Pure Joy

This last week with Otto has been a true blessing. It's had its challenging moments though, since this sweet boy is leaving. Get ready to be an even happier family, because Otto is full of pure happiness. When you're feeling down, just use the up command. Otto will remind you that everything is going to be okay by putting his paws on you and giving you a kiss. Otto loves putting a smile on every face that he can. I hope you have the best time with this gifted boy, and you are a very blessed family for welcoming him!

Swap Week!

Swap week time!  This is the week where the dogs go to different handlers to test their response to commands from new people.   Otto’s temporary inmate trainer said that Otto is a lot of fun to be around!  He said that Otto is very friendly, obedient and loves to play.

During his time with his temporary trainer Otto was a little unsure about the change but warmed up fairly quickly.  He did really well with his commands and his temporary inmate trainer says that he feels sure that Otto will do great in his new home!  A few treats along with praise for a job well done will have Otto warming up in no time!

A True Gem

It was an awesome week with an awesome greyhound Otto.  He is such a happy boy and will be leaving for his forever home soon.  His trainer said Otto is the best dog ever and has taught him the true meaning of love and happiness.  It's never a bad day with Otto around.

One of Otto's favorite commands is the "up" command.  He is always ready to give you a big greyhound hug and make you feel special.  To sum it up, Otto is a sweet boy.  A true gem.  His trainer will truly miss him.  Enjoy life in your forever home Otto!

Star Student, Handsome Hound

It's been an exciting New Year with Otto. Of course, when is it not exciting with this happy boy? He got to stay up really late to watch the ball drop and he even ate a special Kong filled with a medley of peanut butter and treats. He seems to have an iron stomach as there are no signs of a doggie hangover. Otto's New Year's resolution is to have as much fun as possible!

Two points of interest for Otto during training this week have been jump and give. He has no problem jumping, as we've previously seen with his doggy hug maneuver, but he now knows to jump on command. Maybe you need to make an impromptu trip to the store, a quick 'jump' into the back of the car and Otto would be more than happy to tag along. As far as give, it's just as important that he knows how to give a toy back as well as he knows how to play with it. A simple give command and Otto lets go so you can have your turn. In the end, it's been great to share the holidays with Otto and sadly but also fortunately, January 25th is just around the corner and his new family is surely excited for that day to arrive!

Happy-Go-Lucky

Otto loves squeaky toys and gets very excited when it's time to play. He also enjoys having his belly rubbed. When it's time for exercise, he enjoys running with the other dogs in his class. He has become very good at the sit, stay, and down commands. He is getting better and better at wait and leave it. Otto has really motivated his trainer in his own life, because Auto is such happy-go-lucky dog with a winning personality. He's a happy dog and he has shared that happiness with everybody around him. Having Otto has been such a blessing and an honor - and soon it'll be your blessing!s  It won't be long now...

Heart Stealing Greyhound

Another week has come and gone with Otto and his trainer has enjoyed every minute with him.  His trainer said if he could pick any dog to spend the holidays with, it would be Otto.  He loves attention so much that he tends to hop up and place his paws on your shoulders, as if he's trying to give you a hug.  So any time you're feeling sad or just need a hug, call on Otto.  He's always ready to give you a big greyhound hug!  Be prepared to have your heart stolen the minute you meet this hunk of burning love, Otto!

Toys! Toys! Toys!

Otto’s inmate trainer says that every minute with Otto is an exciting experience!  He says that Otto is the happiest and most playful dog he’s ever met!  He believes that Otto’s playful happy nature is why he has made so many friends.

So, you’re wondering if Otto likes toys?  Well… he loves squeaky toys, Kong toys, Nyla Bone toys, fluffy toys… well, his trainer has yet to find a toy that Otto doesn’t love!  His inmate trainer says that when he’s having a bad day he simply gets Otto and his troubles are gone.  He says that as soon as Otto comes out of his kennel he’s geared up and ready to try and conquer something new.  They’ve introduced stairs into the lessons this week and Otto climbs them like he’s been doing them his whole life!  Otto is very attentive during training and teaching him has been a pleasure.

This Guy is the Total Package!

Otto's trainer is exceedingly happy with the progress he has made so far in this session. As a repeat trainer, it's always a relief to be assigned a dog who is treat and toy motivated, a dog that loves affection, a dog who's very smart, or a dog that loves to learn. Well, our friend Otto is all of the above and his trainer is so thankful he is here. His happy personality rubs off on anyone around. This week they made progress working with how he plays with toys. Otto tends to want to jump up to get a toy from wherever it is but it's certainly more polite for him to sit and wait quietly for it. He will be a pro with it soon enough. This boy loves to learn and he is so smart!

Greyhound Hugs for All!

Two weeks in and Otto seems as though he has been here for the whole session. He's already so comfortable with the new environment and is quickly making friends of the fellow trainers. This happy-go-lucky pup can make the best out of any situation. Otto has proven his ability to learn quickly and has mastered leash walking, wait, let's go, and is even sitting most of the time. He has also learned an extra command already. A quick tap of the chest and Otto gently hops up with his front paws on your chest, almost as if he is trying to give hugs. His trainer is enjoying the opportunity to train Otto and looks forward to the weeks to come.

Sweet Life

Hello Otto friends.  I think I'm going to like it here!  This thing called retirement is pretty sweet.  I get plenty of time to relax, delicious treats, and petting from anyone that just walks up to me.  What's not to love?  I even get a treat when my trainer says "Otto" and I look at him.

I'm told that I am incredibly friendly and outgoing.  My looks aren't so bad either.  Did I tell you I have the cutest tail?  Check it out on my picture.  I'm more handsome in person, but they tell me I can't have visitors, so  you'll just have to wait to meet me in person.  Oh, I can't wait!  Until then, I think I'll hang with my trainer and enjoy the ride.  I'm going to have so much fun!!!  Until next week...
