Get Ready To Fall In Love

As we get close to to the end of the training session with sweet Roxie, her trainers have to brag on the fact of what a great dog Roxie is.  She continues to do her commands flawlessly.  She loves affection and is very loving and gentle.  She still loves playing with the Jolly ball and squeaky toys, and has grown quite fond of her big rubber bone.

The entire training team is going to miss sweet Roxie.  They have thoroughly enjoyed their time with her. She's a gem of a greyhound.   Get ready to fall in love.

Special Girl

It was swap week for little Ms. Roxie.  Her trainer for the week said she is the sweetest pup ever.  She is very well trained, well mannered, calms easily.  Roxie is spot-on with all her commands.

Roxie keeps everyone laughing, the way she hops around flinging toys in the air.  She's fun to watch out on the big yard.  She loves to run with the other dogs.  Man is she fast!  She also walks and jogs well on a leash.

Roxie is very friendly and loves everyone.  Everyone loves Roxie too!   Her new family is getting a  very, very special little pup.

No Tricking Roxie

It was another awesome week with my cool trainers here at Jenkins. I know all of my commands and a few extras like the back of my paw, but they keep giving me treats when I perform them.  That's totally fine with me.  Keep the treats coming!

They try and trick me sometimes.  They put treats on the floor and tell me to "leave it".  I'm not going to fall for that one.  I know all I have to do is not go for the bait, stand and look pretty, which is so easy by the way, and I'll get a reward.  I know it's close to Halloween, but they aren't tricking me.  I'm too smart for that!

Cuteness Overload

Hello my fellow admirers.  It's Roxie and I have to tell you that these guys here at Jenkins really know how to make a girl work for her food.  No free kibble here.  No sir.  On the other side of the coin, they are always telling me how cute and adorable I am.  That is one thing we definitely agree on.  I guess that's why they taught me to "brush my hair".  That goes right along with my cuteness!

Oh man!  I do have to tell you about this cool toy called a Jolly Ball!  It is so much fun to play with!  When they chose a Lab to play the part in the movie "Soccer Bud", they really missed out.  I could've played the part so much better.  With my girlish figure and speed, I would have been awesome!

More next week!

Jolly Ball Time

Roxie is doing extremely well on all of her commands.  She does all of the basic commands flawlessly.  It didn't take her long to figure out Peek-a-boo and "brush your hair" either.  She is such a sweet and loving greyhound that loves nothing more than hanging out with her team of trainers, watching TV or lounging around on a bed.  That's what greyhounds do best.

Roxie has shown a passion for playing with the jolly ball.  This is a ball about the size of a soccer ball.  She was first introduced to it on the big yard this week and Roxie played her little heart out. Her trainers have also brought it inside for her to play with in the training room.  It is a nice reward for her being so attentive during training sessions.  She loves the jolly ball. Treats aren't so bad either.

Peekaboo!

Roxie is continuing to do a wonderful job. During show and tell, she got tens all the way across the board this week for her basic commands. Roxie continues to show the aptitude and willingness to learn. They begin working on a couple of extras this week since she has perfected her basics. She caught on to Peekaboo extremely quickly, and is already able to perform the command without bribes or luring. They also started working on 'brush your hair' this past week. She has no problem doing the command while laying down, so now the next goal is to transfer that to performing the command in any position. Roxie is such a sweetheart and beyond belief adorable. She is going to make her adopting family so happy!

Brains And Beauty

Roxie is continuing to excel in her class at the SCG Academy.  She knows all of her basic commands and her trainer has spent the past week refining them.  The only command he introduced this week was "jump".  Roxie was not too keen on that one to begin with, but greatly improved through the week.  She will now hop up onto the platform all by herself with no coaxing. They also did stair training again this week.  She does an admirable job with a little encouragement from her trainer.

Next week Roxie will keep working on her basic commands to perfect them and work on response time.  Who knows, maybe she will learn a couple extras.  Stay tuned...

Smart Girl with a Sweet Streak

Roxie has taken off this week with her level of cooperation and willingness to learn. Her trainer had expected her to be sitting by now, but she has taken his expectations and blown them out of the water. Although occasionally she will need to be bribed, she executes both the sit and down commands perfectly almost every time. Roxie is also doing very well with stay from whatever position she is in when the command is given.

The only basic command they have not begun working on his jump. They did a brief stair training session this weekend and Roxie was a little reluctant to climb the stairs the first time, and she was definitely happy to return to flat ground after the descent back down. The second time through she did moderately better, but it's something that will still need to be worked on. Everyone knows that stairs are hard for Greyhounds because they have those long toothpick legs on a big body. As a whole, Roxie is doing a superb job and has stolen her way into the hearts of many of the trainers with how sweet and affectionate she is, not to mention utterly adorable. Roxiewill brighten up any home she is adopted into.

Roxie continues to show progress as we near the end of week two.  She has yet to sit without any coaxing, but she is getting closer and closer every day.  Her leash walking has much improved. She no longer pulls on the leash at all.  Heel is one command Roxie has taken to extremely well. She executes heel perfectly, nearly every single time the command is issued.

Roxie picked up on the "leave it" command incredibly quick.  She performs it so well, it almost appears as though she is jumping back when given the command.  Silly girl.

Roxie's trainer is looking forward to having more time to work with her.  He knows she will have her commands mastered in no time.

Brainiac Coming Through!

In just these first few days of session, Roxie has completely and utterly stolen away his trainer's heart. She is adorable beyond measure and as far as he's concerned, she is a canine brainiac. Usually he would take a little more time introducing her to different commands but, but because of how quickly she is catching on to each individual command, there has been no hesitation on beginning to work on multiple commands. Roxie knows kennel very well already and absolutely loves to follow that command. The bed command took her all of ten minutes to catch on to. They've begun working on sit and stay as well. She seems to be catching on to stay fairly quickly, and while she is not yet sitting on her own, she doesn't hesitate or resist when scooped into it. He believes it will only be a short period of time before she is also performing that perfectly. Roxie is going to make a family incredibly happy 10 weeks from now!
