Smart and Strong

JoJo is incredibly smart, but he’s got a mind of his own. He knows all of his commands, but he hasn’t shown much enthusiasm for learning extra tricks. As his trainer puts it, he’s not a “circus dog”. She thinks though that he might become more easy-going when he’s comfortable in his home with his own family.

JoJo is a very laid-back dog who is happiest when there is not much going on. He is not the type of dog to be getting into lots of mischief. He will usually only play with his toys for a few minutes, unless one of them has peanut butter in it, which he loves. He really comes into his own when he is playing outside and running.

Jo Jo Loves the Outdoors

Jo Jo has a dance he does when he is getting a scratch on his lower back. His trainer calls it the “Cha-Cha.” It’s too cute!

The peak of his playfulness is early in the morning. Jo Jo gets so excited and is ready to start the day. His trainer can’t stress enough about how Jo Jo loves being outside. He resembles a football player, “ducking and dodging,” around the other dogs. At other times he becomes a baseball player, “slipping and sliding,” into base.

Jo Jo has found his bark and has a deep voice. He whines when watching the other dogs run while he is waiting his turn.

His trainer continues to work with him on his commands and he should have them mastered before Jo Jo joins his new family. I know you can’t wait.

Loves to Run

Jo Jo is a fast as lightning and his trainer loves to see him run. She thinks he is the fastest runner out of this group. Jo Jo does seem to duck and dodge every other greyhound and take them for a run.  He looks like a football player trying to make it to the end zone.

When Jo Jo reaches his new home, his personality will really begin to come through.  He is a laid-back
greyhound and hasn’t begun to play with toys yet but he is as sweet as can be.

Jo Jo does know all of his basic commands and will continue to work to keep them sharp.

Very Observant

JoJo is a smart boy and knows hurry, let’s go, kennel, wait, stay and bed. He is a little slow to follow through on release, heel, here, sit and down, but his trainer is working extra hard on these. She knows he can do it.

Outside JoJo loves nothing more than to run, and can outpace any other dog in the program. He’s super fast. It’s such a joy to watch him open up and run. Inside he is very easily distracted, and while he loves training he also loves observing everything else going on.

Jo Jo Says "Ruff"

Jo Jo’s trainer had wondered if he knew how to bark, and she finally heard him for the first time this week.  He enjoys the big bean bag and will snuggle down in it to relax.  His trainer said he asked Santa for one this Christmas and hopes there’s one waiting when he gets to his forever home.

Jo Jo is continuing to work on his basic commands and he is a very smart boy.  Outside is his favorite place to be and he loves to run.  His trainer loves seeing him so happy and playing with the other dogs while outside.

Conquered The Bean Bag

Jo Jo’s trainer can see a difference in him since arriving at Pulaski.  He has opened up quite a bit and he shows it outside when he lets loose. it’s so much fun to see Jo Jo enjoying himself running and playing. He’s usually the first one to go outside and the last one to come in.

It was a stressful week due to three new roommates that Jo Jo has had to become accustomed to.  He still loves to play with his friend Rufus and does play with toys in the privacy of his room.  His trainer continues to bring him downstairs so he can mingle with the other dogs.  He has finally overcome his fear of the bean bag and he now lays on them.  Jo Jo is so sweet and he is doing well learning his commands.  He is a smart boy.

Coming Out Of His Shell

Jo Jo’s trainer enjoys working with him and said he is a smart greyhound and can get easily distracted by all the commotion that goes on in the dorm. Slowly but surely, he is coming out of his shell and she is beginning to see his happy personality shining through to include his wagging tail.

Jo Jo is the happiest when he is around people, he is familiar with. Rufus is his best friend and Jo Jo is so happy when he gets to spend time with him. Jo Jo enjoyed seeing the other greyhounds run but his trainer said he only ran for a minute, then he was ready to play with his toys.

Jo Jo is really enjoying retirement. He is laid back and loves napping throughout the day. He doesn’t know many of his commands yet but his trainer is working hard and plans to have him ready by graduation. Hey, It’s only week 3.

Buddies

He does like his treats but he is not really motivated enough to do anything for them. Jo Jo is not a big tail wagger. In fact it has only wagged a few times when he has gotten excited around his buddy Rufus. This is also the only time he will really play with toys too. They are best buddies!

His trainer knows that consistency and patience is going to be the key with Jo Jo. All that is wanted for Jo Jo is for him to be happy and get as much love as he can get. Slowly but surely, he is coming out of his shell.

Jo Jo has been learning the Bed and Sit command and his trainer hopes he doesn’t get stage fright when Ms. Patti comes.

Pretty Boy

Jo Jo is still getting used to his new surroundings according to his trainer.  They have been trying to play the name game but he is too busy watching and observing his surroundings.  Jo Jo is a much different dog in the training room, away from all the distractions. He has also gotten comfortable in his bed and loves to sleep with his legs in the air.  He is roaching already!

Jo Jo and his trainer has been working on Bed, Here, Let’s Go, Kennel, Wait and Release.  He is so sweet and beautiful.  His trainer loves to call him “Pretty Boy.”

It will take some time to come out of his shell.  At the moment he is not toy motivated but Jo Jo likes his treats.  On day 2 he was going up and down stairs. More updates next week.
