Wonderful Personality

This past week was Swap Week!  What’s Swap Week you ask?  It’s the time in the training program where the inmates swap hounds.  Let me guess, you’re wondering why in the world we’d do that! Well, the idea is that the hounds get to spend some time away from their primary training team to see how they do with a new trainer.  It’s a test to see how they respond to command requests from someone new and to see how they adjust being away from their primary training team.  It’s all part of the plan to make adjusting to home life a little bit easier for them and you!

Arlo’s alternate inmate trainer says that he was drawn to Arlo right away.  He says that Arlo is gentle on the leash and has a wonderful personality.  Arlo had no problems being away from his primary training team and knows his commands like the back of his paw.  One more step to meeting you!

Testing out the Joy of Toys

Hello guys! Week 8 and Arlo is coming right along. He's really a smart dog, but he does things on his own time. He goes through the commands really well and with more energy lately. His trainer has noticed that he wants to play with the toys a lot longer than he has previously, and his personality is starting to come to the surface. He'll make a great friend to everyone in his forever home!

Your Next Best Friend

Hello again and welcome to your weekly update on a greyt greyhound. Arlo is so cool and calm. He walks great on a leash and knows all his commands with verbal cues and most with hand signals too. He’s a very smart and his trainer couldn’t ask for a better boy. His trainer has found no aggressive behaviors with Arlo. He can even put his hand in his food bowl and Arlo will calmly eat around his hand. He’s great with toys and enjoys lots of petting.

Arlo’s trainer is working on getting him ready for his forever home. He is going to make a great pet and the best friend you can ask for.

Smart Boy

Arlo’s coming right along with his commands. He knows all his basic commands with verbal cues and most of them with hand signals too. He can be slow to respond, but he does know them.

If you want to win over Arlo, rub him under his chin. He will be in total bliss. He’s a great dog and his trainer hopes his forever family will enjoy him as much as he does. Only four more weeks and Arlo’s yours!

Arlo, Master of Calm

Hello future forever family! Arlo’s primary trainer has another update on this great hound named Arlo. This hunk did his first sit today, which was very exciting! He did it with no problems. He has also gotten better at playing with toys. Arlo is so smart and walks great on a leash and off a leash. He keeps getting better every day!

This week he had his ears cleaned and handled it like a champ. Arlo is very calm, and he does not show signs of aggression at anything. He and his trainer have gotten to know and trust each other over the last five week - Arlo is such a great dog! They are working on all of the commands and fine tuning the ones that are close to mastering, and the only one left is ‘down.’ His primary trainer thinks that he will knock that out next week and can’t wait to update you on how that goes. Until next time!

Arlo Likes To Chill

Arlo has been doing greyt!  He has picked up his commands like a champ.  They’re still working on “sit,” but he doing a good job with all other commands.  Go Arlo!

Arlo’s inmate trainer says that Arlo is a calm guy who likes to chill out and embrace retirement.  He’s not too sure about toys yet. He thinks they’re a little weird.  He does great with having his teeth brushed and he’s fabulous walking on a leash! Lounging on beds is his favorite!

Pick Me!

Hello once again from Arlo’s primary trainer and I’m hear to say that Arlo has been doing great this week. He is surprising his trainer at how fast he does pick up things. His trainer has been working on “stay” during feeding time and he’s showing real improvement. Arlo’s leash walking is very good .His trainer is so proud of him.

Arlo is starting to figure out what those squeaky things are. Last week he wasn’t sure what to think. Now he plays with them and has a good ole’ time. Arlo is a very calm and lovable guy, that’s sure to win you over.

Super Genius

Hello future forever family! Arlo's primary trainer has the latest and greatest in his new report on Mr. Arlo. He has been doing so well and got leash-walking down pat already. He can even heel on command! He has really surprised his trainer over the past week, picking up on everything with lightning speed. He is retaining everything he learns, soaking up the knowledge like a sponge. Arlo is very smart, and his only weak/slow spot is that he doesn't really understand toys. He's never played with them before so his trainer will continue to work on these things so that he can get better and better! They will also keep playing with toys and getting to know each other throughout the session. Arlo seems to like the squeak toy at least; he picked it up and tried to play with it. He is coming out of his shell and trying everything out; check next week to see how he's progressing! Who knows, this prodigy might be doing calculus by then!

Arlo the Hunk

Hello, future family of a great greyhound! Arlo's primary trainer absolute loves this guy. He is very calm and chill, and he did so well getting his first bath. He is all black with a white chest, and so dashing! His trainer has been hand-feeding him for the first couple of days to get him used to being around his trainer and to help establish a bond. He's doing great and settling in nicely. They have started working on leash-walking and some kennel training. His trainer is looking forward to seeing how well he learns, and he is learning so quickly already! Arlo is a handsome and smart hound who is sure to make a wonderful pet once he graduates from here. Until next time!
