With the weather getting warmer, Lady and the other dogs have been spending much more time outside. Lady loves to lay in the grass and watch the other dogs run around for as long as you’ll let her.
Lady is doing very well on all her commands, although she likes to think for a second before following them. She’s got a mind of her own, but knows all her tricks and is eager to please.
During Swap Week Lady was able to show everyone what a chill and relaxed dog she is. She is so chill that she would probably nap all day if given the chance. Lady loves tossing her toys around and gets so excited and really enjoys socializing with the other dogs.
Lady has a great attitude and knows her commands. She appears to ponder on the command given, prior to doing them at times.
Lady is just a great dog and you are going to love her! I know you can’t wait.
Hey forever family. Are you getting ready for my arrival? I’m talking big comfy beds, treats and all the toys I can handle. I’ve been waiting for that day and it’s going to be here soon. I’ve been working extra hard on my commands so you can be very proud of me. I’ve pretty much mastered my basic commands. I just need a little work on “heel” and “stay”. “Stay” is a tough one for me, because I just want to be wherever you are.
We had show and tell this week and my trainer was so proud of me when I showed her I could do a good “heel” and “stay”. I’m going to make you proud too. Just wait and see.

Lady and her trainer have worked very hard this week at “Stay” and “Heel.” She is so close to getting “Stay.” Lady will stay for short distances, but if she thinks your going to do something without her, she moves. “Heel” is still a work in progress, but she is doing wonderful and is always aiming to please.
The weather has been warmer so they have been able to do more walking and take every opportunity available to walk three laps around outside. After walking she does a little playing with the other dogs. Once she has her fill, she finds the perfect spot of grass to lay in. After a minute or so, she then starts to roll around in the grass. It is hilarious to see her with her tongue hanging out in the grass while relaxing.
Lady’s had a very good week at Pulaski. As she becomes more comfortable, she is more curious. about everything around her. She has to check everything out. She loves books - her trainer reads to her every night, and if she finds a book she will carry it around until someone tells her to “give”.
Her trainers have given her two nicknames: Ladybug and Ladybird. Ladybird because she loves to watch the birds outside, and Ladybug because sometimes she moves so slow it’s like watching a bug crawl past you. LOL
This week Lady and her trainers have been working really hard on the commands “Stay” and “Here”.
Lady’s personality is continuing to grow by the day. She often forgets she’s not a chihuahua and tries to curl up like a lap dog with her trainer. She loves belly rubs, and will paw at you wanting more anytime you stop.
She has started to enjoy playing with toys more, and especially likes the ones that squeak.
Lady knows all of her commands, so now she and her trainer are working on responding to each of them promptly.
Everyday there is something new that makes Lady’s trainer laugh at her. The days have been better so they have been able to go out and enjoy the weather and that is exactly what Lady does. She sniffs the air, her ears go up and she will just stand there and take in the breeze. At other times outside, she will just lay down and rub her face all over the place in the grass. She will roll back and forth like a puppy and that is the funniest thing, well besides the fact, when she sleeps her tongue hangs out the side of her mouth. When she wakes up she’ll look at you with her tongue hanging out like “what?” with her facial expression.
Lady and her trainer are continuing to work on her commands. She needs improvement on stay, here and leave it. Right now they are working on “Stay”. She thinks her trainer is going to leave so she pops back up real quick. They will continue to work on this and all of her other commands in the coming weeks. She is also learning a couple of extras, bow and bounce.
Lady’s trainer got a chance to see her run for the first time this week, and boy is she fast! She ran and ran like she never wanted to stop, and when she finally got tired she laid down in a shady spot with the biggest smile on her face.
She is learning her commands quickly, but gets distracted by noises and things going on with the other dogs. Now that she knows what the command words mean, Lady’s trainer is going to work with her on ignoring distractions.
This week Lady and her trainer are continuing to form their bond with each other. Lady is a bit startled when it comes to loud noises but they are working to improve that and make her feel at ease. Everything is still very new to her, so time is the key.
Lady and her trainer have started working on her basic commands and she already knows “Bed,” “Sit,” and “Down,” although at times she can be a little bit stubborn and will just look at you with those big puppy eyes. How can you help but laugh!
Lady may be a little more mature but she loves to play with toys and will turn her self all around while chasing and throwing them up in the air. She likes playing with balls and took her trainer’s slipper once but dropped it right away when she was told “No.”
Lady is very treat motivated and that will help a great deal during training.
Meeting Lady has been a blast for her trainer. She is an older lady but still has a playful nature in her. She likes playing with the toys and takes them to her kennel, that way, she can go and get another
toy.
The bonding period is going well although she seems to be quite the explorer. Everything seems to be very new to her so they will be working extra hard these upcoming weeks to get their commands down pat.
One thing that makes her trainer smile is that Lady likes to give kisses and they are always “Sneak Attack” kisses.
