Swap Week Snack Scammin'

Well, it's week 9 and we are all so close to going home! Hi, this is Carlie, and I'm writing to tell you about my amazing week. First off, this week is called swap week by my humans. Basically, we trade our teams of people out with other teams. This helps them determine if we are going to suffer from separation anxiety, and it shows whether or not we will do our commands for strangers. Well, my swap week human was most definitely not a stranger, he was on my original team for 3 weeks. Not only do I know him, but I also know that he is a sucker for my soulful brown eyes! I’ve been getting scratched, petted, stroke, and loved on for seven straight days. I've also gained a pound from the popcorn, peanut butter, kibble, marshmallows, and dog treats that I've been eating. It hasn't all been lazy days though, I've also been playing with a new set of toys and running every morning out in the big yard. It’s been a fun, fun week!

Well that's about it for my week, thanks for reading - hope you have some snacks ready for me!

Love,

Carlie

Charming Carlie!

Who is the most loving and affectionate greyhound around? You guessed it! Carlie!!! She loves attention and that’s all she requires for motivation. Her trainer can get her to do just about anything without a single treat. Don’t get me wrong. She loves treats as much as any dog, but it’s not a requirement.

Carlie’s trainer will lay on her bed with her, rubbing her belly. This is one of her favorite things. She has learned to “kiss” and "shake”, so she uses both to turn on the charm. it works too, because the whole dorm is enamored with Carlie. They line up to show her love anytime she’s out to play.

Love Galore!

Carlie has been doing so well. She listens very well and loves to go outside to run. When she's out in the big yard, this girl is fast! She's learned all of her commands and does well during stair training. She also REALLY loves to be petted and rubbed, so keep those in mind as possible rewards for teaching her new things. Carlie is such a loving dog and makes her trainer’s day, every single day. He loves being part of her team and knows that she will be an amazing pet!

Counting Down The Days Until Graduation

It’s week 6 in training and Carlie knows all of her commands forwards and backwards. Carlie gets excited when it’s time to go outside. She loves to go outside to run and feel the wind in her face. She’s very graceful and so much fun to watch her take off and run.

Carlie’s trainer said she is a very loving greyhound and keeps him entertained. He can’t help but laugh at her when she gives him these looks. The expressions in her eyes are priceless. If he only knew what she was thinking…. well, maybe not. LOL Carlie is one smart pup and will make someone a wonderful pet.

Is it time to meet my forever family yet?!

Hey everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't written before today, but it has been super crazy around here. The last month or so has been a whirlwind. I finished a long ride with my other friends to be greeted by a bunch of humans! They were very sweet to me and they bathed me, groomed me, and then gave me a new bed. The next day, I got more pampering, I got my teeth brushed, and even my coat brushed and my nails clipped.

Anyway, a lot has happened so far. I've been busy and I have learned so much. I can walk on a leash, play with toys nicely, all kinds of things! Jump, sit, down, heel, wait, here, all that jazz. And when I do these things, the guys here gets so excited! They pet me and feed me treats. Tasty treats like peanut butter, marshmallows and chicken jerky. Yum!

It is so exciting and fun here, and I can't wait to impress my new forever family. That will be so awesome. I get to go to a new home! A forever home! I can hardly wait!

One Smart Cookie

This week was a week of change for Carlie. Her training team changed up a bit and sweet Carlie took it all in stride.

Her inmate trainer says that Carlie is becoming more playful and seems to be coming out of her shell. He says that she’s one smart cookie who learns very quickly.  She loves attention.  Her inmate trainer says that he’s never met a dog so loving and sweet.  She actually prefers love and attention over treats! She enjoys laying next to her trainer while he pets her.

Her trainer say that Carlie is really blossoming and he can’t wait to see what the future holds for her!

Love All Day!

Carlie continues to win over hearts all around Jenkins. She is such a sweet and loving girl and still has some of that youthful puppy enthusiasm. She is usually a very calm dog, but occasionally she will have spurts of energy. It is so cute to watch! She can be very playful and enjoys running around with toys. By far, her favorite activity is having the trainers pet her. She just basks in the love and attention. Carlie is such a joy to train and she's just so smart and intuitive, catching on quickly to everything. She is going to make a truly amazing addition to someone's family!

Affectionate Girl

Carlie has adjusted very well to her new surroundings.  She has really opened up to her trainer as her comfort level increases.  Carlie is a very sweet and affectionate girl.  Her trainer feels he could train her with affection and praise exclusively.  She also loves treats, but nothing compares to a simple ear scratch and an “atta” girl!”

Carlie is a very intuitive dog. She quickly understands what her trainer wants and acts accordingly. So far training her as been easy peasy with this girl. Her trainer looks forward to each day with Carlie and knows she will ace her basic commands in no time.

Greyhound Gold

Once again, greyhound gold has been struck! Carlie is going to be fun to train for sure. She's very sweet and loving, and although she's a little bit timid, her trainer’s sure that she will break out of that shyness as she gets more comfortable at Jenkins. She loves being around other dogs and is very eager to meet them. She also doesn't know what a stranger is! She is sure to make lots of new friends while she's here, and many more when she leaves. Carlie is very smart, quickly catching on to all of her commands. Her trainer does not foresee any issues with the training. She's very calm and has adjusted very well with no anxiety or stress. She loves food and affection, so motivation won't be an issue for her. She will definitely allow you to love on her for as long as you want! Carlie is going to be such a joy to train and her trainer is so looking forward to it.
