greyhound in Georgia. Heck, possibly in the whole world!

I’ve been taking it easy this weekend. Sleeping in, strolling around the dorm for attention and treats. I do a command and they dish out the treats! It doesn’t get much better than this. Tomorrow I get to do the same thing. I’ve got my humans so well trained that while I’m soaking up all the attention from everyone, they will be cleaning my kennel, making my bed and fluffing my pillow.

The big yard is my friend. I love running and playing with my other greyhound buddies. These really are the dog days of summer, so I’m heading back in to enjoy the air conditioning.

Cheyenne: A User's Manual

Hello, this is Cheyenne here, bringing you a progress report from week 6 of my time at the Second Chance Greyhounds Academy. Last week, we talked about one of my favorite subjects - food! This week, we are talking about my other favorite subject which is being petted. So in order from worst first, here we go.

The tail? Not a fan. If it itches, I will bite it myself. The spine: it's sensitive, so go easy on it. The ribs? Don't play them like a xylophone, or do vertical strokes, and we will be all right. The feet and belly are for gentle rubbing, but no scratching. The top of the head and lower jaw? Vigorous scratching is a must. Stroke my ears while scratching my hindquarters and I will shift into a bowl shape and enter a state of bliss that will result in me propping myself right up on your legs. And last of all... The armpits. I know it sounds crazy, but rubbing or lightly scratching my armpits sends me into a total trance!

Well, that's all for now, but remember to take notes, people! This information will be of critical importance to my forever family. Until next time!

Treat Connoisseur

Hi! It’s me again, Cheyenne. You know, the cutest greyhound in the world! As promised, I’m going to fill you in on my favorite treats. I know you’ll want to stock up before I make my appearance at your house and MY new forever home. I can’t wait!

Coming in last place…kibble. Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love kibble, but I already get it twice a day, so that’s why its coming in last. Next on my list…well there’s a tie. I can’t decide if I like marshmallows or popcorn more. These are the only human foods my trainer will give me, so a tie it is. Next is beef liver treats. Firm, but still spongy and these treats melt in your mouth, not in your ha.. er um paws. And finally, drum roll please. At the tippy top of my treat pyramid is…….chicken jerky. Meaty, smoky, it’s a flavor explosion in your mouth! I even recognize the sound of my trainer tearing in into little pieces. When I hear that, it’s game face on. You can get me to do just about anything when the jerky comes out. Oh I almost forgot. Training is coming right along. I know I’ll have my commands mastered by the time I head to your house. See you soon. It won’t be long now. And don’t forget the Chicken!

Long Legs and Longer Strides

Well, this is the start of my fourth week at the Second Chance program, and I'm loving it! There are so many people for me to meet, and I've also made a few four-legged friends. One of the girls in my group is named Sugar and she is the only one that can keep up with me. Well, she can keep up, but she can't pass me! I'm also getting a reputation for my jumping skills. I was running with a group of dogs, and I jumped half the width of the basketball court. I've got skills! That's all for now, maybe next week we can talk about my favorite subject... Treats!

Loving Retirement Life!

Hi everyone, my name is Cheyenne.  I want to tell y’all about my third week here at the training program.  The first two weeks I didn’t understand why I couldn’t run in all that open grass, but I got to run this week!  It was a wonderful feeling. The wind through my hair and running with my pals.

I have lots of fun inside with my inmate trainer too.  I get to eat lots of treats, loads of attention and wonderful naps!  What more could I ask for. See you next week!

Infinite Petting

Week two has been great! Cheyenne is a playful and affectionate gal. Her trainer feels lucky to be able to get her to do the bed command this early on. All she wants to do is run! Her trainer can’t wait to see how fast she is when she gets out on the big yard. Training is going well. She knows “hurry”, “let’s go” and “bed”. Her trainer will keep working and adding more commands each week.

Her trainer enjoys playing with her while she lies on the bed. She lets her primary and secondary trainers lie next to her on her bed to pet and love on her, and when they would get up to leave, she would give them an “oh no you don’t!” look. Cheyenne is a special girl who is ready for infinite petting!

Doing The Happy Dance

Cheyenne’s inmate trainer say’s that he can already tell that he’s going to have a blast this session! He says that when they’re walking and change direction, she likes to do a little happy jump/bounce.

She loves attention and always wants to be petted and loved on.  He says that he’s looking forward to watching her training skills develop and more of her happy personality emerge.
