Saber says, "Adopt Me!"

Saber is ready for his new home!  He had his final test for his basic commands and did great.  He also got to show off his extras.  Saber loved it because it meant more treats and lots of attention! Two things he never turns down.

Saber's trainer said he has had a lot of great times with him over his training period.  He is an awesome greyhound inside and out and whoever adopts this gentle giant is going to fall head over heels in love.  Don't pass this greyt boy up!

Great Times Ahead With Saber

Saber had a great swap week!  He did all of his commands for the alternate trainer without being asked twice.  He had no issues to report about Saber during his week with him.  He can be such a silly boy at times, so be prepared for a good laugh.

Saber is a really good dog and will make a great addition to some lucky family.  Get ready for some good times with Saber!

So Much To Love About Saber

This past Thursday, the greyhounds had their commands test, to see how well they are doing.  Saber got a "gold star".  Two thumbs up for Saber!  He was so excited to show off for the ladies.  He knows all of his basic commands and several extras, such as: "leave it", "bow", "shake", "show me love", "belly", "give it" and "drop It".

Saber plays great with the other greyhounds on the big yard.  He is also great with toys.  He is more willing to let one of the other dogs get the toy.  He just likes being part of the group.

There is so much to love about this boy.  He is a very calm greyhound.  He likes to chill in the day room on a bed with his trainer.  His trainer feels you could drag the dog bed around the day room with Saber on it and he wouldn't move a muscle.  He will make a greyt pet for any family.  He will charm your heart and home!

Saber is something else.  He is such a gorgeous gentle giant, with big floppy ears and eyes that will melt your heart.  And what a shiny coat he has.  It just shimmers in the sun like gold. You will feel like you struck it rich, if you adopt Saber.

Making His Trainer Proud

Saber did awesome for the SCG progress review this week!  His inmate trainer said that he was so proud of Saber!

Saber has continued to come out of his shell when it comes to playing.  His inmate trainer will act like he’s sneaking up on Saber and Saber’s tail starts wagging and his big ears go straight up in anticipation of play time.  (keep in mind the sneaking up is loud enough for Saber to hear so that he’s not actually startled).   Saber gives an excited bark and playful growl in anticipation of the fun to come!

Saber walks right beside his inmate trainer and if they are walking around in the dorm and Saber spots a bed he goes right over to make himself at home ready for a nap.

Catching On Quick

What a great week Saber had!  He practiced his commands with the secondary trainer and was a little slow to respond to a couple commands, but overall he did very well.  Along with keeping Saber on his toes with the basic commands, his inmate trainer has started working with him on some extras and doing some off leash training.  How quick this sweet guy catches on, never ceases to amaze his trainer.  He is learning:  "leave it", "bow", "give", "shake", "show me love", "visit" and "drop it".  Who knows what he will be learning next...

Saber was so happy running and jumping around like a deer on the yard, playing with his trainers and other greyhound buddies.  He will take the lead and look back at the other dogs as if to say, "Come on let's have some fun!".  Saber also likes a good game of chase with his trainer.  It's a pretty short game though, since Saber is a greyhound and can run circles around his trainer.

Saber's inmate trainer knows he is going to miss this calm and gentle giant when he goes to his forever home.  Whoever adopts Saber will be blessed, whether it is training, playing or just chilling on the couch.  It is such a joy to be around Saber.  He is AWESOME!!

Sneaky Boy

There's not a dull moment with Saber around.  His inmate trainer has found out that this gentle giant has a devilish side to him.  Saber was on his dog bed by his trainer's bunk.  His inmate trainer was cleaning his kennel, and when he wasn't looking, this stealthy Greyhound sneaked up behind him and grabbed his blanket and began to play tug-a-war.  Such a silly boy!

Saber's training continues to go well.  On Friday, Saber got to show everyone just how well he is doing.  He did all of his commands, along with "jump" without a hitch.  He did awesome!  After he was done, he didn't want to leave the training pad.  Do you think he enjoys doing his commands that much, or is it just because of the yummy treats?  Maybe both...

Saber's inmate trainer looks forward to every day he gets to spend with this awesome greyhound.  It is a pleasure being his caregiver, trainer, playmate and friend.  Take the plunge, and adopt Saber.  You won't be disappointed.

Learning To Be Patient And Polite

Saber has been at the prison for a month now and has adjusted well to his new environment. His inmate trainer says it has been a joy training this gentle giant.  He knows all of his basic commands quite well and his trainer will keep practicing with him until they are perfect.

When Saber came to the prison he didn't like to "hurry" on leash.  With patience and perseverance, his trainer is proud to report that he has overcome that obstacle.

Saber loves to play with toys.  His favorite is a stuffed alligator, a nylabone shaped like a wishbone and the kibble ball.  He would play with the kibble ball all day long, hoping for treats to dispense with every roll.

Saber loves to eat.  You would think he never gets fed.  Saber has to "wait" in his kennel until his trainer tells him to "heel".  They walk over to fill his bowl and then back to his kennel.  He can barely contain himself.  He then has to "sit" or "down" and "stay" while his trainer puts his food in his kennel.  Saber is learning to be polite, patient and to slow down a little while eating.

Saber is a smart, calm and obedient greyhound.  Stay tuned until next week to see what great things this gentle giant accomplishes.

For The Love Of Dog Beds

Saber the gentle giant is feeling much better and back to himself these days.   When Saber first arrived at the prison he didn’t really want to lay down on the dog beds as his inmate trainer requested, but now it’s a different story!  He loves the dog beds!  When his trainer gives him a toy he’ll take it and go straight to bed for play time in comfort!

Training is going really well.  Saber now sits with no problem and works hard to please his human.  His inmate trainer says that he is enjoying the friendship he and Saber share.  He says that Saber is a calm Greyhound with floppy ears who can be a bit shy at times.  Prepare to lose your heart to this sweet boy!

Gentle Giant

Saber's training continues to go well after one week of training.  He picked up on "heel" after about the second time working with him.  It was the same with "wait".  His inmate trainer has been working with him on "sit" over the last part of the week and Saber has picked up on the concept of it.  He is not 100 percent on doing it right on command, but he is getting there.

This week Saber was a little under the weather, but got a pick-me-up by a visit from Fred, a black lab mixed puppy.  Saber enjoyed spending time with the puppy and even wagged his tail.

Saber is a gentle giant, that is calm. smart and can be a little playful at times. His inmate trainer is enjoying his time with Saber, whether it be training, playing for just chilling on a bed together.  He knows that whoever adopts this sweet boy will not be disappointed.

Great Adventures

Saber, a gentle giant, enjoyed exploring his new environment as he came from the transport truck to his dorm to meet his bunk mate.  He slowed up a bit when he went into the building, because of the concrete shiny floors, but he has gotten used to them already.

After giving him his bath and medical checks, he just wanted to lean on his inmate trainer and stay by his side.  The start of bonding 101.

His training started right away.  He is very smart and doesn't mind going in or out of his kennel. He is doing very well with the leash commands, and enjoys the treats he gets for following through.

Saber is an awesome, calm, red greyhound with a beautiful coat that just shines.  He loves to be loved on and his trainer is looking forward to the great adventures that Saber and he will have over the next ten weeks!
