Fast Friend

Rocky passed his final test at Jenkins, and you know what that means? Besides being a smart dog, it means he’s one step closer to you and his forever home. These 10 weeks have flown by and his trainer said Rocky is a happy boy that loves to be loved on. He has enjoyed training him and watching him grow into the greyt dog that will be with you through thick and thin.

Rocky still gets excited when its time go out on the big yard. His ears are perked up and his tail always is wagging. He loves to run, but like all greyhounds, it’s short lived. A few laps and he’s ready for a nap.

His favorite command is playing dead. All you have to do is point at him. It’s too cute and one that will surely impress your friends. Get ready to fall in love with Rocky. One look and you’re hooked.

Unconditionally Happy

Swap week! This week one lucky trainer got to host a handsome white and black greyhound named Rocky. Swap week is when the trainers see how each greyhound reacts to a different training team, a different routine, and a different kennel in a different part of the dorm. Basically, just getting them ready for the big change in environment in a couple of weeks. This change is not as dramatic as that one, but it's best to prepare as much as you can.

Rocky has been an absolute dream to work with. There have been no problems with separation anxiety or with following commands from a totally new person. He has been so well-trained. Rocky loves life and loves to be around people and near the action. His enthusiasm and passion for life are infectious. You can't help but want to take him into the training room just to play! His swap week trainer has never seen a dog gets so excited just to come out of the kennel. Rocky is such a fun guy and his swap week trainer definitely thinks that he would bring joy to any family who is going to be lucky enough to have him.

Rocky Brings Joy To Everyone!

Rocky has had another wonderful week!  He does great responding to commands from different trainers.  His inmate trainer says that Rocky is one smart boy who brings a lot of joy into his life.

When it’s time to eat he gets in his kennel and waits happily for his food.  He knows all of his commands and a few extras:  Leave It, Give, and Play Dead.  His inmate trainer says that he knows that Rocky’s sweet gentle nature will make it easy for his forever family to fall in love with this big guy.

The Happiest Tail

Rocky is doing wonderfully! He's doing well with his basic commands, and this past week his trainer taught him how to play dead. This is where he points his forefinger with a thumb up, kind of like a gun, and says “bang!” Rocky drops into a down position, and then falls over on his side. But once he falls over dead, his tail never slows down! In fact, his tail never slows down except for when he is asleep. One thing his trainer can say definitively about this guy is that he is one happy dog. Rocky loves to play but he calms down quickly when he's on his bed or when you tell him to go in his kennel. His trainer is so proud to be able to have trained him!

Heart Of Gold

Rocky is rocking and rolling through his commands. Wait and stay are the two that he is slow to respond to. That’s not too bad when it’s week six. He will have them all mastered before graduation. His trainer is sure of that. Rocky loves playing with toys and is getting pretty good at fetch. He will sit before getting a toy and will “give” it to his trainer when asked. He’s such a good boy!

Only four more weeks and it’s on to his forever home. His trainer hopes you are ready to get a greyt dog and love him as much as he does. Rocky will steal your heart and never let it go!

A Gentleman and a Scholar

Rocky is doing exceptionally well. He has become efficient at most of the 13 basic commands and his leash walking has improved as well. He will now walk beside his trainer without a leash, just as if he were tethered to one. Rocky is one of the happiest dogs in the group and seems to enjoy doing just about anything, with his tail wagging non-stop! He also enjoys playing fetch with the ball, but more than anything he wants petting and treats. Rocky has become one of his trainers favorite dogs he's ever trained, and he’ll be tough to part with!

Fetching Lad

Rocky is doing great! He's such a happy dog that it makes training fun. He's done very well on stairs this week and had his first show and tell on Thursday. Rocky did pretty well! He still has some work to do on longevity with sit and down, but he's getting there. His leash walking is also improving. Rocky enjoys playing fetch and chasing after his toy, and gets along well with the other dogs. He actually likes to share his daybed with one of the other dogs. He's a fun-loving happy dog, and his trainer knows that you will love him when he pounces into his forever home with you!

One Happy Boy!

Rock has had a great week! They worked on “sit,” “down,” “leave it,” and “wait.”  Now that Rocky has discovered the trick to learning (treats), he’s picking up on things quickly.  His inmate trainer says that he’s very proud of Rocky.

They worked on stairs this week.  After a couple of times up and down he started taking them like he’d been doing it his entire life.  He was also introduced to toys this week.  He is very playful at first, but calms quickly.  His inmate trainer says that Rocky is a great dog. He’s smart, loving and always happy.

Rock Star

Rocky has acclimated well to this new environment. He has a high enthusiasm level for treats or really any food in general, and he is an exceptionally happy dog! His long tail never seems to stop wagging. This past week, he and his trainer have been working on a few commands: sit, bed, kennel, here and leave it. He is getting pretty good at them! Rocky is intelligent and enjoys learning, and he does wonderfully in his kennel. He is a quiet guy who can sometimes get excited, but in true greyhound fashion he calms down easily. Rocky is a rock star!

Tail Wagging With Happiness

Rocky and his trainer have spent the last few days getting to know each other.  Rocky’s trainer says he’s an  exceptionally happy boy.  His tail never seems to stop wagging. He likes treats and being petted.

They worked on leash walking, “kennel”, “wait” and his name.  So far so good.  Right at this moment, Rocky is in his kennel dreaming, laying on his back with his feet running in the air.
