Heading To A Forever Home Soon

Benny goes through his commands once a day to stay sharp on everything.  He’s been enjoying the last few days relaxing and playing outside.  He likes to run with the other pups, but doesn’t mind playing on his own.  His inmate trainer says that she’s truly going to miss this sweet boy, but she’s happy that he’ll find a forever home with fluffy beds and lots of treats!

Adorable!

Benny has had a pretty relaxed week.  His inmate trainer says she’s super proud of all his progress. Benny rocks his commands with both hand signal and verbal cues.  He’s adorable when preforming his extra commands.  He knows how to show love, kiss, shake, high five, paws up, say his prayers, bounce, spin and knows how to choose a hidden treat in your hand!  He’s truly one smart cookie!

As a general reminder, with any dog make sure they hear you if you approach their bed when there are sleeping. It helps make them aware of your presence and keeps from startling them awake.

Class Clown

Benny is such a class clown!  He seems to love the sound of laughter.  He did a great job with all his commands in front of the other inmates.  His inmate trainer says that Benny prefers to be out of his kennel and in the mix of things.  He likes to nap outside of his kennel and seems to think the whole floor is his kennel/safe place.  His inmate trainer says that Benny is very laid back and easy to love.  If he looks like he’s going to jump she puts her hand out and it stops him.  He understands that jumping is not approved behavior.  He does really well with correction and redirection.  His inmate trainer says that she’s very proud of this sweet boy!

Benny The Bouncer

Benny’s tight shell has erupted this week! He had so much energy and wanted to play, that his trainer could hardly keep up. LOL Benny does try and jump when it’s playtime and his trainer is working hard to correct this. He loves his toys and playing with the ball outside. He also likes the chewing bones.

Benny has mastered all of his commands…….except “sit”. He has learned it and knows it, but still likes to do it on his terms. He also knows kiss, show me love, spin, bounce, crawl and paws up. Benny is a sweet boy and his trainer is having a blast training him.

Ball Chaser

Benny has made a lot of progress this week!  His inmate trainer says that Benny is starting to come out of his shell!  He’s already learned many of his commands.  His inmate trainer makes the training session fun, so he’s all in for a good time and snacks.  He’s being a little slow responding to the sit command.  He knows it, but prefers to only do it once a day and not every time requested.  He believes it’s good to keep his inmate trainer on her toes.  He’s a bit of treat snob and only agrees to meat treats.  He loves to chase the ball in the yard and will try to get the other dogs attention in the day room in an effort to gain a playmate.

Coming Out Of His Shell

Benny has made some progress this week. He knows hurry, let’s go, release, wait, stay, bed. Bed was no problem for Benny. After all, he is a greyhound.

He is working on “sit” this week. Once he grasps it, they will work on more. His trainer has found he likes the meaty treats the best. Benny has come out of his shell a bit this week and even played with his trainer. She looks forward to getting to know Benny over this training session.
