Buddy The Love Bug

Buddy is a greyhound that truly lives up to his name.  Come what may, he's your "buddy".  He's a medium level energy dog who loves a hearty romp outside, enjoys playing with toys, and really loves a comfy dog bed where he can lounge the day away.  Buddy has no issues or qualms about being in his kennel, and doesn't show any signs of anxiety about being alone. Buddy loves tons of human interaction.  He's a playful, loyal companion with a lot of love to give.  Don't let his big size fool you.  He's a cuddler and a love bug.

Buddy still retains that youthful playfulness, despite his age.  Buddy is very smart.  He's mastered all his basic commands, plus some.  He passed his training test with flying colors, but didn't expect anything else from this awesome boy!  Buddy's got a spunky personality that's sure to please, endear and entertain.  He tends to shy away from confrontations between other dogs.  He's there to play and looks cute doing it.  He's going to be a perfect addition to anyone's pack.

Big Boy Buddy

Buddy has been hanging out this week with another trainer for swap week.  He reports that Buddy knows all his commands by heart.  He has a great personality and is a joy to be around.  Not to mention how pretty, I mean handsome he is.  He's super laid back and doesn't get excited about much, except feeding time.

Out of this group, Buddy is the biggest greyhound at the prison and almost needs a double-wide kennel to sleep in!  He's pretty cute all curled up when he's sleeping.

This week Buddy had a blast on the big yard playing with the ball.  One of the trainers threw the ball to Buddy's trainer.  The ball fell short of where he was standing. Needless to say,  the trainer did not get out of the way fast enough.

One more week and Buddy goes to his new home.  He is going to be deeply missed by all the trainers.  He is one of the favorites, you know.  Buddy is one of a kind and it will be love at first sight.  Are you ready to open your home and heart to him?

New Home, Here I Come!

Buddy is my name and lounging is my game!

I came into this place not too sure about anything or anyone.  I realized that is wasn't so bad to get loved on and to give love.  It may take me a little more time to get settled into a new place, but watch out when I do!  I'll show you loving' like you've never seen.  LOL

I heard my trainer telling the other guys that I am a remarkable, sweet and affectionate boy, that is going to make some family a great companion.  I'm not sure what all that means, but I think I'm going to like it.  I can't wait!!

The Favorite

During week seven, training begins to slow down.  This is especially true with Buddy.  He has quickly learned all of  his basic commands including some extras:  "leave it", "speak" and "shake".  He recently had some stair training and he picked it up very easily.

Buddy is starting to feel true retirement; Lounging around, playing with the other dogs and running around outside a couple of times a day in the big yard.  Buddy is also getting plenty of affection from all of the men in the dorm that claim him as their favorite.

Buddy is certainly enjoying life at the moment, and dreaming of the day he gets to meet his new family in his forever home.

Playful Buddy

The prison has begun allowing more recreational time outside for the pups and their inmate trainers, and Buddy could not be happier about it.  He run and plays with Sansa as much as he can!

His trainer reports that he is doing exceptionally well with his basic commands, performing them nearly flawlessly for other people.  He has also mastered his bonus commands, "speak" and "shake".  They are still working on "leave it" and "jump", but we have no doubts that sweet Buddy will have those down in no time!

Smart, Sweet, Handsome

Buddy’s inmate trainer has been working to replace the treat reward with a toy or praise reward. His inmate trainer is proud to report that Buddy is doing well with the swap!  The plan is to add a few extras into the daily routine to keep things interesting and fun.  So far, they’ve started working on “speak” and “shake”!

As mentioned before, Buddy’s playmate is Sansa the Greyhound puppy.  He prefers to be out of his kennel playing and hanging out with his pal.  He’s an energetic guy and playing with young Sansa helps burn off some of that energy.  Buddy’s inmate trainer says that Buddy’s new family can expect to have a lot of fun with the smart super sweet boy!

One Friendly Boy!

quite the poser!

Buddy has become a favorite of many here in the SCG program!  His inmate trainer says that it is easy to see why. Buddy is the biggest greyhound there and certainly one of the friendliest. He’s playful and has chosen Sansa, the six month old Greyhound puppy, to be his playmate. Buddy’s inmate trainer says that it is a sight to see, the smallest and largest Greyhounds running around together!

Buddy is an energetic guy and responds much better to commands after he’s had a chance to burn a little of that energy off.  He is performing all of the basic commands with ease and even follows through for strangers!

Earlier in the week Buddy sprained his toe while running.  It’s still a bit tender, but not hindering him in any way. His inmate trainer is keeping a close eye on Buddy and is not allowing him to run for a week.

Buddy, P.I.

Buddy is becoming very playful as the weeks go by.  He thoroughly enjoys the "jolly ball" during his exercise breaks.

His inmate trainer describes him as a curious and playful puppy.  Buddy is always investigating new sights and sounds.  He continues to make impressive progress with his training.  He seems to understand all of his basic commands.  His trainer says that he is right on schedule and showing great improvements daily.

Better Everyday

Buddy is making great improvements!  He is getting more and more comfortable on the shiny floors.  He is also becoming more comfortable in his new surroundings.   He enjoys lying in high-traffic areas so that he can "people watch'.

Buddy also enjoys his daily runs in the grassy area.  He has mastered "heel", "wait", and "bed".  Buddy is also doing very well walking on leash.  I can't wait to watch this boy excel!

First Week!

Buddy, as we've named him, has already made great progress the first week!  The shiny floors were challenging at first, but now he is cruising with ease.  He is becoming more social.  He really loves to rest his head in the trainer's lap and get a neck rub. He is just a big lovable puppy.

The commands they are working on first are "let's go", "kennel" and "wait".  This lovable boy will be a great addition to the right family!
