Sweetest Girl Around

This is the last blog entry for Lil Miss Chloe. Her trainer can't believe how fast this session has flown by. This week, her inmate trainer has been trying to prepare himself for her graduation day. This is also the day that she'll go to her forever home. This week was the graduation test for the Greyhounds, and he's very proud to say that little Chloe passed without any problems. She did every command on the first try with a trainer that she's never worked with before. Chloe is a very smart, sweet, and loving Greyhound. It doesn't take her long at all to figure things out. She made her trainer's job this past 10 weeks a breeze and a real treat. He is truly going to miss this sweet Greyhound.

New Best Friend

Swap week was a breeze for Chloe.  Her swap week trainer said her trainers have done an outstanding job working with her.  It shows in every aspect of this sweet girl.  She does great with all of her commands.  She knows the majority of them with hand signals too.  Chloe is a gentle gal when she plays with toys, and gives them up easily.

Chloe's trainers have enjoyed having this delightful Greyhound and will miss her when she goes to her forever home.  You are gaining more than a pet.  You are getting a new best friend.  You hit the jack pot with Chloe!

Heart Full of Love

This week has been another great one with Little Miss Chloe. This little greyhound is so awesome! Her trainer is always telling the other trainers that he wishes he could carry Chloe home with him! She really is the perfect dog.

Chloe likes to play and calms very easily. When playing with toys, she is very gentle and will easily give up the toy. Chloe gets along with all of the other Greyhounds here as well as all of the trainers. She does all of her commands extremely well, and not just with her trainer but with all who try.

The only thing is she gets a little excited around women especially when she first meets a woman she doesn't know. It has been difficult to work with her on this because of the shortage of women at the prison, but she's only excited for a short time and then she'll calm right down. If you're looking for a dog that will make you laugh and melt your heart then Chloe is the one you're looking for. Her trainer knows that she'll make her new family at her forever home very, very happy.

Obedient Girl

Chloe is an extremely well behaved Greyhound.  At this point in her training, she knows all of her basic commands very well and performs them without the need for treat incentives.  Of course, she still gets treats during some of her training exercises, because she deserves it for being such an obedient girl.  Chloe's secondary handler said she makes training seem so easy and effortless.

Chloe enjoys "chill-time" and just relaxing.  She loves to run when given the opportunity, which her trainer said is a joy to watch.  You can see the excitement in her body when she is running, playing or just horsing around with her trainers.  Whoever is lucky to adopt Chloe is in for a real treat.  She is a wonderful dog!!  Enjoy her.

The Best Companion You Could Ask For

This week's training consisted of polishing Chloe's basic commands. She has pretty much mastered all of them, and improved the duration and distance for "stay." She has a little problem while staying in the sit position (in case you haven't noticed from pictures, their butts typically don't even touch the ground when they sit!). She tends to slowly drop into the down position if left in "sit" for too long. So she and her trainer are brainstorming ways to make "sit" more comfortable and increase her tolerance for "stay" in both duration and distance.

Chloe has shown more interest in toys this past week. She's not really into squeaky toys - her thing is soft, stuffed toys. She will play with a squeaky toy if it's a soft, plushy toy. She will also chew on hard chew toys sometimes. She is such a sweet and loving Greyhound and always makes her trainer's day better if he's feeling down or upset (Greyhounds are greyt to have around for winter blues). He feels so lucky to have been her assigned human!

I'm Cute And I Know It

Happy New Year from Chloe and her inmate trainer!  He is thankful for starting off a brand new year with his good friend and awesome greyhound, Chloe!  This week her inmate trainer worked with Chloe on duration and distance with her "stays" in all positions (sitting, down and standing).  She is doing great.

Chloe has mastered all her other basic commands, so her trainer added "shake" and "paws up" to her extra commands list.  Her shake is so cute.  She tilts her head a little and slowly brings her paw up.  With "paws up", Chloe will put her 2 front paws on a surface then turn and look at her inmate trainer as to say, "OK.  This is a piece of cake, so what's next?"

Chloe's trainer is thinking about adding another extra command to her ever growing list.  Check back next week for more updates on the cutest greyhound around, Chloe!  Happy New Year!!

Irresistible Gal

It's Christmas and Chloe's trainer can't think of any other Greyhound he'd rather spend it with.  She spreads Christmas cheer to everyone she meets.  Chloe is irresistible!

Chloe has pretty much mastered all of the basic commands and her trainer plans to start working on some extras next week.  She is starting to show a lot more interest in toys and is very well behaved during play time.

Chloe is a sweet little girl and will be a grand addition to whoever adopts her.  Check in next week for more updates.  Chloe wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Adorable Lil Champ

Another week has passed with Chloe. Lots of progress has been made during Week 3 training. Her inmate trainer says that she is getting better and better with her basic commands so that she'll do all of them on the first or second try.

He also had the chance to work on going up and down the stairs with Chloe. She was a little unsure about them at first, but with a little work she started going up and down them with only a little bit of trouble! Her trainer is certain that with a few more stair training sessions she'll be fully comfortable with them.

Chloe also worked on "jump" this week. Like with the stairs, she was a little unsure, but with the help of treats she quickly overcame her fear. She now jumps up on the platform like a champ and without the aid of treats!

Chloe is such a sweet and loving Greyhound and her trainer has quickly become quite fond of and attached to this lovable girl. He said he's sure her family at her forever home will be so happy with her.

Who squeaked? Was it me?

Chloe (or 'Lil Chloe' as her trainer sometimes calls her) is starting to come out of her shell. She was very scared of brooms and mops at first ("what is that... we didn't have those where I'm from!") but she's already getting used to them.

As she's getting used to how things are around here, she's letting herself be more playful. Chloe really likes chew toys and stuffed animals. Some of the stuffed animals have squeakers in them, and when she bites them and they squeak, she stops to look around for the sound! It's so funny.

Chloe is picking up on her commands very quickly. On her third day here, she was already doing well with "sit," and then a few days later she was well on her way to mastering "down," "bed" and "heel." On every command except for "jump" she is slow to respond but will still do it, which is remarkable this early on in the program! And Chloe is very well-behaved on a leash. And did I mention how cute this little dark brindle greyhound is? She has such a soft coat and her colors are beautiful. She has a white patch on her chest and the cutest face - it's so hard not to dote on her! Chloe's trainer looks forward to the time he gets to spend with her and knows she has so much more in store for everyone as she keeps coming out of that shell.

Adjusting To Retirement Life

Chloe is a very sweet Greyhound.  She is the most beautiful dark brindle girl around.  She is a little on the shy side and unsure of her new environment, but her inmate trainer is working with her on that.  He has been doing a lot of leash training around the dorm to help her adjust to all the new things around the prison, like the loud radios and noisy keys the guards carry.  These noises are so different than what she was used to at the track/kennel.

Chloe is very smart and her inmate trainer says that it is going to be a breeze teaching her the basic commands.  He is starting to work with her on:  "sit", "bed", "bed" and "heel".   Tune in next week for updates on the beautiful brindle girl, Chloe.
