Enjoy Lucy!

Lucy passed her final testing for her basic commands.  She does a good job with all of them, and is ready for her forever home.

She still gets overly exited with the squeaky toys and does not want to give them up.  These seem to bring the hound out in her.  Her inmate trainer can trade kibble for the squeaky toy, but she is reluctant to do so.

Her inmate trainer said it has been a joy to have spent time training this cute little girl named Lucy.  She has never acted aggressive in any way and has been a great companion these past 10 weeks.  Lucy's inmate trainer knows she will become more outgoing and playful once she is settled in her new home.  He knows you will enjoy her as much as he has.

Love At First Sight

Hi!  It's Lucy Lou.  My trainer really didn't know what else he could say about me.  It's all go though.  I know all of my commands and I am ready for my new forever home.  I bet you are ready for me too!  I can't wait!

I hope my new home has lots of treats and food.  That's the way to my heart, you know.  My trainer says that I am a sweetheart and such a cutie.  He's not telling me anything I didn't know.  LOL.  I'm irresistible, easy going and very well behaved.  It's going to love at first sight.  Just you wait and see.

I am not a fan of running.  I just like my leisurely walks around the track.  After all, I am retired and I know it!  See you in a week!

Loyal Companion

Lucy has a curious nature about her, but is also reserved and likes to hang close to you.  She loves going on walks, but still is not interested in running with the pack.  She loves to just lay on her mat and watch things happen.

Lucy loves to be around people, and they seem to love her too.  I guess because she's so darn cute!  She doesn't mind being with the other dogs, but has shown no interest in playing very much with them.  She's a people person... I mean dog.  If you are looking for a loyal companion, then look no further.  Lucy Lou is your girl!

Easy Going

Lucy Lou is an all around greyt hound!  She is the cutest little greyhound in the prison program.  With her easy going personality, she gets plenty of attention and love from everyone at the prison.

Lucy loves going outside to walk around and play, but still does not run with the "big dogs".  Squeaky toys are her favorite, but don't forget the treats!  Food is the way to her heart.

She does very well on all of her commands and loves the chance to train for her treats!  She loves to be groomed and clipping her nails is a breeze.

Lucy's inmate trainer knows that she will make someone a great laid back pet, and her personality will blossom even more once she gets to her forever home. Wait and see...

Walking and Rolling

Lucy has settled into a routine at the prison, and she now knows all of her basic commands.  She is very food driven and eats like she will never see food again.

She loves to play rough with squeaky toys, so Lucy hopes her forever home has lots of them to play with.  She still does not want to run with the other dogs.  She's quite content to walk the track and roll around in the grass with the sun in her face.

She gets along well with the other trainers and dogs in the program.  Things don't seem to bother this sweet girl.

She loves to lounge around on her mat beside her trainer and watch his every move, hoping for a treat for "staying" on her bed.  Who wouldn't stay on their bed for a treat?  After all she is a retired racing greyhound.

Food And Squeaky Toys, Please

Lucy knows most of her commands very well.  She needs more work on "release", "here", "sit" and "stay".  She knows them all, but can be a little stubborn following through.  She knows she's in retirement.  Even when she's outside she doesn't run.  She loves to walk around the track and yard.

Her two favorite things are food and her squeaky toys.  She thinks all the squeaky toys are hers.  When they walk by one of the dogs playing with one, she will give them a look like "Hey!  Those are mine."  She is a very alert girl and can give you some very funny looks that will make anyone smile.  Lucy will make an excellent pet for any family.

Lucy Lou, Looking For You

Another successful week of training with sweet little Lucy Lou!  She might be the smallest greyhound out of this group, but makes up for it in personality.  She's doing good with her training.  She knows most of her basic commands well.  She is a little slow to respond to:  "release", "here", "sit", "down", "leave it" and "stay".  There are still plenty of weeks left to train before graduation. She's a smart girl and will have them figured out by then.

Lucy is still a little bit shy and hasn't shown much interest in running.  She heard the word retired and decided running was not in her vocabulary, at least not yet.  She enjoys playing with squeaky toys and loves her food.  What an appetite this little girl has!

Lucy Lou is looking for you and a happy home to call her own.  Don't pass this girl up!

Sweet Little Lucy

Sweet little Lucy learned "sit" this week.  She is slow to respond, but hey, it's only week two.  She is doing good with "hurry", "let's go", "kennel", and "wait".  Next week her inmate trainer will add "down" to her list of commands she's learning.

Lucy was a little shy when she was out in the big yard.  She wanted to go back to her kennel.  That will probably change once she gets accustomed to the prison routine. Things are so different here than what she was used to at the track.

She likes to play with her toys in her kennel, and this girl loves to eat!  She loves to be brushed and getting her teeth brushed is no big deal to Lucy.  This sweet girl gets along well with everyone.  She will be a great catch for some lucky family!

Cuteness To The Max

The first few days with Lucy were spent working on her eating habits.  She has a very good appetite for such a petite girl.  What this girl lacks in size she makes up in cuteness!  Lucy seems to be very friendly to everyone and gets along well with all the other greyhounds.  She has adapted well to her kennel and has slept good so far.

Lucy is a curious, but cautious girl and is doing fine in her new environment.  She returns to her "kennel" and also goes "hurry" (potty) on command.  She has not gotten to run in the big yard yet, since her inmate trainer is waiting for her to completely heal from her spay surgery.  Hopefully, Lucy can play more next week!

Lucy walks well on the leash.  Some commands her inmate trainer has been working on are:  "Let's go", "wait", "heel", "hurry" and "kennel".  He is really looking forward to training Lucy in the coming weeks.  Check back for updates.
