Homeward Bound

Welcome back, Geo fans! Well, this is the last week for Geo here at Second Chance Academy. His trainer said that it has been so much fun to train Geo for the past ten weeks. He was a blast to work with and is such a fast learner! You will have a lot of fun teaching him tricks and enjoying his great personality. His training team is going to miss him dearly, and hopes that you love him even more than they did! Thanks for adopting 😊

You're Going To Love This Boy!

We have come to the end of swap week. What is swap week? This is when a different training team works with a different greyhound for the week. They test for signs of separation anxiety and see how well they do their commands for someone other than their primary trainer. Geo’s swap week trainer is happy to say Geo was a pleasure to work with and he had no problems whatsoever. No SA and he did great with his commands. Not only did he complete every command with precision, but he plowed through his extras with excitement!. His trainer doesn’t know who’s having more fun. Giving each command full of anticipation or Geo fully focused, ready to display his intelligence. He is one wonderful greyhound and you are going to love him!

The Amazing Geo

Hello Geo Fans! It’s been another wonderful week with Mr. Geo. He has officially perfected all of his commands! Now to work on reaction time. He has also learned some extras. Give, kiss, shake and spin. Your friends can all marvel at his cool tricks. They will be amazed.

His personality has really revealed itself. He’s so playful, loving and full of life. He plays great with the other dogs and he meets no strangers. Everyone is Geo’s friend. He is an explorer at heart. He loves to roam around and smell everything and I mean EVERYTHING. His trainer said, sometimes he will be walking, and he’ll stop and put his nose up in the air and start sniffing. It’s too cute.

Geo is also a real head turner. He has the most beautiful color scheme of any greyhound his trainer has seen. You couldn’t ask for a more handsome boy. His trainer said he is such a pleasure to be around and is looking forward to the rest of the session with Geo.

One Perfect Guy

Welcome back, Geo fans, to another week in my life!

Well, this week I did a couple of training sessions with different people so that I can show my trainers that I will do my commands for anyone that wants me to listen to them. And of course I did very well with every person I worked with! One of my favorite pastimes is to be able to go in the training or with my trainers and learn new tricks, and then I get to play with all my toys. I'm learning a new one this week and when I learn it really well I'll tell you what it is!

I love playing fetch and if you have a few toys to throw, I can go get them and bring them back to you just as fast as you can throw them. Sometimes I get so excited that I will just let loose and start running around in circles in the training room - I just love playing! Anyway, until next time - and don't forget to come back next week to find out what the new tricks are!

Later!

Geo

A Kisseroo from Geo to You

Welcome back to another week with Geo. This week, Geo has been doing very well on all of his commands, so he and his trainer have been working on some cool extras. One of those is spin, which is a lot of fun. They have also worked on kiss, where he puts his cold wet nose on your cheek. He will even surprise you by licking your cheek! He thinks he is so funny (and he’s right).

They have also been working on shaking hands, or rather, shaking paws. He loves it. Geo gets so excited anytime he gets a chance to get out of his kennel and go outside on the dog run to go to the bathroom or just run around like the wind. He’s still a puppy at heart, and loves to jump and act like a goofball every chance he gets. They have a 10-inch pink ball in their training room, and for the past couple of weeks, Geo would have nothing to do with it - no clue why! Then they covered the ball with kibble treats and now he will push it to you from across the room with his nose like he's playing pass. They push it back and forth to each other.

Tune back in next week to see what Geo and his new favorite toy are up to!

Retirement Life Is Pretty Cool

Welcome back Geo fans! This week my secondary inmate trainer took me through the commands. Needless to say I did great.  I got lots of treats and attention.   We also spent some time watching a movie.  I snoozed, but don’t tell my trainer LOL.  It was very relaxing.  This retirement stuff is pretty cool.

Okay so, we started working on stair training this week.  Ya’ll ever seen stairs from my perspective?  If not just try it out and tell me what you think.  Okay get up off of the floor. You look silly…. My first attempt was not all that great, but my inmate trainer reassured me that everything was gonna be alright so I thought I’d give it a try.  After my second attempt I’m like ya’ll get outta the way, hold the treat, and I’ll be right back.  Yeah, I got this too.  I’ll be expert level soon

Last week I got to play and run in the big yard.  I admit I had to show a little for my secondary inmate trainer.  I mean, seriously aim to impress – right?

Geo on Safari

Hello, Geo fans!

This has been a very productive week for Mr. Geo. He has mastered the art of bed, and he has started sitting on command with no bribe or lure! He's also started learning how to jump, which he's picking up on fairly quickly. And as usual, Geo is the best leash-walker in the dorm. He is also an explorer through and through, always investigating and mapping out new worlds. Thanks to this, he's been nicknamed George (Curious George!). He will roam around sniffing and checking everything out on a daily basis like he hasn't already seen it a hundred times. But it's lots of fun to watch his facial expressions that he makes along with his head tilts and his adorable floppy ears while he is exploring. When it comes to people, Geo meets no strangers. He is a real pleasure to be around and he's reeling his trainer in a little more each day - soon, Geo will have claimed his ENTIRE heart! Mwahaha!

Reckon that's all for now. Y'all take care!

Mister Friendly

Hello Geo fans!

This has been an amazing week with mister Geo. For those of you guys who don't know, he turned two years old on Thursday. His trainer threw him a little party and he spent the day running around the dorm with his sister, eating peanut butter and doggie treats, and also laying around on his bed with his trainer watching football. He got to run on the big yard for the first time and really enjoyed it, and he did wonderfully with the other dogs. Geo loves playing with other greyhounds and he gets along great with them. Alright folks, I reckon that's all for now! Be sure to check back next week to see how he’s liking being two!

Birthday Boy!

Geo’s inmate trainer says that it’s been an exciting week!  He loves to hang out in his bed watching football and eating peanut butter Kongs.  He’s quickly becoming a master at the art of leash walking.

Oh, in case you didn’t know Geo has a sister in the program as well.  Yep, little miss Jolie!  Her kennel is directly across from Geo’s!  They play together in the training room and get along greyt.  They even share a bed from time to time.  Their birthdays are Thursday and they’re going to get a free day to relax and be lazy while eating a peanut butter.

Geo is picking up on everything really well and seems to be adjusting with no issues.  They’re taking training slow and steady and Geo seems just fine with that.

Back Scratches and Leg Twitches!

Hello everyone!

For those of y’all who don’t know me, my name is Sergio Franchi, AKA Gio. I’m a recently retired racing greyhound. On August 8, they sent me to some program called Second Chance Greyhounds! It was then that I was met by this guy who said he would be my trainer for the next ten weeks. And boy, let me tell y’all, it didn’t take me long to start liking this guy. On my first day, he gave me a bath, cleaned my ears, brushed me, and gave me a kennel with my own blanket and pillow! And while he was bathing me, he kept scratching this spot on my back that made my leg twitch! It was the BEST.

He’s been having me spend a lot of time on this big fluffy thing that he calls a bed. I’m really starting to like it here. He gives me lots of yummy treats when I lie down on it. And for some reason, he insists on feeding me out of his hand. I’m not sure what to make of that. I hope he knows I’m not a puppy anymore, I’m almost two years old for cryin’ out loud! But, on the other hand, I can see how he may be mistaken me for royalty! Other than that, I’m really having a good time so far. That’s all folks, and it’s long past my bedtime. Until next time, take care!
