Graduating To A Bright Future

Sissy has matured in the last ten weeks and is now ready for her forever home.  She obeys her commands very well.  Her inmate trainer says that she can be a little stubborn at times, but she knows what she’s supposed to do and will follow through.  Her inmate trainer is proud to report that Sissy passed her basic training exam!

Her inmate trainer says that Sissy is a wonderful girl who’s going to make her new forever family very happy!

Retirement Is Serious Business

This week Sissy spent some time with an alternate inmate trainer for swap week!  Her alternate handler says that they both took a little time adjusting to each other.  It didn’t seem to take long before Sissy felt more comfortable and was performing her basic commands and playing.  She did great with all of her commands and by Friday she was full of excitement and eager to run circles and have fun.

Her alternate handler says that Sissy likes to go for walks and to hang out and relax (retirement is a very serious job after all).  She is eager to learn and looks to her human to be the pack leader.  She enjoys the company of humans and dogs.  Her alternate handler believes she’s ready for her forever home and hopes that she’ll have a future filled with love and fun times.

Playtime Is The Best Time

Basic command training is going very well!  Sissy is not too crazy about the stay command so her inmate trainer is working to improve her response to this one.  She loves to run and play with the other dogs in the big around and enjoys toy playtime.  She’s a little slow on the stairs, but is coming along nicely.

Her inmate trainer says that overall Sissy is going to make someone a great pet and companion!

Toys, Toys, Toys

When Sissy arrived at the prison she was 7 pounds under weight.  She is now 64 pounds which puts her a tad over race weight, but her inmate trainer is watching her closely to make sure she doesn’t gain too much.

Work continues on commands and Sissy is doing really well.  She’s not fond of the wait command, but her inmate trainer knows that she’ll gain the patience for this one soon.

Sissy is very playful and loves toys and running in the big yard.  Her inmate trainer believes that she is going to be a great companion for some lucky family.

Learning To Stay

Sissy is doing really with training.  The only basic she’s a little slower responding to is stay.  Her inmate trainer says that stay is the hardest command for the dogs to learn.  He says he used to think sit was the hardest for them, but believes that stay takes the cake.  He knows that Sissy will have this figured out before long.

She’s a sweet girl and he hopes that she finds a wonderful forever home that will shower her with love and attention.

One Step At A Time

Sissy is making steady progress with training!  She tried out stairs this week and did really well.  She went up the steps very slowly at first then decided to run and jump on her way down.  Her inmate trainer is working to slow her down and have her take one step at a time.  He is confident that she’ll have it mastered once she gets use to it.

She is doing really well with all of her basic commands.  She has hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, wait, heel, here, bed and jump down pat.  She knows sit, down and stay but is a little slow to respond.  No worries though her trainer knows she’ll be responding to her commands like clockwork in no time.

Her inmate trainer says that she enjoys running and playing in the big yard with the other hounds.  Sissy is a great girl and he hopes she finds a home filled with love.

Enjoying Life

Sissy is well and able to run in the big yard with the other dogs!  It’s hard to tell who’s enjoying it more her or her inmate trainer.  She has gotten the hang of her basic commands, but is a little slow responding to here, sit, and down.  She knows hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, wait, heel, bed and jump well!

Her inmate trainer is looking forward to watching Sissy’s progress in the days ahead!

Running In The Yard

This week Sissy has been playing in the big yard with the other Greys.  Her inmate trainer says that at first she would just trot around, but by midweek she'd let go and was running fast with the rest of the group!

Training is going well and Sissy has nice leash skills.  She's doing well with the sit and down commands as well.  This week her inmate trainer introduced jump by placing her front paws on the bench and helping her jump up.  As soon as she gets used the feel of the movements she'll be jumping in no time!  Her inmate trainer is proud to say that Sissy performs hurry, let's go, kennel, wait, heel, here, stay, and bed nicely!

Training For Treats

Sissy is still recovering from her surgery and therefore cannot run in the big yard with the other dogs.  She’s happy and ready to zoom around she has to wait a little longer.  Her inmate trainer is looking forward to watching her play.

Her inmate trainer has been working with her on leash etiquette, wait, and kennel commands. She’s doing great with leash walking and the wait command!  She’s not thrilled about returning to her kennel, but will go in for a treat.  She’s also doing well with let’s go and release.  She’s still working on down, stay, bed and jump but her inmate trainer knows that she’ll have the down in no time.

The Early Days

Sissy Spacek arrived at the prison underweight and a little rough around the edges.  She very unsure about this noisy new place.  Her inmate trainer is spending time bonding with this sweet girl and helping her to learn to trust.  While out of her kennel she enjoys watching everyone, but is not so sure about joining in all the hustle.  Her inmate trainer knows that giving her time to adjust is key to their relationship and he's happy to help her feel secure.

Training will start soon and he's looking forward to watching this wonderful girl grow!
