It's Almost Time.... Graduation Day!

Lynyrd has had a good last week.  His inmate trainer says they have enjoyed hanging out and watching TV.  Lynyrd has gotten a little more active and playful while running in the yard.  He seems to have found his comfort zone.  

Walking on a leash in a crowd has gotten much better.  His inmate trainer says that he’s going to miss this sweet guy, but knows he’s going to make a great addition to some very lucky family.  

 

You Struck Gold With Skynyrd

It’s been a busy week for Lynyrd!  He had Swap Week. This is where the inmates exchange hounds to work on commands and see how the dogs do away from their primary inmate trainer.  

Lynyrd’s alternative inmate trainer said that he discovered early on that Lynyrd is a sweetheart!  While getting his teeth and coat brushed Lynyrd snuck in a quick kiss to his alternate trainer’s chin all the way up to his forehead!  His alternate trainer said that he was surprised to say the least, but the way Lynyrd was wagging his tail, he had this planned out the whole time.  

Lynyrd loves being petted and will melt if you scratch all of his itchy spots.  He’ll repay your scratching kindness with adoration.  

The week was over way to fast for Lynyrd’s alternate trainer.  He says that he believes Lynyrd’s new family struck gold with this sweet boy! 

Improving Everyday

Week 8 with Lynyrd and things are going great! He is a sensational boy and is improving week after week with his commands. He keeps getting better and better.

Lynyrd is very calm and playful at the same time. He loves his toys and playing in the training room. His trainer said he has the softest fur and you can’t help but pet him and love on him. His leash walking skills are very good. He likes to please his human.

Lynyrd will make an amazing pet and new member of the family. He loves to lay around and be lazy. A true greyhound. He’s got 2 more weeks and he’s all yours!

7 Weeks Down...3 To Go

Week 7 update finds Lynyrd doing really well!  His inmate trainer says that Lynyrd is getting better at eye contact and is picking up on all of his commands.  He loves playing with toys and gleefully running around.  He’s a loving boy who enjoys attention from all humans.  

His inmate trainer says that while Lynyrd knows most all of his commands they are still working on “down”.  His inmate trainer says that he knows Lynyrd will have it all figured out in a few days. He doesn’t mind having his teeth brushed and seems to be a laid-back guy who just goes with the flow. 

Laid Back & Loving = Lynyrd

Lynyrd has progressed very well over the last few weeks. He has mastered almost all of his basic commands “Down” is a work in progress, but his trainer is pretty sure he’ll have that one mastered in no time. His trainers have been working on duration of his commands, like sit and stay, and he has caught on quickly. He should have no problem passing his test at the end of his training at Jenkins.

Lynyrd is a sweet dog, very laid back and loving Whoever adopts this handsome hound is in for a real treat.

Dorm Favorite

This week Lynyrd has made a lot of improvement with his commands!  He did a great job at Show and Tail performing his commands with the secondary inmate trainer.  He was a little hesitant with “down”, but they’ll work on this a bit more until Lynyrd feels confident in his response.  His inmate trainer says that Lynyrd can be a little slow responding to commands, but he follows through.  

He loves to run and play in the big yard.  So far his favorite toy is a pink jolly ball.  He also loves his hedge hog.  The squeaky noise seems to make him pretty happy and excited.  

Lynyrd also loves hanging out with his inmate trainer during down time.  His inmate trainer says that he believes that Lynyrd is going to make a great pet for some lucky family.  His expressive ears and eyes are sure to be a big hit.  Lynyrd is a gentle and loving boy who is a dorm favorite.  

Food Is A Big Motivator

Another week of training is under Lynyrd’s belt and he is doing so much better with his commands.  Food is the motivator.  He will do anything for a yummy treat.  He is also very smart and catches on fairly quick.

Lynyrd loves to be around Opal.  She is another greyhound in the program and they are quite fond of each other.  His trainer thinks Lynyrd is in love. It’s puppy love! LOL

Lynyrd loves to be petted and loved on.  He also likes to chill out on the big dog beds.  Nothing seems to get past his eyes or ears.  If he hears a noise, he is quick to check it out.

Lynyrd’s trainer believes he will make a greyt addition to any family.  Lynyrd loves to be close to his human.  See you next week with another update.

Loves Attention

This week Lynyrd’s inmate trainer has been working on leash walking skills with Lynyrd.  Lynyrd is doing really well!  They’ve also been working on “leave it” and Lynyrd is doing much better.  His inmate trainer says that it’ll just be a matter of time before Lynyrd has it all figured out. He likes to get a lot of attention. While training, treats do not seem to hurt his feelings either.  

Lynyrd loves to play with one of the other female greyhounds.  He loves to run in the big yard with her and the other dogs.  

Happy Boy!

Lynyrd is adjusting to his new surroundings. He loves to greet people and get loved on. His leash walking is getting better every day. If he starts to pull, his trainer will change direction and Lynyrd will start walking by his side again. He’s a smart boy.

Lynyrd has learned “bed”. He loves to hang out with his trainer while lounging on one of the comfy beds. His trainer is working on the kennel feeding routine and Lynyrd already has part of it figured out. His trainer loves the way his tail wags when he gets to come out of his kennel. He’s one happy boy!

Expressive Ears

It’s Lynyrd’s first blog!  His inmate trainer says that upon his arrival Lynyrd was very curious about his new surroundings.  His inmate trainer says that he’s been working on bonding with Lynyrd by hand feeding him.  Lynyrd was a little unsure at first about eating from some stranger’s hand but he warmed up and now happily takes food/treats with no problem.  So far his favorite treat is peanut butter cookies. 

Lynyrd is a very sweet boy.  He’s already learning his name!  He has expressive ears that will go straight up or in different directions.
