Hello Forever Family

It’s the last week with Otis.  His inmate trainer says that he’s truly enjoyed his time with Otis.  Watching Otis come out of his shell was a truly remarkable.  He’s leaving training armed with a whole list of extra commands such as: leave it, give it, paws up, spin, bow, kiss, and shake!  His new family will find that he’s one smart boy!  He is a strikingly handsome boy who is sure to make a statement wherever he goes.

Otis’s inmate trainer says it’s never easy saying Goodbye when it’s time for graduation.  Knowing that Otis is going to have a happy retirement in his new forever home makes it a little easier to let go.

Big Playful Guy

Here we are, the week before graduation already.  Otis’s inmate trainer says it’s hard to believe this training session has gone by so quickly.  He says that he’s had a really good time with Otis and that Otis has taught him a lot through this journey.  Otis has really opened up in the last few weeks and has become quite playful and goofy.

Otis performs his commands with perfection!  His inmate trainer says that not only is Otis the most handsome dog in the program he’s also the smartest.  He says that he is truly going to miss Otis, but plans to enjoy the days ahead with this big guy.

Bright Future

Otis has been coming out of shell these last few weeks.  He’s really warmed up and seems to be letting his guard down.  He’s been going up to people and requesting loves and attention.  His inmate trainer says he’s so proud of Otis!  Not only is he the smartest dog around he’s also made wonderful progress and seeing this change in him is what makes this program so wonderful!

Otis continues to do really well with all of his commands.  He has a firm paw on his new commands “spin” and “paws up”.  He knows most all of his commands with both verbal and hand signal commands.  With graduation coming quickly his inmate trainer says that he couldn’t be happier for Otis.  The future is bright with a new family and days filled with relaxation.

"Spin" Like A Top

Otis’s inmate trainer says that so far this has been the most and interesting week with Otis.  He says that he feels like he and Otis have bonded more this past week than they have in the previous six weeks.  Otis has finally started playing with toys!  He has started bouncing around and playing chase with his trainer in the training room.  His inmate trainer says that Otis has the cutest little looks that remind him of a polar bear.

This week they’ve been working on some extras.  Spin is one of the new commands and his inmate trainer says that Otis is so big he has to take a step back after giving the command so Otis has room!  He’s even taken to approaching people for attention!  His inmate trainer is very proud of the progress he’s seen this week.

Heartthrob

Otis is not only a looker but he’s also very mindful with his commands.  His inmate trainer says that Otis presents a better performance than even he can do!   During Show & Tell he always gets 10s across the board.  He can get distracted at times but he focuses back in and follows through without a problem.

Otis’s inmate trainer says that Otis is truly adorable.  He has the cutest gestures and your heart will never be the same after spending time with this tall guy.

Good Looks And Smart To Boot!

Otis seems to be getting use to receiving a lot of attention for his looks.  He’s pretty humble though and doesn’t let it go to his head.

Otis’ inmate trainer says that Otis knew all of his command by week three and continues to excel.  He said that he can tell Otis to “stay” and walk all around the training room and even out of sight and Otis is right where he left him!  When released Otis will happily  bound his way over to you.  His inmate trainer says that Otis is a great dog who has been fun to train.

Handsome Dude!

Another great week for Otis!  His inmate trainer says that he can’t believe it’s only a month into the training session.  Otis has learned so much in such a short amount of time that it’s hard not to be impressed.  Jump is the newest command they have started working on and as you may have guessed Otis already has a good handle on it!  His inmate trainer says that Otis has the best response to “stay” and “here” commands he’s ever seen.  As soon as Otis has “jump” down pat his inmate trainer plans to start working on more extra commands for fun.

More stair training took place this week and Otis went up and down like a champ.  He enjoys having his teeth brushed, well it’s probably the flavor of the doggie toothpaste but he likes it and that’s what counts!  Check back on Otis next week and see what he’s discovered!

A Gentleman and a Scholar

Another week with Otis has come and gone. Miss Patti came down this weekend to see the dogs and check on their progress, and Otis' trainer is proud to say that Otis did really well! He got to eat some cupcakes and run on the big yard with the other dogs. After all that was said and done, he slept the rest of the day away. Living the dream!

Otis has proved to be very smart and a quick learner. He was the only dog in the class to perform all of his commands and score perfect 10's across the board during his first show and tell! So far, some of his trainer's favorite things about Otis are his amazing leash walking manners, his beautiful color scheme, and his fluffy coat. Otis feels like a big ole teddy bear.

His trainer has also come to realize that Otis really likes marshmallows and just about any other treat you could give him. His trainer looks forward to the next 7 weeks with this big sweet hunk and see what else he's got up his paws! Well, until next week, Otis out! Check back to see what new stuff he learns next week!

Main Attraction

Otis’s inmate trainer says that the last two weeks with Otis have been nothing but fun!  He says that Otis is the biggest dog this session and the most handsome.  His inmate trainer says that despite his size Otis is just a big ole teddy bear who loves to be loved on.  He’s become quite the attraction turning heads with all his handsomeness.

Otis is working hard on his commands and is doing really well.  And get this, He loves having his teeth brushed.  He will lay his head against your leg and close his eyes, just hanging out until you’re finished!  He even went to sleep on his trainer while his nails were being clipped!  Pardon me, I’m in retirement… perhaps we discuss breakfast in bed?

He’s being trained with other dogs nearby working on bed sharing, playing with toys, and Otis is doing really well!  His inmate trainer is very proud of his progress so far and can’t wait to see what he learns next!

Helloooo.... It's Me! Otis

Hey y’all!  Otis here!  Do you ever get the feeling that people are just telling you what you want to hear instead of the truth?  Well, I’m starting to think that’s what has happened to me.  It started when they said I could retire.  I thought to myself, WOW, I can spend the rest of my days on a river float, do a little swimming, dig a few holes, eat whatever I want and sleep all day!  To my surprise I’ve arrived at this very strange place called a prison.  I’ve met this man who calls himself my inmate trainer and says I’ll be hanging out with him for the next 10 weeks.

So, we began our walk back to the buildings and this dude only allows me to potty in certain areas… then when I see a perfectly good piece of food on the ground and go for it he tells me no!  I really think this human is the one that needs the training, not me!  I mean who leaves a perfectly good bite of food on the ground?  So, after I put up with this ridiculous behavior I then got a bath!  Well not only did I get a bath, my nails were clipped and my ears were cleaned.  Now, I have to admit it was kind of nice and I feel much better now.

Oh and can you believe the nerve of this trainer guy…. I got to eat, but he had me eat out of his hand.  Hey dude, I’m not some little puppy I can eat out of a bowl.

So on to the second day… After breakfast my inmate trainer brushed me from head to tail, brushed my teeth and gave me neck rubs.  Then he says the command words to me and if I follow through I get yummy treats!  Now we’re talkin!  I’ve overheard him telling a few other humans that I’m a handsome gentle giant.  I have to say if he keeps all this up I’ll cut him a little slack and do this 10 week treat… uh training gig.  I am still expecting a full retirement to head my way soon… dog beds, treats, naps…
