More Peanut Butter, Sir!

Welcome back to another week in the life of Marlan. Well, this week the senior trainers took me through final testing and of course I did well! As a reward for doing well on my commands, my trainers gave me a bone with peanut butter in it. Peanut butter is my favorite treat ever! I licked every bit of it off within seconds. I looked at my trainer and gave him my big puppy eyes and asked, “more, please!” He caved in quickly (haha, what a sucker!) and got me even more the second time, so I made sure to thank him by giving him kisses on his cheek. The next morning, we went out on the big yard to run. I love running, but for some reason, every time I start to run all the female dogs come over to me and want to play! I don't know why, but I sure like the attention. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my final blog and hopefully the next time we talk, it will be in person!

Set Phasers to Love

Mr. Marlan is a great hound and is such an obedient boy. This teddy bear is a truly kind and loving creature. His swap week trainer enjoyed the week he got to spend with him as Marlan experienced new things and new people. Marlan is very loyal and would follow you to the ends of the Earth! This wonderful pooch is going to make you so happy and bring a brand new joy you never knew existed to your lives - prepare your hearts!

You Spin Me Right Round!

Welcome back to another week in the life of Marlan! This week, my secondary trainer taught me a cool extra. I learned how to spin on command. It's so fun to spin! I start to do it every time we go in the training room and I make the trainers laugh out loud whenever they see me doing it on my own. I can't wait to show you my new trick and see how fast I can spin by the time I graduate! That's all for this week, until next time!

Forever Family, Here I Come!

Another week down and another week closer to my forever family. These guys are great here and all, but I’m ready to settle down and have the family I’ve been dreaming of. I……………Can’t……………….wait!!!

This week my secondary trainer went through all my commands and I think I did very well. I also did stair climbing. It’s fun going up and down them, but being on the top, I’m like King of the mountain!! The view is magnificent up there.

I also worked on “jump”. I know you will be happy to know that I can do this one too. It may take me a bit to get the hang of jumping in and out of your vehicle at first, but I will get the hang of it. Toss me some treats up there and soon I’ll have it all figured out. After all, we are going to be best buddies, and going places with you is what it’s all about. See you soon!

Sweet Boy!

Marlan has been working on his commands and stairs this week with his secondary inmate trainer.  His secondary trainer says it was his first time helping with stairs and he was way more nervous than Marlan was!  Marlan tackled the stairs with no problems and put his trainer at ease.

Marlan also  had mid-session evaluation with one of the lead trainers, and did great!  Marlan’s secondary trainer says that he enjoyed working with sweet Marlan this week!

Marshmallow Mania

Hey guys! Welcome to another week into my life here at Jenkins. I've learned so much and did great during our show and tell this week. I've also found my new favorite snack food... Marshmallows! I've finally learned how to eat them even with my overbite! I'm watching this box my trainer calls a TV. How did those people get in there? Are they all right? Do they have marshmallows, too? TV is cool. I just enjoy lying on my day bed and getting treats. Until next week, later!

Look Into My Gorgeous Eyes... and fall in love

Marlan’s training is going well. This week was his first show and tell and his trainers were very proud of him. He knows hurry, let’s go, release, wait, heel, here and bed well. Marlan is good at give and leave it. He’s slow to respond to kennel, sit, down and stay, but it’s only the 4th week of training. His trainer knows he will have them mastered by the time graduation is here. Marlan tried “jump” for the first time this week and did very well with it. He will be ready to jump into your vehicle to go for a ride in no time.

Marlan has the most beautiful eyes and a sweet personality. He loves just hanging out with his trainer. Whoever adopts this boy is getting a great hound. When you meet him, you will know what I mean.

Blossoming

Hey guys! Welcome into another week of my life here at Jenkins. I went on a little adventure on the stairs this week. I was a little unsure about what was going on at first, and I'm not the best walking on the the shiny floors, but that’s getting a lot better. And now my trainer wants to take me up some stairs! I was shaky at first, but my trainer and his team helped me a lot. I'm not a Stair Master yet, but I'm almost there. Just give me another week! I know I can do it. As for my other commands… I’m doing very well, if I do say so myself. Until then... Later!

Hello Retirement Life

Marlan is adjusting well to his new surroundings.  His inmate trainer says that he enjoys watching Marlan play and have fun.  Marlan seems to be embracing retirement by laying around and relaxing.

This week Marlan has learned to “stay” while his inmate trainer walks way.  Last week they worked on leash skills… walking by your trainer/human. Marlan seems happy to learn whatever his trainer asks of him, as long as there’s a yummy reward in it for him.

A New Day, A New Life!

Hey guys! At the track I was called Sparkle, but when I got here I was given a new name. I now go by Marlan, which I think is a pretty neat name. I'm trying to adjust to my new environment. The first day I was here, the shiny floors were a bit too much for me. I was slipping and sliding everywhere! My trainer helped me out a lot. I'm still a little bit afraid of them, but day by day I'm learning how to walk on them and conquer my fear. I also started learning some of my commands, which I don't have a problem learning. My trainer gets excited and feeds me lots of treats, which I love. I'm not all about the excitement, but I love the treats! Well, that is it for now. Until next week, later!
