Wishing You The Best

Rocket’s inmate trainer says that he’s sad that it’s graduation time.  He’s happy to know that Rocket is going to a good home, but he will be missed.

This week they ran through the basic commands daily, but spent a large part of the day playing and just hanging out.  His inmate trainer wanted to take the time to cherish the last few days with sweet Rocket.  He’d like to wish Rocket and his forever family the best!

I'm Yours

Where should I start about swap week?  It was fun for me (Rocket) and my "swap week" trainer.  I didn't give him any problems.  Well, except one.  He fed me in the kennel in his dorm, and I also went to my kennel in my primary trainer's dorm.  Hey, I thought I could do the switcheroo and eat dinner twice!  I almost got away with it.

I'm still getting used to the officer's loud radios going off.  Please tell me you don't have those things at your house?  I'm a more laid back quiet kind of guy.  Don't get me wrong.  I do like to play and rough house.  I hope you are up for that sometimes.

I can't wait to get to my new home.  I have this picture in my head that there will be big fluffy beds in every room and tons of toys for me to chose from.  One more week and I'm all yours!

One Day I'll Have My Very Own Home!

Hi, my name is Rocket and I hear that I’ll be grad-u-waitin' soon.  I’m really looking forward to it. I’m not sure exactly what it is but my inmate trainer makes it sound wonderful!  He says that I’ll have my own bed(s), treats and an unlimited supply of love.  I have that here, but this environment is a little overwhelming for me.  It’s loud! They got these sputtering radio things, cart thingys on wheels, and big metal doors that slam really loud.

Oh, I have to tell you that I met the cutest little Greyhound!  She’s a puppy and all legs really. She’s a friendly little thing and we had the best time.  I was really gentle with her because she is so small.  I’m looking forward to hanging out with her again.

I know all of my commands and got to show off my skills a little at the weekly evaluation.  My inmate trainer said he was very proud!  He’s telling me that next week is something called swap week.  I’ll be spending some time with a new handler for the week to go over my commands. Sounds interesting!

Check back in next week to see how it goes!

Rocket's The Man

Rocket has really come out of his shell over the past few weeks.  He shows more and more personality and playfulness as he becomes more comfortable with everyone and everything around the prison.  He just takes a little longer to warm up to you, so be patient with this sweet boy.

He is also becoming very social with the other dogs.  He doesn't show any aggression with them when they are playing with toys or sharing a bed.  He is a very mild mannered, good-natured greyhound, and his inmate trainer has grown very fond of Mr. Rocket.

Next week they will be focusing on Rocket's "stay" command.  He does great with all the other basic commands, but needs a little more work with "stay".  His inmate trainer is confident he will show great improvement this time next week.  Stay tuned for updates!

Making New Friends

This was an eventful week for Rocket.  He got a new primary inmate trainer.  He has adjusted well to this change, following commands from a new leader rather quickly.  He knows almost all of his basic commands, and will likely show rapid improvements as his bond grows with his new trainer. Are there any extra commands YOU would want him to know?

Rocket does still startle a bit with sudden loud noises.  His trainer spent time with him in common areas around other people and dogs to help him adjust to the different sounds he might encounter.

The Skies The Limit

This has been an interesting week with Rocket.  So many great things have happened. His inmate trainer is very proud to report that Rocket was very calm and comfortable on the basket ball court.  He would sit or lie down while the inmates played basketball, which he never would have done when he first came to the prison.

Rocket is a laid back dog with no aggression towards other dogs or people.  He is not as shy as he was when he first came and is doing great meeting people.  He has a wonderful way of blending in and showing love.

This week they worked on stair climbing with Rocket. He did very well.  He acted like he enjoyed it.  He is doing most of his basic commands with ease.  He is learning a couple extras,  "leave-it" and "watch me."  Rocket has no limit on his learning skills. His trainer loves this about him.

Some lucky family will be very fortunate to adopt Rocket!

Rocket is the Man!

This week Rocket has settled into his new surroundings even more and is much more receptive to meeting new people at the prison. He has also learned all of his basic commands even mastering sit and jump. Sometimes, he needs a bit of assistance from his trainer on both but it is becoming less the norm than before.  And there are five more weeks left for training.  His inmate trainer is confident he will be proficient in ALL basic commands and be ready for graduation when the time comes.

Rocket is doing very well. He is sleeping well, playing with others, loving his stuffed rooster, and most of all, he is learning and achieving in the program.

He'll be an awesome companion for a very lucky family!

Cuteness To The Max

Another successful week for Rocket!  Rocket is walking with his head up and seems to be feeling secure.  He can be a little unsure of some loud noises like the metal doors closing, etc. but his confidence continues to grow!  Rocket is taking treats from other people around the prison.  His “sit” is improving and he’s doing really well with “let’s go,” “heel,” and “here.”

His inmate trainer says that Rocket loves to run in the big yard and is doing well with the other dogs.  He sleeps with a little stuffed rooster that takes the cuteness scale through the roof.

Rocket’s inmate trainer says that Rocket is going to make someone very happy.  He’s not only cute but he’s got adorable ears that you just must see!

Adjusting To A New Life

Rocket is doing really well with training.  He is showing great improvement with “heel” and “let’s go” and walks well on the leash.  The “here” command is a work in progress, but his inmate trainer believes that he’ll have it figured out in no time.

Rocket is a cautions guy and takes a little time warming up to new people.  He does well with the other dogs and is adjusting to his new surroundings.  His inmate trainer is looking forwarding to seeing what’s in store for this amazing boy!

TCB Trot Line To the Rescue

Trot Line, now known as Rocket, is proving to be a super hero already in week one!!  Some of the other greys were scared of the shiny floors.  Rocket went back to them and walked with them, easing their fears of the slippery terrain.  He is walking well on his leash and getting the hang of several of his commands. We can't wait to see what else is in store for this brave boy!
