Forever Home Awaits

It’s time to start saying goodbye to Sugar. It is going to be bittersweet for her trainers, but they are happy to hear she has a forever home to go to. She has passed all her commands and is ready for the next step… Forever home.

Her trainers said Sugar has come out of her shell over the past 10 weeks. She loves to be loved on and she loves treats. There’s not much she won’t do for a tasty snack. She’s a laid back girl and will lay on her bed for hours. Sugar is content just laying on her bed by herself, but definitely doesn’t mind a good belly rub or ear scratches. Her trainer hopes she brings you love and happiness as she has to him. He’s going to miss her!

Swap Week Sweetie!

Swap week with Sweet Sugar was unforgettable! Her alternate trainer said she is such a good dog and they had a great time together. She does wonderfully on all her 13 basic commands. Her feeding routine is “sit, stay, kennel”. She knows what to do and she’s got it down pat.

Sugar enjoys getting love from anyone she sees. Her swap week trainer said he enjoyed every minute with this loving girl. He knows Sugar is going to make her forever family very happy. You will love her to pieces!

A treat? Pour moi?

Sugar has done so well with her commands and she is now playing with toys! She loves playing with toys, and she also loves to run and be loved on. Sugar will do absolutely anything to please you, especially if she can get some food or a treat out of it! She gets along very well with people and with her doggie classmates. She can be picky sometimes, but she just knows what she wants. That’s a girl for you. LOL She is such a wonderful dog to work with and is full of lovely surprises!

Sweet Girl

It's week 7, and things are going great! I can do all of my commands with or without a leash (Only inside). I really enjoyed getting out and showing off just how good I am at this stuff. I also love to get out and socialize, and as much as I love to stay sharp on my commands, I love socializing and getting petted even more. Just a few more weeks and I'm going to meet my forever family and settle into my forever home. I can hardly wait to be the great pet and lifelong friend I've been studying to be the last few months!

Love,

Sugar

Coming Around to Toys

Sugar is doing so well with her commands. She loves food and treats, and she will do anything for them. She loves to be loved on and will do anything to please you. She loves to run, and she is getting along with the other dogs in her class. She also gets along well with all the people she meets. Her trainer loves working with her and can't wait to see what adventures will come along in the next few weeks. She loves to be hugged and brushed and is a very laid-back dog when it comes to playing. She is still getting used to the concept of toys, and her trainer thinks that she will be playing with them very soon!

Petting is Imminent!

Hello guys! This week has been very successful. I'm getting really good at these commands. I’ve mastered down and stay this week. Heel seems to be the only one I’m not totally sure about. The others are a walk in the park. I know them with hand signals too. Pretty cool huh? My trainer says I’m coming along nicely. I’m not sure what that means, but I hope it means closer to coming home to you.

I've mastered down and stay this week and can't wait to hear my scores after our next show and tell. By the way, I really love to be petted! Halfway to graduation (and hopefully a lifetime of petting and cuddles!).

Love,

Sugar

Yummy treats! Keep 'em coming!

Hellllooo Human!

This week has been a blast!  My training is moving right along; but I’m brilliant so it’s no surprise really.  If treats were trophies I’d have a wall full!  I’d rather have the treats though – yummy stuff.

I’m getting faster with my response time… if it were a western movie I’d be the quickest draw in the South!

So my inmate trainer says that I’m helping improve his life. That makes me happy to know I’m helping him out.  He’s teaching me some mad skills so I’m glad he’s getting some benefits too.

I’m looking forward to meeting my furever family and showing them everything I’ve learned.  They’re gonna have to become treat dispensers when they check out my moves!  See you soon!

Stellar Student

Hey guys!

This week I'm learning my feeding routine. My trainer opens the kennel door and tells me to wait. When I make eye contact, he says release. As I slowly come out of the kennel, he says heel. I make a complete turn and end up beside his left left leg facing the kennel. He says good heel - now comes the fun part! As I'm standing there, he moves his hand in an upward motion and says sit. I must be catching on pretty fast because when I sit he starts to get excited. A stay, kennel, and bed, and then I get my afternoon meal. This place is great!

Today we went on the big yard for our first run. Boy, was that fun! I really love being outdoors. Can't wait to get my wind back to show him how fast I really am!

Until next time,

Sugar

Loving Life

Things are moving right along for Sugar at Second Chance Greyhounds Academy.  She has already mastered “bed”, “kennel” and “let’s go”.   “Release”, “sit” and “wait” are coming along nicely.  Routine and repetition are key. Greyhounds are used to a routine and they love it.

Sugar is enjoying retirement life. Hanging out in the dorm with her trainer tops the list. She can’t get enough of her new comfy bed! Her trainer can’t wait to see what this week brings.

Gimme some Sugar!

Dear adoptive family,

On Thursday I got off the hauler and was handed to my new friend. Still thinking I was at the track, I pulled and tugged my way into my new environment. It's not bad at all here! A clean, fresh bed, and a guy who seems very interested in every move that I make. He takes me out to this little grassy area in such a hurry. As soon as I pee, I get a “good hurry” and some kibble. It's great!

My second day here was just spent relaxing, and I've learned a few more commands like kennel and bed. Leash walking comes naturally to me and I'm starting to get wait, bed, and release nailed down. When it was time to go on the dog run, my trainer tried a heel command. Much to his surprise, I did it! He was so surprised that he put his face down close to mine and he rubbed under my chin saying I did a good job. And then I gave him a big kiss! Things are going great so far and I can't wait to see what next week brings!

Sincerely,

Sugar
