Time for a New Life and Family

It’s hard to believe, but the last week of training has arrived.  Her inmate trainer says that he feels blue thinking of Rory leaving, but is happy that she’s getting a second chance at happiness.  He’s thrilled to hear that she’s been adopted and has a forever home!

Her inmate trainer says that he is thankful for his time with Rory.  Rory is a fast learner and will be happy to learn new tricks for her new family.  He knows that wherever she goes she’s going to be the light of their lives as she will always be his.  Rory is a sweet and affectionate girl.  She can be a little shy and is a not big fan of slippery surfaces.  Her inmate trainer says that Rory is the best Greyhound that he’s had the pleasure of training and he’s truly going to miss her.

Enjoy her!

Happy Girl

Rory can do all of her basic commands very well!  Her “stay” has improved over the last week and while she’s still reluctant to jump she will follow through.  Her inmate trainer believes that shiny surfaces are what causes her to hesitate on the jump command.  She does well with stairs, but does need more follow up work to help build her confidence.

Her inmate trainer says that he’s so happy with Rory’s progress the girl who arrived shy and unsure is now a confident happy girl.  He says that she’s a smart beautiful girl who loves to run and play.  He believes that she’s going to make some lucky family very happy!

Friendly and Outgoing

Time for swap week!  Rory spent time with an alternate inmate trainer this week! He says that she is a calm girl who likes to play and loves treats.  When it came time to work she did great showing that she knows all of her commands.  She enjoys being around the other dogs, especially the big boys, and loves to run with the pack.  She settles into her kennel with no problems and enjoys chewing on her wish bone.  She doesn’t mind being around the staff or the other inmates and is always up for some attention.  She is friendly and outgoing and didn’t have any problems being away from her primary inmate trainer.

Making Smiles Happen

The weeks are flying by for Rory and her inmate trainer.  Rory is acting her age now and is no longer shy!  Her inmate trainer is so proud of this sweet girl!  She’s doing great with all of her basic commands!  She’s a little slow responding to jump, heel, and here but she continues to make progress!  Her inmate trainer believes that Rory’s reluctance to jump may be due to the slick surfaces of the benches.  She’s not a big fan of shiny floors so that may be the connection.

They’re continuing to perfect all her commands and her inmate trainer believes that this smart girl will have it all figured out soon!  She’s come such a long way since arriving at the prison and she puts a smile on her inmate trainer’s face every day!

One Delightful Girl

Rory is showing a lot of happiness these days!  Her tail is up and wagging with happiness.  She is doing great with the down command and her inmate trainer has been working on a few extras as well!  Rory can be a bit stubborn at times, but this is a Greyhound trait so nothing new for this trainer.  If she refuses to comply to a command her trainer just moves on to another trying to make it exciting and fun.

Rory is not a fan of the sit command, but it is one of the hardest commands for Greyhounds due to all those muscles! No worries though she'll get the hang of it in no time!  Her inmate trainer is proud to report that she hasn’t shown any aggression and has started to play a lot more.

Rory is a smart girl and picks up on commands very quickly.  Her inmate trainer is enjoying his time with this delightful girl!  He believes that she is going to make a great addition to some lucky family out there!

Getting Excited

Rory has shown improvement this week!  Rory’s sit is getting better but she’s not sitting on command yet.  She’s not a fan of the slippery shiny floors and was reluctant to climb the stairs. She knows let’s go, kennel, release, and wait really well.  She’s a little slow responding to heel, here, sit, down, stay, and bed but her inmate trainer believes that she’ll have these figured out soon.  He says that her shyness is getting better and she’s starting to come around and show her playful side.  She gets really excited during the first morning turn out.

Her inmate trainer says that Rory is a very sweet girl and that all of the trainers are having a great time working with her!

Time Flies

It's week four already?  Sometimes it feels as if time runs faster than our Greyhounds!  Seriously though, everyone in the dorm is enjoying having Rory around.  She is starting to get more settled in and isn't nearly as shy as she was when she arrived.

She still isn't too interested in toys but her ears are starting to perk up when she hears a squeaky toy.  They continue to work on her "sit" which she continues to refuse to perform.  They will forge ahead though - she will "get it" soon enough.

She shows no aggression toward anyone and is friendly but a bit shy still to strangers.  She also does well with other Greyhounds, loving all her "friends" in the dorm.

She's a very happy girl.  Team Rory continues to work with her, confident she'll be ready for graduation in December!

Training Progress

Rory is still working to acclimate to her new environment.  She is still very shy but her inmate trainer knows she will soon feel comfortable and will come out of her shell.

They've been working on "sit", "down", "stay", "heel", and "bed".  Rory does very well leash walking and with the "let's go" command.  They have conquered the "wait" command and also "release'.

More next week!

Such a Sweet Girl!

Rory is a beautiful girl who receives a lot of love from her inmate trainers!  She is shy and taking her time adjusting to the new environment.  She loves to eat and is showing signs of playfulness with the other Greyhounds.  Her inmate trainer has started working on basic commands and soon Rory will be able to sit, down and much more!  She shows very little interest in toys, but every time a squeaky toy goes off her ears perk up so her trainer is hoping that she’ll start playing with them soon.

Rory continues to acclimate to her new environment including getting used to the amount of people in the dorm.  That, and the shiny floors, continue to challenge her but every day it gets easier and easier for her.  She especially does better when another Greyhound is with her. Its all about confidence and peer support, right?!

Rory’s inmate trainer is looking forward to the upcoming week and says that he’s having a lot of fun playing with this sweet girl!

Welcome To Training

Rory has entered the prison training program!  She is a little shy, but has adjusted well to her new environment and diet. Her tummy has been a little upset, but this should pass soon.  She’s really good about letting her inmate trainer know she’s got to go use the potty.

She and her inmate trainer have already started working on “hurry,” “let’s go,” “kennel,” and “wait.”  She’s still figuring it all out so she’s a little slow responding right now. Her inmate trainer says he’s sure she’ll have it figured out in no time!
