A New Life is Dawning

Well, it’s the final week of training.  Ivy has come a long way in the past 10 weeks.  She arrived barley knowing her name to leaving with the ability to perform 11 of her basic commands and 14 extras perfectly!  Her jump command still needs some work, but it has greatly improved from her first week!

Her inmate trainer says that he cannot begin to describe the way Ivy has improved his life. She always brings a smile to his face, even when she’s being stubborn she’s funny.  She loves attention and really believes that everybody loves her!  She doesn’t know a stranger, she’s sweet and gentle, and simply amazing.  He believes that she is going to be great around kids, especially if she’s the center of attention.  He says that he’s so proud of her and all of her accomplishments. He’s going to truly miss this amazing girl!

Graduation is On the Horizon

Ivy jumped!! Her inmate trainer says that she’s still not really sure about it, but she did it!  He believes that with a little more work she’ll have it down pat!  She has also begun learning “kiss” and “show me love.”  She is happy to try and learn most things as long as she is getting some attention!  Her inmate trainer says that she can be a clown when she gets going!

It’s hard to believe that it has been nine weeks since Ivy first came to training.  Her inmate trainer says that his time with her has been truly enjoyable and that the days have passed by too quickly.

Counting Down The Days

This week was swap week so Ivy got to spend time with an alternate inmate trainer.  Her temporary trainer says that he knew that Ivy was a sweet, playful, and smart girl due to his interactions with her in the dorm prior to this week.  He says that this week has been a real treat! Ivy not only knows her commands extremely well but she loves attention and for people to play with her.  She will pick up a toy and carry it to different people wanting them to throw it for her.

Her temporary trainer says that this week getting to know Ivy has been great.  She didn’t have any problems being away from her primary inmate trainer.  Her easy going personality is sure to win her new family over in no time!

Sweet and Gentle

Ivy is a wonderful girl!  She has yet to meet a stranger and has a sweet and gentle nature.  She can get excited at times and loves to run and play.  She knows all of her commands except “jump”.  She is beginning to jump on objects about a 1 ½ ft high.  She knows several extra commands:  bounce, bow, paws up, spin, back, shake, and whisper!  She gets excited and stomps her feet every time she performs “whisper”.  Her inmate trainer plans to work on “show me love” and “visit” this week.  He says that Ivy can be a little unsure of herself when she tries something new but with your confidence and patience she will do anything requested of her.  He says that more she gets to practice the more she shines!

Princess Ivy

Ivy is improving everyday!  Her inmate trainer has been working with her on the “stay” command from different positions and she is learning to stay for longer periods of time each day!

They also worked on going up and down stairs again this week and Ivy had a perfect run!  This smart girl has all of her basics down pat!  That means she’s performing hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, wait, heel, here, sit, down, stay, and bed very well!  They’re working on her jump command, but her inmate trainer believes that she’ll have this figured out soon enough!  She’s even been working on several extra commands - paws up, bow, spin, bounce, whisper, shake, and back!

Her social skills are great!  She is kinda like a princess thinking that everyone should stop and give her a bit of petting.  Everyone adores her!

Undeniably Adorable

Ivy is learning by leaps and bounds!  Although she is still reluctant to respond to the jump command she is improving.  Her inmate trainer says that they are making progress every day!

They started working on stairs this week.  Ivy was reluctant at first, but towards the end she was gaining confidence and going up and down with much improvement.  This week Ivy also learned several extra commands including paws up, bounce, spin, bow, back, and whisper!  Her inmate trainer is very confident in Ivy’s abilities and her extremely friendly and loving personality makes her undeniably adorable!

Fine Tuning

Ivy has come so far in the last four weeks.  She has mastered all her basic commands, well, except for jump.  They continue to work on that one!

She has also decided that when they go outside for potty breaks that it's time to play!  After she "hurries" she wants to play tag!  Ivy does have those bursts of energy like all Greyhounds.  She'll play as long as you will play with her!

They continue to work with Ivy.  She'll be well trained and ready to meet her new family on graduation day!

Progress is Made!

Ivy has come a long way during the last three weeks.  She has learned most of her commands and with a little more time she'll be performing them perfectly.  Ivy has been a bit reluctant to jump but her inmate trainer has faith that she will get the hang of it soon enough..

Every once in a while she will slip on the shiny tile floors but she recovers quickly and is ready to continue on!  She's a trooper!

Ivy is such a loving Greyhound.  She will constantly try to get your attention for scratches (especially around her neck) and full body rub downs.  She'll steal your heart!

What a Loving Girl!

Ivy has made some significant improvements over the past week!  She has gotten much better with here, wait, kennel, heel, and hurry!  In addition to these commands she has also learned the sit, down, and bed commands!

Her inmate trainer says that Ivy will work for a few minutes then she’s ready for a play break.  Ivy loves everyone and has yet to meet a stranger.  She will go up to anyone with her tail wagging and expecting that everyone should love her and want to pet her.

Her inmate trainer says that even in the short amount of time he’s had around Ivy he believes that she’d be good with kids as long as she can play and get lots of attention.

It's Training Time

Ivy has been at the prison for four days now getting ready to start training for her new life as a retired couch potato.  Her inmate trainer says that Ivy is very affectionate with lots of energy.  At first she wasn’t too sure about this new environment or her inmate trainer, but after 15 minutes she was leaning on and nudging his hand for attention.  He says that she loves neck and ear rubs.

Her inmate trainer says that Ivy seems like a very smart girl.  In the last few days she’s gone from not knowing any commands to understanding her name, “here,” “wait,” “kennel,” and “hurry”!  He says that he has no doubt that she will perfect these commands and learn the rest of her basic commands in no time!
