Neck Scratches Please

Congratulations!  It’s graduation time! Your new family member will be home with you soon!

Hershey’s inmate trainer says that he’s really enjoyed working with her.  He’s enjoyed watching her personality emerge as she became more comfortable with her surroundings.  Hershey loves to have her neck scratched. He says he loves the calming effect Hershey provides.  She has a way of making you feel content and happy.  Hershey will forever hold a special place in his heart.  He’s happy she’s going to a forever home and believes that you’ll love her as much as he does.

One Smart "Hershey" Bar!

Swap Week has arrived! It’s time for the inmates to exchange hounds to work on commands and see how they do away from their primary training team.   Hershey’s alternate inmate trainer says that Hershey is one smart cookie!  She knows all of her commands and she knows she’s adorable doing them.  She loves to play with toys and is always ready to do something.

Hershey is a loveable girl who enjoys hanging out on her bed and day dreaming about treats.  Her alternate inmate trainer says that he’s had a lot of fun with her this week and believes that Hershey is going to make a great pet for her new family!

Sweet Lil Toy Commander

Welcome back! We are glad to see you decided to check in on Hershey again. She wanted her trainer to tell you that she is doing very well and she is looking forward to meeting her new family. Most of these blogs are about how great of a greyhound she is and how she will make it perfect addition to a family, but honestly, it's true. Hershey is sweet, loving and smart. She loves playing with toys and having her trainers throw them so that she can chase after them. One of her favorites is a large pink ball which she somehow manages to carry around in her mouth. It's always fun watching her trot around with it in her mouth like she is proud of herself for being able to carry around something the size of a basketball.

Another great thing about her is how well she leash walks. She does a great job of staying by her trainer’s side whenever they are walking, no matter what is going on around her. If you enjoy being outdoors, running, playing sports, or other activities, Hershey will be an amazing companion for you. If that doesn't sound like you, give it a few days and we bet she will have you out running with her in the yard or the park. There's nothing like seeing a greyhound happily running that just makes you wanna join in on the fun. Thank you again for coming back and checking on Hershey. She and her trainer both, wish you a great rest of the week!

Retirement Is So Much Fun!

It’s been a great week!  Hershey completed all of her commands!  Her inmate trainer says that he’s so very proud of her!  She also learned that chasing a ball is great fun!  She seems to be thrilled at this new skill.  Who knew retirement could be so fun!

Her inmate trainer says that he’s really enjoying teaching Hershey how to play and learn commands.  He hopes that her new forever family will enjoy her as much as he has!

Sweetest Girl You Will Ever Meet

Her inmate trainer says that Hershey is calm and enjoys playing with all her heart.  She loves to run and chase after toys.

Sweet Treat = Hershey

Well, we’ve made it half way and Hershey is doing great! This week her trainer worked with her on sit and down. These seem to be a little challenging, but she’s getting the hang of them. Hershey is a good listener and oh so lovable. You are going to adore her.

Hershey’s trainer says he loves it when she gets a burst of energy and takes off. She will run, do a circle and run back. He says it’s the cutest thing ever.

Morning Glory

Dear adoptive parents,

It has been four weeks since Hershey came to Jenkins and her trainer feels like she has always been here. She is so very smart and learns quickly. She is a master of hurry, let’s go, kennel and release. The others are soon to follow.

During this hard time, it is great to have an animal by his side who is always happy. When he wakes up feeling down or when he gets bad news from home, or even when he watches the news on TV, he can always look at Hershey and be greeted with love. People think that they are there to train the dogs, but in doing so, they are given the greatest reward they could ever receive in prison - unconditional love. Not to mention unbreakable loyalty! This trainer says thank you for allowing him and all his fellow trainers to spend time with these wonderful hounds.

Wonderful Personality

Week 3 has come and gone!  Hershey’s inmate trainer says that she’s learning at lightening speed.  Her inmate trainer says that he can’t help but smile whenever he’s around her.

When he tells her “bed” she goes to the bed, sits down, and puts her paw on his hand.  He says that she  has a beautiful personality.  He loves working with her and is looking forward to the days ahead!

Who Doesn't Love Hershey Kisses

Dear future forever family and Hershey fans, Thank you for tuning in this week for your Hershey update! After spending another week working with Hershey, her trainer still maintains that she is the sweetest puppy he has ever had. He loves spending time with her and training her. She has a laser beam stare that will lock and hold you in place! Hershey has a beautiful brindle coat and a wonderful personality; she is so smart, which makes her trainer's job easy. Sometimes he wonders if he's teaching her or she's teaching him. When he gives her a little kiss on the head, he always calls it a Hershey's Kiss. Then he follows it up by giving her a marshmallow and she becomes a s'more! :) All in all, this week was wonderful for both the student and the teacher. Check back next week for more on Miss Hershey!

Sweet As Candy!

Just wanted to tell you a little about this wonderful greyhound “Fun Size” now called Hershey.  We can start by telling you how small she is.  Her race name says it all.  Not only is she small (fun size), but she’s as sweet as Hershey candy!

Hershey is always focused and when she’s in her kennel she is in the perfect down position with her little paws crossed.  She is adjusting well to her new surroundings and absolutely loves people.  Her trainer said she is very smart and feels she will catch on to her commands quickly. See you next week!
