Such a Joy

Here we are, the time has come for Hope to go to her forever home.  Her trainers said she has been such a joy to work with and will be missed.

Hope has mastered all of her basic commands.  She is very loving and easy to fall for.  She is a motivator that is for sure.  She likes to lay around and watch T.V. and have her soft ears rubbed.  Her trainer is very confident that Hope will make her new family as happy as he was while working with her.

Happy Hope

Hope has had a wonderful week. She knows all of her basic commands, so she just spends her time lying on her bed and getting everyone's attention now. She's a great dog who enjoys giving all of her love. She has a sweet and loving personality and has acclimated so well to her temporary home at Jenkins. Her swap week trainer did not find any aggressive behavior towards anything. She is curious and wanders around getting lots of attention, which is so easy because everybody loves her. Hope is a beautiful dog! This girl will make such a great companion, and her swap week training team is so grateful to have spent this time with her. It has been a wonderful experience with Hope!

Fast As Lightning

Wait, what?  It’s week 8 already?  Not sure how it’s gone by so fast!

Hope worked on her commands in front of everyone this week and nailed every single response.  Yeah, she’s pawsome like that.  Her inmate trainer says that Hope is a lot of fun to work with.  She’s very smart and loving all at the same time.  She rewards everyone with her love and you can’t wait to spend some time with her.

Her inmate trainer says that he enjoys watching her during morning exercise because none of the other dogs can catch her.  He said she kicks in the after burners and runs like a girl enjoying life to the fullest.

Toy Crazy!

Hope has had another great week here at Second Chance Greyhound Academy. This week she has spent a lot of time working on her manners. She gets to play with her toys, but only after she waits patiently for them. She must follow her trainers calmly in the locker where her supplies are kept, all the way to the training room. After her stuffed animals start flying, it's on! She spins and leaps around the room a few times, all while shaking her toys. Then she starts bringing her toys to you for about 10 minutes of playing fetch. Once she is worn out from that, she flops down to be petted for a while. Then it's back to the kennel for a two or three-hour nap. Sorry to cut it short, but her big brown eyes are demanding that she be petted right now!

Having A Blast

Here we are at week six already.  Hope’s inmate trainer says it’s been a joy working with this sweet girl!  They have been working on holding “stay” and “bed” by increasing the time a little at a time.  With “bed” she hangs out on her bed while in the day room watching movies with her inmate trainer.  With “stay” she’s requested to stay put in one spot until released.  She’s doing great!

Her inmate trainer says that working with Hope is a blast!  She knows most all of her commands with verbal and hand signal cues.

A Newfound Joy of Toys

Hope is having another great week here at Second Chance Greyhound Academy. At the start of the session, she was a little bit unsure about any changes in her routine or environment. Now she is completely out of her shell and ready to meet any challenge! She loves meeting and interacting with new people, and strange dogs are just friends she hasn't made yet.

Hope has found a new love in her life this week... Toys!! She spent 15 minutes chasing stuffed animal toys, and by the time she was finished, she was ready for (and took) a three-hour nap.

Snack Connoisseur

Hello humans!  Hope here to talk to you about one of my favorite subjects. treats!   Let’s talk about my least favorite to the ultimate tail-wagging snack.  Marshmallows…  Nope – who needs ‘em.  I’ll take them then spit ‘em out, but really it’s a waste of my time.  Moving right along… popcorn will be next on the leave it poll.  So maybe I’m a popcorn snob, but I only want the butter pieces.  I’ll eat the plain ones if I’m really, really, hungry but a girl’s gotta have standards.  Next up… plain kibble… I mean hello!  Nothing exciting here, but I’ll chomp down on it because one shouldn’t waste food.  Okay so climbing on up the flavor favor meter are these Cheeto like things.  Ohhhh the crunch… Yes please keep ‘em coming.  Finally in first place are meat snacks.  Just thinking about their chewy bacony goodness has me drooling a bit.

I hope you’re taking notes because this is important stuff!  There will be a taste test later on.

So I’m doing good on all my commands.  I mean I’m brilliant so how could I not be.  My inmate trainer is doing well with his training.  He’s picking up on when to insert treats, etc.  Oh, I should mention I’m also fond of comfy beds.  This is a very important part of my retirement.  There will also be a bed testing session upon my arrival.

Cutest Greyhound Around

Week three at inmate training camp has arrived and I’m loving it!  In case you don’t know me my name is Hope and I’m am THE cutest greyhound you’ll ever meet.  Not trying to strut my stuff, but hey even my inmate trainer says it.  So take my advice and prepare yourself to meet me.  I’m sure I’ll blow your socks off with my beauty.  Go ahead and buy me a crown if you’d like.

So I’ve had some pretty phenomenal weeks while here at training camp.  I’m pampered and spoiled, as I should be.  I get brushed a lot.  My coat is silky smooth.  My inmate trainer says that I was naughty last week, but it wasn’t my fault…. Really.  See, what had happened was… I was getting my teeth brushed and it was sooo yummy I accidently let my teeth talk me into borrowing the toothpaste tube.  I mean I thought it was mine so I was just gonna take it with me.  Who knew??

Happy Hope

Here we are at week 2 and Hope is doing great. She came in to Jenkins a little shy and unsure about all of the changes in her life. Can you blame her? One minutes she’s at the track racing and the next minute she’s on a hauler heading to jail. Hope has made a complete 360. Now she’s friendly and outgoing. Hope greets every person she meets by begging for attention. She has a sweet personality and the most adorable face. Her trainer knows she will make some family very happy.

Off To A Greyt Start!

Hope’s inmate trainer says that this training session is off to a roaring start!  He says that Hope is very easy to work with.  She loves being petted and groomed.  She stands calmly for her bath and had no problem with the water and bathing.  She’s already learning some basic commands.

It’s still a little early for her to be running in the big yard, but she’s eager and ready to go.  Her inmate trainer says that he looks forward to watching her grow and learn every day.
